MO's Hot Dogs

My husband grabbed a bunch of hotdogs for an impromptu party for teens.  The dogs were awesome and the kids tore thru them in record time.  I had the Tasty Dog and it was Very Tasty!  This place is great when you want food quickly.  Love the Sauerkraut dog and the Chilli Cheese dog with onions is amazing too!They recently added fully loaded baked potatoes which I've yet to try but they look amazing!The service is amazing! Oh I LOVE Sacs!  Easy parking and the best dogs around by a mile.  Unfortunately they close pretty dang early and I am not in Napa at the right time too often. . but when I am I love grabbing the spicy dog with cheese!  YUM!Wish we had one in Sonoma it would KILL over here (not a lot of inexpensive easy food)The location has good parking but the inside of the restaurant is very small and not the greatest hang.. but not terrible. When you only have one main item at your restaurant, you need to get it right. Sac's has nailed it when it comes to hot dogs. I first visited the original Sac's in Vallejo in 1985 and It's great to know that some things never change: Sac's still has the best hot dogs, at both locations, 32 years later.The keys are quality hot dogs that have a "snap," steamed buns and fresh toppings, which include thinly shredded cheese, sliced tomato wedges (all bright red and firm), and freshly cut onions. Although I don't usually get chili, it's excellent, as well.The service is friendly, helpful and efficient, as well.My favorite is the cheese dog with yellow mustard and sliced tomatoes. Rather than melted, the cheese is piled on top and the trick is to make sure that you evenly redistribute the cheese after each bite, because what's great about the cheese, that is finely grated,and piled on, also makes it very mobile and essential that you reposition it after each bite to get the maximum cheesiness! Sac's Tasty Hot Dogs is a chain based out of Vallejo (I was assuming Sacramento because of the name, like Squeeze Inn) They do catering&they're excellent for groups. They can serve quantity with quality. Their chili cheese dog is simple goodness. They're not a fancy place, and they're superior to the previous tenant of the same space- a Beyond Coffee that always had a funky, gross smell&disgusting decorations in October. A simple, Spartan hot dog spot is better than what was a photo-hipster coffee shop.Their steamed, steamy hot dogs have length but lack girth. This place is ridiculously good! The hot dogs are tasty, buns are fresh and the produce is second to none. The Cheese Dog is my personal favorite and has become a weekly lunch staple. The staff is attentive, helpful and truly seem to care about every customer's experience being a positive one. Parking is easy as it's in a strip mall that really doesn't get overly busy. Prices are great for the quality you get, especially if you go with one of the meal deals they offer. Finally, be sure to check out their awesome selection of hot sauces to go on your dog. Sacs in Napa,? Apparently this location has been here for about 2 years. I was craving an after movie snack and planned on hitting the one in Spring St. in Vallejo, but I was notified this one was much closer. I had been to the original a few of times but they're as good here as the one in Vallejo. I had ordered a couple of Chili dogs, Mustard and Sauerkraut, and a cheese and plain ketchup dog. Pretty darn good. I got the cajun hot dog. At first I bit into it without getting the dog and I was thinking: 'wait, how is this cajun? !?', it just tasted like tomatoes and onions.. but then you get to the dog and everything makes sense.. like orgasmic (okay maybe not orgasmic), but everything made sense taste wise.. had mini fireworks. It's cajun because the sausage is spiced itself. Online on their menu, it doesn't mention it's a spiced sausage, but in stores it does.. so I wasn't really sure why it was Cajun until we actually got there. It was not pricey, just 4.75 and included mustard, relish, onion, and tomatoes.The bun wasn't super thick or cafeteria tasting like. It was quite a skinny (not ultra) dog overall with the bun, but it was great and it worked. They have gluten free hot dogs.. but I'm not sure if the buns are gluten free or it comes bunless... (because then unless there's cross contamination: oh-oh, then it ain't really gluten-free). And my boyfriend also enjoyed his Kraut dog. My boyfriend asked me if these hot dogs were better than the ones he makes me (which are pretty damn fine), but I said these ones. He pouted for a second, but when I asked him, he smiled and said these ones are better than the ones he makes. So yeah, pretty than your home-made or at the fair hot-dog (because let's be real: those sausages are good, but the buns are wack). But these ones are pretty bomb. Is it the best out there? Maybe not, but for now: this is the best I've found.. I feel like you need two dogs to be full for myself. but I didn't want to be unhealthy. My boyfriend was full after one but not filled up. I say give this a place a go if you're in town or stopping along the one. There's one other location in Vallejo as well. Well i have been here before, and it was very good and today it was just ok. Excellent hot dogs! I ordered their specialty cheese dog and it came with all the fixins, tomatoes, onions, relish, mustard, ketchup, and I added jalapeños! I got a cheese dog and it touched my soul. Super good hot dogs and they are worth the price. I use to work at Famous Vinnies in Fairfield and know my hot dogs pretty well, I think. Vinnies copied the style and everything of sacs. Sacs does it so great and the girls are sweet with good customer service. The only thing is. I wish Sacs used better chili like chefmate chili con carne. And offered it without beans. That's where they lose one star. I think their chili cheese dog has more potential. It's like a 8 star chili cheese dog but better chili could make it a 10! Otherwise they have a peeerfect menu. I definitely recommend it! The Napa location is also fairly new and neat looking. Pretty good location too. Very open and isn't as small as the Vallejo one which always has the line out the door because (the hot dogs are so good and) the shop is oh so small. Very good hot dogs in a casual clean shop.I usually get the tasty with kraut . It comes with all the fixings topped with kraut If you order a kraut dog on the menu it only comes with mustard and kraut no fixings. So if you want the tomatoes, onions and relish be sure to order it tasty.Good quality . My only gripe is they pre slice the tomatoes and onions. Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon, several customers enjoying meals and we ordered & received our food within minutes.  I ordered a tasty dog, hubby ordered one with cheese and our daughter had one with just ketchup...found a table and began to chow down!  Great dog with a nice snap, very juicy and true to the name 'tasty'.  The bun is what really made it - fresh and slightly chewy (from being steamed maybe?).  So so good.  Being from the Chicago area, we've had our share of good dogs...this was one of them!  My hubby is very picky and he's still talking about it, and excited to know there's a Sac's close to home in Vallejo. Very clean establishment with excellent service and delicious dogs.Sac's is my "go to" lunch spot and I have never been let down.  They have a great staff that is always ready to customize your dog. My two favorites are the chili dog and kraut dog.  100% all beef dog that is cooked to perfection.  You know it's a good dog when you bite in and get that crisp crunch.  That lets you know you got a hot and juicy Sac's dog.*Update* They now have bacon!!!!! Chili cheese dog with sauerkraut instead of onions. Got it to go and enjoyed the meal at home. Who needs a side with a dog like that? Not I. Super full and a happy belly. A strong IPA goes with it quite well. Dog tasted great, chili had the right amount of flavor without overpowering the dog and they loaded it with plenty of cheese and kraut. My advise: Copy the Vallejo interior right down to the yellow fence boards on the walls,  and the Napa location will be packed also. The Vallejo Sac's atmosphere is a very relaxing place to sit, those low stools are comfortable, and the  road signs keep your mind intrigued as you eat a "tasty dog"! .....from  someone who does't have to travel so far........ now that you're in Napa....+++++Good Luck! Great Hot Dogs. Just as good as Vallejo. Lines are long because it's new, but I'm sure they'll get faster.  The vallejo location always has a line, but it moves quick.
