Excellent service! Elliot and his team are polite, professional and efficient. They felled 4 Holm Oaks on my property, pollarded another Holm Oak and cut back other trees. The work took 5 days during which time they worked almost non-stop with only a short lunch break. Great care was taken not to cause any damage and they cleared up afterwards, leaving the garden neat and tidy. They returned yesterday to grind the stumps of the trees felled. Not only are they are a very professional company, but their fees are very reasonable in comparison to other tree surgeons in the area.I will definitely use Minters Tree Care again in the future! Elliot has done an amazing job for us. He was able to save our beloved cat, Reeves who was stuck up a 60ft tree for over a week. He came on three separate occasions as Reeves kept climbing into dangerous branches. Today, even though Reeves escaped to two more trees in the process, Elliot saved him. Elliot’s determination and care were outstanding. Fully recommended More...

We’ve used Minter’s twice now and both times the service has been exceptional. Elliot and his team were super knowledgable, friendly, polite and professional and worked extremely hard to get the job completed in the small time scale we had. The communication was very impressive too. We will now only use Minter’s. Fantastic team doing a really great job. More...

What do you love most about your job?
I’m passionate about trees, and love meeting new people and seeing new sites and views. But love the smile on customers faces when the job is finished
What inspired you to start your own business?
To give back to the industry! To give healthy work to the trees!
Why should our clients choose you?
I’m a local company trying to build a business who has been doing Tree Surgery for 4 years, and would love to give your trees some extra life
Removal/Felling
Felling is when we remove the tree completely down to a stump, usually leaving the stump up to 3 inches above ground level.
We have different techniques for the removal of a tree, from felling it as it stands, which is when we put a sync cut into the base of the tree which is the cut made for the direction of which we would like the tree to fall, it is then followed by a back cut which releases the tree to enable it to fall onto its sync cut and land where we have directed it to. This cutting method is only useful if we have the room and space for the whole tree to come down within its area.
In situations where we cant do this, we can use controlled methods such as rigging, which is all done via ropes and pulleys that enable branches to be lowered down to the ground safely.
Reduction/Thinning
To reduce a tree is when we cut a specific length off of the height and width of the branches within the tree to make the overall crown smaller.
We achieve this by pruning each branch back to a growth point that is no less than a third of the diameter of the branch being cut at the growth point position. We then climb around the whole crown following this procedure to then create a round ball – like tree shape.
You would usually reduce a tree when it’s getting to big for its environment or is coming in contact with a structure or building. It also has benefits of allowing more light into the garden and reduces the trees vulnerability to wind damage.
Pollarding
Pollarding is a form of pruning consisting of cutting all the limbs of the tree to bring it down to a more suitable height to sustain root growth and keeping the tree at a manageable height. It is mostly implemented to street trees to keep the natural habitat without destroying the surrounding environment.
Once a tree has been pollarded it is then re-pollarded annually for management, this is done by cutting all the regrowth on the “knuckles” taking the tree back to a bare skeleton leaving a blank canvas.
Hedge Cutting/Trimming
Hedge trimming is when we cut the re-growth off of the hedge back to its manageable state.
It’s best to trim your hedges annually, or twice a year for a more established formal hedge to keep it compact and dense.
The best time for hedge trimming is usually spring after they have flowered or summer time, keeping in mind that bird nesting season runs from March until August, so as long as it doesn’t disrupt the nest itself, you can trim away.
Stump Grinding
Stump grinding is a service we offer where we can grind down any unwanted stumps down to a depth of 10inches below ground level.
It’s done by our machine that has tungsten carbide teeth on a flywheel and it nibbles away at the stump at a very high speed. This causes the stump to turn into mulch.
This is a great service should you remove any tree that have out grown their environment and you wish to re-plant with something a little more manageable in the same location, or if you have already had trees taken down and keep tripping over the old stump.
Eco-Plugging
Our Eco-Plug service is a plug that gets hammered into a drilled pilot hole in the stump of a recently removed tree and releases glyphosate into the stump which prevents it from growing again aswell as being pet & child friendly.
