Mega Alexander Foods began as an entrepreneurial venture in 2007. The company’s founder and chef, Kaliopi Pappas, or "Popi," was raised with a Mediterranean culinary background by her grandmother and mentor, Maria Pappas. Maria created a long standing, revered reputation for outstanding culinary service, preparing Grecian Delights by the thousands for her Orthodox Church community in Los Angeles.

I can’t say enough good things about Kali and her service. We celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday and Kali made up a custom menu because we had vegetarians and pescatarians to cater to. The food was excellent and our guests had a wonderful variety as well as a good quantity of food. Her charcuterie and cheese board was amazing too. And we didn’t give her much time to pull everything together! Kali came with tables and chairs, all crockery, flatware and linen. She took the stress out of planning this event. We recently had Kali cater our wedding and were very happy. We would not hesitate to recommend Mega Alexander for any of your catering needs. We knew from the get-go that we wanted a family style meal for our 160 guests. From the beginning, Kali was upfront that this would be a large undertaking and would cost more than traditional buffet style catering, but that she was happy to do it for us. Throughout the process she worked with us to keep costs manageable, all while creating a delicious and beautiful menu with food that many of our guests were impressed with...the lamb in particular was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Mega Alexander Foods did a great job catering my mother's celebration of life event. The food looked and tasted amazing! We appreciated all their hard work. I had to organize this event from Toronto. So after talking to several caterers I was happy to find someone who listened to what we wanted, and patiently worked hard to accommodate all of our needs. On the day of the event, Kali and her team showed up couple of hours prior to the event, and did a great job setting up all the food, and stayed to serve and did a great job cleaning after the guests had gone. This allowed us the time we needed to visit with our friends and family members during the event and have no hassle before and after. We didn't have to worry about anything. They took care of and thought of every detail. There was a lot of food and all our guests commented on how everything looked organized, beautiful and most importantly tasty. Mega Alexander Foods catered our wedding of 120 people on March 23rd of this year and we were absolutely blown away! The food tasted incredible and looked so beautiful! Kali goes above and beyond in every area, taste, presentation and customer service. Everything was of the best quality. She makes wonderful Mediterranean food, and many other beautiful dishes. We knew that with a wedding involving two Mediterranean cultures, food was going to be our biggest and most important item. Our people like to eat, and they are picky about the quality of their food! We did tastings with other companies, but they fell short of our expectations. Not Kaliopi! This woman is an ANGEL and her food is from heaven, everyone. We did a Mediterranean feast full of lamb, Grecian chicken, her famous Greek lemon potatoes, and a bunch of amazing sides. The price was very reasonable and more than worth it. Also, I can’t stress enough what a beautiful soul Kali is. She worked tirelessly to make sure our day was perfect, and she and her team went above and beyond on every level. Hire this company!! Kali catered our wedding with 140 guests on July 14th 2018 at Stone Hearst on Salt Spring Island, BC. She and her team did a magnificent job despite very complicated logistics and limited facilities. She had to use a commercial kitchen in Surrey, rent a large truck, get on the 8AM ferry with her team, set up the tables, and finalize the food using the house kitchen (not a commercial kitchen). Our wedding was the largest wedding ever held at the Stone Hearst at the time, and she coordinated with the venue owner to assure that the serving utensils (glasses, dishes, table linen, napkins, etc.) are taken care of. She kindly offered table decoration free of charge and also guided us on details that we may have missed (we did not have a wedding planner). She provided a lot of samples for us few months before the wedding. Her menu was generous in the number of items we could pick for each course and was reasonably priced. As the groom I did not get to eat much but I really liked the lamb dish. I asked multiple guests and everybody was very happy with the food. They liked the prawn appetizer and the wedding rice beside multiple other items. Her serving dishes were elegant and her staff were very helpful and hard working. In terms of improvement, there was some mis-coordination between the servers and the bar (not handled by Kali's team) on white wines. Bar thought servers will take care of wines, and servers thought they will only serve the red wine! as the result a lot of white wines was left for us to drink!We found Kali kind and caring and were very happy to have her in this lifetime experience. I was privileged to have Kali cater a Baby Shower that a couple of friends and I hosted. She did such a fantastic job!!! Oh my!!!! She went out of her way to make everyone outstanding!!! " A Magical Evening" is the only way to describe our experience at the Grecian Party. Kali prepared and displayed all the foods wonderfully. As Doug and I entered the tented area, we were greeted with friendly smiles; along with different wines and cheeses, and Greek appetizers. The atmosphere was calm and inviting. Dinner was wonderfully delicious - so many different Greek foods displayed on huge Greek platters. Sitting with strangers was a wonderful way to make new friends. These potatoes are the BEST I have EVER had!!! I picked up 3 tubs on Monday nite. We ate the first tub that nite. I usually use tiz sauce with Greek potatoes,but these babies need Nothing! !! What’s your signature dish?
We specialize in Mediterranean dishes and stunning Grazing Platters. We have a multitude of mezethes and mouth-watering appetizers! Some of our specialty dishes include our Grecian slow roasted leg of Lamb with garlic and rosemary, Signature roasted Lemon Chicken breast with herbed potatoes and Spanish style Halibut with bacon and smoked paprika.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
We offer our clients an endless choice and variety of dishes that they may choose from as well as tailoring the menus to their specific needs and requests!
What do you love most about your job?
As the head chef and creator of Mega Alexander Foods, I can honestly say I love most creating beautiful dishes for my clients . I also love to SERVE ..... we have a heart-based business where heartfelt service is our priority. I find my joy in the love, smiles and positive feedback we receive from our guests. They feel at home and appreciate the evidence of the LOVE the food is made with !!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I grew up in a Greek household where my grandmother cooked for her whole community and our extended family every day! She was my idol, my inspiration and my fondest memories associated with food, love, and nourishment. I associated my joy and family united together with her love of cooking and service. My family has opened numerous fine dining restaurants over the years, and I have spent my life in the hospitality industry. It was inevitable I would follow my heart!
