Mel was definitely my life saver in the hour of need. I'd be having horrendous tummy problems for over 2 1/2 years. I was so low because medication wasnt working and tests were taking so long and thought enough is enough. Mel has helped me immensely and I'm so grateful to her for making me feel so well in such a short period of time. I would highly recommend this lovely lady not only did she help with my stomach issues she was so caring and understanding and always replied to my texts. In this day and age Nutritionists should be working closely with GPs and should be the first port of call because food is the best medicine and thanks to Mel I really have felt amazing. Thank you so much for everything More...

Having struggled with my weight and all that brings, for most of my adult life I took the plunge and had a consultation with Mel, I have been with her for over 12 months and she has completely changed my life. ..... for the better! She has educated me and my mindset about food. She has provided recipes, meal plans nutritional information, encouragement, guidance and as a result have lost over 3 stone, and gone from a size 18-20 to a 12-14, I never thought I would ever feel so good about myself. My self esteem and confidence was rock bottom it’s now sky high! I can now climb the stairs, get up out of the settee and get on the floor and run around with my Grandaughter. I’m not on a diet...... I eat good, nutritional, healthy food oh and still have a few Gins at weekends 😉 Thoroughly recommend a visit More...

Before I met Mel nearly 2 years ago, I had been battling with diabetes for over 20 years and could never get it under control. The Dr kept increasing my medicine dosage. I was truly fed up and wanted to change my life. That's when I decided to contact Mel, who from the moment I met her, has been absolutely brilliant in educating me on healthy eating, the benefits of exercising and the importance of taking vitamin supplements. My HB1ac sugar levels was averaging 80s but with Mel's help and support, I've got it down to 46 ..something I never dreamt was possible ..My whole life has changed . I was tested positive with Covid 4 weeks back but had no symptoms. I truly believe this is down to my immune system becoming more stronger with lifestyle changes and I have to thank to Mel for that....Feel very lucky To anyone who is wanting to make health lifestyle changes, I could not recommend Mel enough. I would definitely recommend Mel, five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ plus She has been inspirational in my weight loss journey I have been seeing Mel since April 2019 and I have lost 2 stone and 10 cm off my waist. Before seeing Mel in April I had struggled for 3 years with my weight after being diagnosed with pcos, I had tried all diets going and nothing worked. Mel doesn’t try and stop you eating all the food you love but it’s all about portion control, looking at alternatives and making different choices. You get lots of receipes and ongoing support even out of hours !!!! I can’t thank Mel enough for all her support, advice and guidance and look forward to starting my maintenance plan hopefully in 8 week time Thanks Mel xx More...

Q&As

The evidence for the effect of nutrition and diet on health is growing at a faster rate now than ever. This is because we are starting to know more and more about the highly significant impact diet has on physical and mental health as well as psychological well-being. Research shows that poor diet can lead to excess weight, mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and disease risks including heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol to name a few. Conversely, it has consistently been shown that sound nutrition can reduce the risk of all these diseases and conditions and in many cases, treat them altogether. The benefit of a healthy diet can not be stressed enough. By working together with each client, the treatment I provide is individualised to take into account their unique physiology, lifestyle and preferences and most importantly is sustainable for life.

Changing your diet can change your life. Seeing the changes in someone's appearance, confidence levels, energy levels, as well as seeing a marked reduction in disease risk factors makes this the most rewarding job there is. Knowing someone will live longer, with more energy, and feel better for it is what makes it worth every minute for me.

10 years ago I decided I wanted to turn my life long passion for food and nutrition into my career. After shadowing a dietician, I realised that working for the NHS was not for me. They have very limited resources so are unable to provide a thorough service to dietetics patients, and do not have adequate time with each patient to get into any investigatory work, or provide consultations longer than 15 minutes. There is also a long wait to see a dietician and when additional support is needed, it is not available like it is with a freelance nutritionist. There are also many areas in the UK where nutrition and dietetic support is just not available to the people who need it most. This is why I decided to become a freelance nutritionist. I also get to choose which areas to further my education in to tailor my expertise to the clients in my area.

Nutrition has been my passion for over 15 years. Aside from my Nutrition Science background, I am a self taught chef in most types of cuisine including vegetarian and vegan. I am profoundly passionate about making a difference in my clients lives.

Yes absolutely. You are able to book yourself in for remote appointments on Evolve's website.

We are a very covid safe clinic. All of the staff wear masks all day and during consultations. I am fully vaccinated and regularly sanitise the areas I work in and between clients to minimise the risk of spread through the clinic surfaces.

Services

Prior to the first consultation, an assessment form and 3 day food diary will be sent to you via email or post to fill out. These need to be filled out and returned to me at least 48 hours prior to the appointment.
During the initial consultation I will gather a bit more detail about your health, lifestyle, motivations, and goals by asking various questions and using non-invasive diagnostic techniques. Further testing may be recommended where necessary.
From this information we will jointly agree on a tailor made nutritional plan. This includes an explanation of how your dietary and lifestyle habits might be contributing to your symptoms; dietary and lifestyle modification plan designed specifically for you; and the recommendation for supplements and/or further testing where needed.

Follow- up appointments are usually 4-6 weeks following the initial consultation and are about 45 minutes. This allows me to take any further measurements including progress, and make any adjustments to your plan.
