We just had the most incredible evening thanks to Michael's wonderful cooking and our lovely waiter Michael who couldn't do enough for us. It was a faultless evening. Michael's menu was sublime, he even provided the crockery and cutlery which made things so easy for us. If you're thinking of doing something like this look no further, I would never have thought to have a private chef at my house but after winning this at an auction I would ask Michael back as a regular fixture and all our friends and family felt the same. What can I say but pure perfection and one fantastic evening. Michael and his partner Caroline gave us the most wonderful evening with food just out of this world, love everything about it, from the ease of their arrival with everything in hand even down to cutlery and plates, the presentation, the taste, the service - we won this at a charity auction and would certainly bid again or have Michael and Caroline back!

This was the first time we had engaged the services of a private chef for a dinner party. From the initial request the communication and understanding of our requirements was exceptional. Mike is a very talented chef and his menu was outstanding. We added a waiter to the party and he enabled both my wife and I to relax from the minute our guests arrived, professionally serving them with freshly cooked canapes and champagne and then expertly delivering the very fine 6 courses cooked by Mike to our table. I booked Chef Michael for a family lunch in the comfort of our own home. Chef was very organised. We spoke beforehand about special diets and the set up, and he arrived promptly on the day well prepared. The meal was delicious with everybody going home full and talking about the tasty chicken sauce and light berry mousses. I opted for a server, Michael, who was a delight and added wonderfully to the whole experience. Mike Fishpen and his team catered a beautiful business dinner for twelve in our home.From the time that we made the booking they were professional and a pleasure to deal with. On the day of the dinner they were impeccably well organised finally leaving an immaculately clean and tidy kitchen in the evening. The dinner was delicious. The beef was cooked exactly as we like it and we had a wonderful trio of deserts. We received excellent service from start to finish from Micheal and also his head waiter. They arrived on time and with little fuss produced an outstanding 6 course taster meal for 10 of our family. The head waiter was amazing, making sure our table was laid perfectly and filling our glasses up all evening. Everything was washed and cleaned up at the end of the meal leaving us to relax and enjoy the evening. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company. Absoloutely amazing. I recently had a Bar B Que provided by mike and his team, far from the bog standard, home made burgers were scrumptious, the 3 varieties of marinated chicken superb, a whole boned leg of lamb marinated and slowly cooked on the BBQ AMAZING, mike provided us with a great selection of vegetarian options as well. Having booked a self-catering long weekend on Northey Island in Essex for friends and family to celebrate my retirement, I turned my attention to the best way to cater for them. I didn't want the hassle of cooking meals; nor takeaways or restaurants as the tides would cut us off from the mainland during meal times. The best way forward seemed to be to hire a personal chef. I'd never done that before but after a short Google search I struck lucky - very lucky. Michael Fishpen was a perfect choice. From initial contact to the last meal, Michael's attention to detail was exemplary. Courteous, unobtrusive and approachable, he prepared a dining feast for three consecutive evenings that had the after-dinner chat focused for ages on what people had eaten rather than nostalgic tales about my past. With mains of meat the first night; fish the second and a buffet for the third, each meal was memorable from the mouth-watering starters to the shouldn't-really-eat-that desserts. Given the off track location and basic kitchen facilities, Michael never hesitated in delivering an eating experience that we will always remember, plus he was attentive in our unusual environment and carried out extra-curricular duties to make the weekend a success. What do you love most about your job?
Due to popular demand and his fantastic food and service, Mike has now branched out and created Mike Fishpen Personal Chef Services.
Mike Fishpen has been a chef for over 25 years, with a wealth of experience behind him. Working at the five star Hyatt Regency Hotel, and Hilton Hotel group internationally, Bibendum and Rules restaurant in the Uk. ( To name a few)
Mike is very hands on and will still be doing dinners, as he loves his job, to cook and entertain.
We have a team of chefs that have worked in many top hotels and restaurants globally, and have plenty of experience behind them to make your chosen dinner or event truly special.
All our chefs are vetted, qualified and have up to date hygiene certificates and are fully insured.
For larger groups of people we also offer professional waiters and waitresses to provide a full service during the meal.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to be a private chef from the age of 3, and love what I do.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have been a Private chef full time now for over 12 years, this is what I do to make a living.
Unlike commercial private chef sites out there who offer things on the "cheap " with chefs that are not actually private chefs, just cooks looking to earn a quick buck on the weekend, I concentrate fully and put all my effort into providing an excellent experience.
