Mellulah yoga is some of best yoga I have found anywhere . I have been lucky enough to practice yoga all over the world with some wonderful yogis. Saira is unquestionably one of the best teachers I've encountered. She has huge integrity and humility. How lucky I am to have found her. X More...

I recently attended a 1 day retreat. I have very little experience of yoga. Saira was fantastic and offered a whole body holistic experience for the day. I felt i had my eyes opened on vegan food, loved the energy balls and home made chai tea. The vinyasa flow yoga felt amazing and the next day i ached in all the right places. An afternoon of meditation was interesting, it definitely requires practice, we went through chakra meditation and yoga nidra. As a beginner i found chakra meditation easier to follow. Would I do another retreat with Saira?......YES! More...

Thanks for the lovely day today. A gorgeous venue and great classes. The yoga in the morning had the right level of challenge with variations for those that couldn't manage everything. The meditation class was informative and useful and the relaxation session was.. Well... Relaxing. More...

I returned on Monday from a weekend retreat at this magical and special place. Over the last few years I have attended 3 or 4 yoga days at Mellulah but never a weekend and it was as I imagined it to be, plus some. In one word.... Special. Firstly everybody I met over the weekend were lovely people, the food was nourishing and scrumptious, this food lover loved it all. Sairas' yoga asana sessions were very much geared towards how the group were feeling; energising and flowing or restorative and nurturing when required, she felt the needs of the group rather than having a plan and sticking with it, all sessions were perfect. The meditation sessions in the evenings taken by Ken Huggins were informative and inspiring and I struggle with sitting still and quiet for anything more than 10/15 mins at best, his voice is very soothing and calming which helps, I would definitely go to another of his workshops, have a treatment by him or buy his cd/app if he ever brings one out. The hand outs he gave us were a nice touch to read up on when home and stay inspired to keep it up. With regards to the treatments I had a shiatsu deep tissue massage from Simone, and WoW! It was the most incredibly releasing massage I have ever had, within minutes of Simone starting, the stress and emotions started to leave and by the end i felt so different, so much more relaxed, also extremely emotional but that's a good thing. I have her card and will be calling her for another massage. And I cannot forget the afternoon spent in the care of Preet Kaur, her calming radiance and her gong. To just lie back and allow the healing sounds to work their magic is very special, I've never managed to attend any of Preets workshops at mellulah and I was really looking forward to experiencing her sound healing workshop. I was not disappointed. And finally, my accommodation for the 3 nights was the Gypsy Caravan and it was perfect for me, even the wake up call from the donkey braying early in the morning was lovely.
All in all it was a magical and special weekend and without a doubt I will be attending many more day retreats at Mellulah and as many weekend ones as I can. A huge thank you to Saira, Luccombe Farm, Ken, Preet, Simone, Finola, Betsy, all the lovely people who attended, the caterer, the animals and anybody else who has helped to make this such a special place. Thank you love Claire x

Q&As

I love my job and often do not consider it to be 'work'. I love helping people to reach their full potential in physical health, wellbeing and finding spiritual peace and joy, particularly after hardship and suffering it is so fulfilling to see my clients getting better and feeling good.

I am passionate about using yoga and holistic therapy in my own life and love to pass my knowledge and experience onto others.

About Mellulah’s Founder, Saira Francis.

I am blessed to be running Mellulah Therapy & Yoga Retreats, I don’t consider what I do to be a job, it is my passion and I love every day that I am working with yoga and therapies. My own journey with yoga, meditation, mindfulness and healing therapies began many years ago, together they have helped me completely transform my life in ways I could never have imagined.

When I was young I struggled with depression, anxiety and stress and had no access to tools that might have helped me deal with it. I discovered yoga in my teens but the classes were purely a physical exercise and without the spiritual aspect, the yoga did nothing to help me.

I battled with addictions for many years and found myself in emotionally abusive relationships, my marriage of seven years left me with two beautiful daughters but depleted and spiritually lost. All those years I had no idea how to extricate myself from what sometimes felt like a desperate situation.

Ending up on my own with three very young children in my early thirties, life got really difficult. The children and I faced homelessness on more than one occasion, I was broke, unhappy and often felt very alone.

However bad things got, there was always an inner voice that told me to keep going, there had to be a better way than this. I found real determination and strength to try to pull myself out the darkness I was in, knowing deep down that life didn’t have be so hard.

I started to work hard on my inner self, I found a great yoga teacher who taught me more about the philosophy and spirituality of the practice. Learnt meditation and mindfulness from books and the internet. I studied courses in Reiki, aromatherapy and other therapies, I saw a counsellor once a week and went on healing weekends, retreats and committed fully to my practice. There was no other option for me than to throw myself into facing and then changing myself, knowing that if I did, I could change my life.

I’ve now been working with Holistic Therapies since 2004, running yoga retreats since 2011 and teaching yoga classes in Dorset since 2013. Life really did heal for me and my family. We live in a beautiful, quiet location in pretty Milton Abbas, I sit in my garden everyday and feel gratitude for the peace that we found after many years of drama and chaos. I have a wonderful, supportive partner, I was a single mother for 14 years, but he was worth the wait and we are getting married in the summer of 2018. My retreats have won awards for their excellence and for the joy they bring to the guests who arrive with us. Clients and yogis come back week after week to enjoy the healing energy that comes into all of the work I do.

I love my work and most importantly I love sharing the gifts of yoga and healing with others, knowing that they can bring true and lasting change and healing into peoples lives. When I teach yoga or work with holistic therapy, I am working from the heart. I have true, authentic belief and trust in the healing strength that comes when we make the decision to work on ourselves spiritually.

Life can transform for you too, we just have to find that determination not to let things drag us down. It can take a long time, for me it took many, many years, but the journey can be an incredible one. A journey of wisdom, healing, strength and listening to that deep inner voice who is encouraging you to keep on. My belief in yoga, meditation and therapies as a way to stay centred and balanced, has led me to the spiritual path I am now on, which I hope to share with you. It would be lovely to meet you and help you to find a little piece of peace during our retreats, workshops, classes and also on the therapy couch.

I am a sensitive, intuitive therapist and yoga teacher, my clients and students return to me again and again because I am very gentle, calm, open minded, non-judgemental and empathic to the needs of others.
