Since opening my own private practice, Perceptions LLC, in 2013 we have partnered with Mindful Connections Mental Health and Dr. Johnson in a myriad of ways. We have worked together for marketing purposes, shared office space, and referred clients to each other throughout the years. We have even had the opportunity to share clients in consultative and conjoint therapies. There are few clinicians I would trust as highly as I do Dr. Johnson. She is confident, compassionate, and extremely competent. She excels in particular in the areas of group therapy and personality disorders, and she has an intense passion for providing access to mental health services to those who normally would not be able to utilize those types of services. A culturally competent and skilled practitioner, I have never doubted in her ability to handle clients with unique experiences. Dr. K is a compassionate and knowledgeable therapist. Starting therapy is not the easiest thing, and her ability to identify key areas of growth while maintaining a good relationship continues to impress me. Over the time I've known Dr K (or Johnson, now!) I've seen her commitment to ethical and responsible--yet somehow still FUN-- approach to treatment. Although I would say her real strength lies in devising creative cognitive behavioral interventions, I have also participated in psychodramas and other group modalities under her direction. What do you love most about your job?
The best part of my job is meeting the wonderful clients who come through my door. I have the amazing opportunity to watch each of my clients grow through their therapeutic experiences and to see their lives change in some of the most positive ways. -Dr. Johnson
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked for a period of time at a community mental health center that provided counseling for low income clients. I enjoyed the interactions I had and the difference the center made, but I wanted to be able to provide a more "one-on one" experience for clients who were in need of guidance and understanding. It seems the mental health field has small, expensive private practices or large hospital types of settings for those looking for help. I wanted to be able to provide something in between.
Why should our clients choose you?
It is important that clients are comfortable with the counselor they are seeing. Ultimately, they should choose me, if they are comfortable with me and feel my experience, credentials, and interactions with them are going to meet their needs.

50 Minute sessions for individual clients
Couples Counseling
50 minute sessions for Couples
Family Counseling
50 minute sessions for families. Families can include as many or as few people as necessary.
Group Counseling
Group Counseling session vary for time, depending on the purpose of the group session.
Topics for group counseling include: Grief/Loss, Chronic Pain, and Divorce
