Maths Tutoring

Unfortunately we were only able to use for a short time, but would highly recommend. Lots of material provided alongside great patience. Thank you and hope to be in touch in the future. More...

Q&As

Science is filled with abstractions, some of which are non-intuitive if you are unfamiliar. Setting in context, providing the larger picture, resolving confusion and clarifying understanding in my tutees provides me with great satisfaction. Demonstrating how a mathematical model elegantly describes a physical or chemical situation always appeals to me.

I am a Chemical Physics graduate with 24 years experience from my first career as a computer programmer and software engineer. I felt it was time to do something different. Reflecting on my love of mathematics, learning about science and pleasure in explaining these sujects, cause be to choose to make the career change into teaching, training and lecturing in 2002.

I am located in Whitstable with my own transport, so I am available from Sittingbourne, through Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay to Reculver and down to Canterbury.

Services

I am a private academic tutor in the three physical sciences and mathematics. I am unable to offer help in other subjects. I am guided by both the wishes and needs of the student and informed opinions of the parents and school feedback, so will focus on for example, elaborating curriculum content not properly understood, forgotten or practising problem-solving examples.

I tend to be guided by both the wishes and needs of the student and informed opinions of the parents and school feedback, so I will focus on for example, elaborating curriculum content not properly understood, revising curriculum content forgotten or practising problem-solving examples to improve exam technique as appropriate. With adult students, I adopt the style that they request.
