I would have no hesitation in recommending Mel. She is totally reliable and easy to work with, with a 'can do' approach. She has a great sense of colour, works quickly and always makes the deadline. Her illustration work especially is excellent and her technical abilities are strong More...

Q&A

Your website is your first digital impression and you want to make sure it’s a great one. Great websites catch the attention of your visitors with clear and pleasing design, and keep them reading with well presented and engaging content, with all the important info easily accessible. It's important that your site is specifically tailored to your intended demographic, in both design and content.

First of all I'd need an overview of what you're looking for and the timescale you're hoping to achieve it in - don't worry if you don't have a specific brief worked out yet. The more info you can pass my way about your brand and business, your intended target audience or customers the better. We will discuss the design styles and colours you already like, so I get a really good feel for the result you're looking for. I like to keep a flexible and informal process, where we can pass ideas back and forth, communicate and adjust and adapt as we go. It's a two way process. Of course, If you want to be more hands off, sit back and relax, and let me take care of things that's also fine.

I'll work with you in a fluid and organic way, and once briefed, I have the knack of knowing what you're looking for, what your business requires and producing designs to a high spec. I'll send you a few roughs/sketches early on, with styling examples, colour palettes and inspiration if necessary. I'll hone in on something that really works for you, refining the design in stages until it's spot on.

Depending on the brief, here are a few topics we might discuss.

What is it you need? Rebranding/ logo/brochure/business cards/illustration/website/wordpress setup/ ecommerce/album artwork/packaging?

When do you need it? Tomorrow? In three months? I try to be as flexible as I can depending on my current workload. I don't take on more than two client jobs at a time so you have my full attention.

What is it for? - A blog? Professional website? Ecommerce retail site? A wedding invitation?

Who will see it? - All about your target audience. Who are they? Where are they? What are their tastes/styles/ needs?

Your story - How did you get to this point? Tell me the history of your business or creative project

Your vision - Where are you looking to take your business or project in the future?

Your competitors/peers - What are they doing which you like or dislike? Where are you currently placed within your field?

Your tastes - What designs do you already like? What do you dislike? What inspires you?

All of the above helps me to build a clear picture of you and your project, and we can get underway!

The creativity, connecting with new people, the satisfaction of seeing a job well done in print or online.

I initially trained in art & design, and then surface pattern design, way back before computers were used very much. Later I retrained in digital design - Photoshop and so on. I also extended my skill set to include website design and graphic design. I started off at home part time when my son was still small back in 2006 , and things grew and grew. Right now I have a studio space where I work full time.

I'm friendly, easygoing, flexible, and I'm told I have that knack for knowing just what you're looking for. No hassles, no stress and also reasonable rates. I look forward to meeting you and working together.
best,
Mel
