My wife and I hired Clare Spartz to help us sell our condo. She was fantastic! We met with her early on in the process to tour our home. Clare gave us respectful but frank advice and (wisely) encouraged us to remove clutter and furniture that didn’t make our condo look its best. Clare then partially staged the condo with pieces of furniture and accessories which made the space bright, open, and beautiful. This drew potential buyers to our condo and helped it outshine other similar units in the neighborhood which were also on the market. When we did get an offer, Clare offered sound advice and wise recommendations to secure the best terms possible, and saw the transaction through to the end. Clare is better than the best. I am confident that our condo would not have sold without the beautiful staging and Clare's vision. When we considered listing we were nervous. Our condo was in a building with all renters and another more desirable unit was going to hit the market at the same time. Clare took one look at our condo and had a vision of how beautiful it could be. That vision gave us a contract for more than listing price in ONE DAY and the other unit that went for sale never sold, even after dropping the price below our original listing. The other unit was slightly larger and had a view of the city. The difference between the two listings was CLARE! Staging sold our condo and we could not be happier.

If you want a fabulous answer to the question:  "Where can I find a unique piece of furniture?", MegMade is your answer.  My husband and I just purchased a combination bar cart/cabinet.  It was in their showroom, already conditioned.  In essence, these folks take beautiful, vintage pieces and make them more beautiful.  You can purchase something from their showroom or pick something that hasn't yet been conditioned and have it custom-painted, laminated, or repaired, as needed.  Lauren was a pleasure to work with and everything was done efficiently.  Highly recommended! Clare is awesome and her staging skill sells homes!. Clare is a Realtor, but also does staging. Ordinarily, she does not do staging for other agents, however, she did it as a special favor for my seller and me. The home was totally transformed and I am confident it would still be on the market without her assistance. The furnishings she provided were lovely and well coordinated. I would recommend her for any home in need of some sophisticated styling and especially vacant homes begging for great furnishings! More...

Clare was recommended to us when we sold our condo in the city (UK Village / Humboldt Park neighborhood). She was amazing to work with! At our initial meeting, she presented information about our market and options for selling, while also having an amazing demeanor! She took such personal steps to maximize the appeal of our place. We already liked our condo, but she really helped us fall in love with it again, as well as detailing how she could help potential buyers fall in love with it, as well. I did not have an appt to tour Clare's listing, in fact she was on her way out to another appt, I asked if I could see the home, she graciously invited me in & allowed me to take my time to tour the property. When we showed Clare our house, she was very excited by it's potential because the market was very hot in our neighborhood. She went through the house and made a list of improvements to make. She showed us the local comps and told us we could sell for much more than we expected if we fix it up first. We made the recommended repairs and she staged the house beautifully. We put the house on the market at the high end of her recommendation. In the end, the house was sold in less than a month at just slightly below our asking price! We worked with Megmade for a one of a kind changing table/dresser. Not only very easy to do via email, extremely quick finishing time! We love it (opted to pick up, but they will ship)! Not an issue for us, but might be for some people: colors come across different digitally than they are in person. If designing a piece specifically via email/pics, keep this in mind. We just got our Drexel buffet refurbished piece delivered and we couldn't be more thrilled. I don't think I've ever loved a piece of furniture like I love this piece. Can't express just how wonderful the whole experience was. Highly recommend them. Local, family-owned shop that ships within the US. Amazing craftsmanship and the prices are crazy good. You'll pay more for cheaply made furniture at Crate and Barrel type stores (and they don't have unique, one-of-a-kind pieces like Megmade). So my review is going to have a little Lemony Snicket touch to it. Fortunately, upon our first visit to MegMade's vast showroom, we found two wonderful pieces of furniture to furnish our new condo. One was a shabby chic buffet cabinet for our upstairs hallway that we wanted to buy "as is" (meaning we liked the rough old finish on it and didn't want to change it). The second was a small vanity desk that was going to be painted white. It was a little short for the vanity chair that I already owned, so Shelby suggested that we add casters to the slender legs to make it taller. Great idea!
Unfortunately, when they added the casters, those slender little wood legs started to split at the bottom shortly after delivery. Fortunately, they agreed to take it back to their shop and try and fix it over the holidays. Unfortunately, the fix was not successful, and we weren't able to arrive at another solution that I was happy with, and I had to return the desk. The wooden legs were ultimately compromised by the caster holes, and it's a tricky area to restore, never able to regain their original stability. Joanna & Shelby were very polite and helpful through the whole process, albeit sometimes slow to respond to my phone messages, and they ended up issuing me a refund and an apology that the desk didn't work out like I had hoped.
In hindsight, the only thing they could've done better was communicate a little more with me when the desk went back to their shop - I was expecting to have some say in what they did to the legs to fix them, but the next call I received was to inform me that the repair was done & to schedule the re-delivery.
MegMade has a great business model, and I love the fact that she's rescuing furniture that would've normally ended up in a landfill. There's a lot of quirky & unique pieces to choose from, so I would go back & shop there again, but my experience with this little desk was a little disappointing. (Because this whole process started in early November and I was tired of not having this room done, I ended up just buying a "Made in China" piece at Home Goods last weekend. Not very original, but at least it's done!) More...

I noticed the sign for Megmade while passing by and decided to stop in today. It was a great little spot for refurbished vintage furniture, and a welcome oasis in the midst of the otherwise corporate wasteland that this stretch of North Elston has unfortunately become.

When I moved into my new apartment I was looking for some real statement pieces , a friend of mine had mentioned MEGMADE  so I decided to stop by .
