Merlin was easy and straightforward to book. It was a very professional show. He entertained and amazed all three generations at the party. A week later and guests were still talking about it. Merlin stepped in to help out at short notice when the bouncy castle was cancelled due to adverse weather. He agreed to spend time entertaining the children while the adults had tea. Wow.....Merlin really was a very special asset and full of surprises in more ways than one!
He was booked for an hour to entertain adults and the grandchildren (5-9yrs) for an afternoon tea party.
I contacted him again at 24 hours notice, asking him if he could extend his visit a little for the children as the bouncy castle booking was cancelled due to high winds.
Merlin came up trumps. On arrival he was so professional, self contained with everything required, and absolutely unfazed by the excitement and interest of the children. He is so good with children. He started entertaining them before a more formal presentation for the whole audience, (38-80 yrs) , and carried on making balloons etc while the adults had tea. The feedback from my guests has been terrific. He held the attention of adults and children alike. A wonderful show, adult participation, laughter and and amazement. We all loved the dove and white rabbit too. Can’t recommend him highly enough, he really kept us entertained and gave us so much to talk about after the show. Excellent value. Thank you for making a special day even more memorable.

Fast and polite response from Merlin. Wasn’t sure what to expect as little social media presence and reviews. However, we were extremely pleasantly surprised! Dear Merlin,
Your magic performance, at Branscombe Airfield Camping Site, was excellent. The wet sunshine meant that you had to make arrangements to use the communal indoor area for the entertainment.
BUT what a tremendous success you made of it.
Tommy, the six year old birthday boy, his friends, their siblings, their parents and a few others who were staying in the camping ground were enthralled.
Parents were stunned with your professionalism and amazed with your ability to keep twenty odd children (and parents) happy and 'controlled' for the hour +. Afterwards and throughout the following day they trying to work out how you managed to do these magical things.
It was generally agreed that if you hadn't been there yesterday it wouldn't have been a party at all. Justin, Sara and everyone of the parents wanted me to pass on their genuine thanks to you.
You managed to make their day MAGICAL.
We, as grandparents, have to say a mega thank you. Also to the well behaved doves and rabbits xx

How long have you been interested in magic?
Merlin has been involved in magic since he was 10 years old - a few years ago now.
He has performed with his doves and rabbits for 30 years at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish. He can perform in small rooms at home to large schools and halls.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
Merlin entertains in a wide variety of venues with lots of family audiences in the hotels. He also does close up and walkaround magic when the opportunity arises.
But Merlin's "bread and butter" comes from his love of working with children (6 of his own) and teaching in schools and working with children at church. As a result his birthday parties have been honed to match the age and nature of the children in front of him.
From the moment Merlin's large magic wand disappears, the children are actively involved in showing how much they know, from colours to knowing the bird on the picture. The bird disappears from the picture only to appear live in front of them. They are often not sure he is real but after smoothing him they become convinced. They are told how fast he can fly and are amazed when the dove vanishes only to reappear by bursting a balloon.
Merlin has a box of bricks with Disney characters; each of which holds a surprise. The wicked queen has a broken picture (jigsaw) that only the children can fix. The jigsaw magically gets completed, except for a piece with a dove on it which was picked by my helper!! The piece fits and leads to the helper making another dove appear.
The show then continues with fun in each of the boxes and at the end of the show all the children have balloon models from helicopters, bears, rabbits and sadly their desired swords.
What do you love most about your job?
Although people say you should never work with children or animals, I love the amazement and joy on the faces of the children when a "real live" dove appears in their hands!! If your camera is focused on the children's faces then you hill have some wonderful memories to share.
