The University of Cambridge Sports Service called on Elodie to provide a professional high quality photography service for a project we were doing. The project involved capturing a diverse range of sports across different iconic University locations. Timescales were tight, space was restricted and some of the ideas were crazy but Elodie took everything in her stride. We finished with hundreds of photos covering 32 sports in as many locations and the end product was sensational. We are so happy with the photos and are always complimented on how amazing they are. Elodie was a pleasure to work with, and we're very pleased that she was the photographer at our wedding. She offered several different packages, all very reasonably priced for the quality of the work, and allowed us to customise the package so that we had everything we wanted. She met up with us for an initial meeting a few months before the wedding, and I was really struck by how well she listened (not all photographers have this skill!). She made some good suggestions too, but she really put our requests first, which meant a lot. Elodie was very responsive by email, and did a great job keeping us updated on progress. The turn-around on the digital version of the photos was very fast (a couple of weeks), and the photos looked fantastic. She also did an amazing job on our album - we had lots of input on choosing the photos, but she also did all the hard work for us on the design and layout, and produced a beautiful album that we will treasure for a long time. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Making people feel at ease! I know having a camera pointed at you can feel awkward, and that is why I make all my photoshoots fun and interactive, so that the camera isn't as intimidating, and so that real emotions and authentic mannerisms bring the photo to life.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I find out about their personality, their brand values (if it's a business), their style, what they like, what they are drawn to. This allows me to tailor my approach to what resonates with them.
What do you love most about your job?
Witnessing people blossom when they see photos of themselves that they finally love. A photographer who "gets" you and can capture you beautifully can really change the way you see yourself.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I come from the corporate world where the impact I was making was pretty abstract - it was all about hitting numbers, delivering projects, meeting deadlines, etc... I wanted to be able to make a more tangible and human impact in people's lives, and in small, local businesses.
