Maxima School of Makeup Artistry is THE premier school for learning all things professional makeup related. Not only that, but the director of the school Salpie is very hands on more than just makeup. We learn everything from sanitation, application and even set etiquette & personal advice that help you reach your goals that much faster. I personally graduated in 2013 and the educational experience I have had in association with this school is fantastic and never ending... Salpie ensures your understanding of the curriculum before graduation and helps you surpass any obstacles even after attendance. You get a fantastic brand new starter kit, and once you've gone through all that makeup (which takes a while even working everyday) the school helps you restock your kit at discounted prices until you, yourself have that ability as a working professional Makeup Artist.  Overall, an amazing experience and I continue to get hands on education working with Salpie today. I have done several movie and commercial she sends you on. As well as assisting her on set, giving you real time experience of what it's like to become a professional certified MUA. I believe the certification is a necessary component to becoming a makeup artist because there is an industry standard and Salpie helps you hit all the criteria to set you up for the success YOU desire. I was looking for someone to do my makeup for my Halloween wedding.  Maxima was the 1st to get back to me & I'm so happy they did. Salpie & 2 other artists came to do mine & my husbands make. It turned out AMAZING!! &  while all the chaos was going on down stairs to set up, these girls made it so relaxing for us. I attended Maxima School of Makeup Artistry in the fall of 2005. The day I got my certification, I got my first movie makeup job & have been working ever since. 12 years later, I can still call Salpie for any questions I have & I did just that this summer when an issue came up & I needed some advice.
Salpie is ALWAYS there for her students. If you're willing to learn, she's there to teach. She's honest & tells it like it is. She doesn't fill your head with what you want to hear. This program is one of the best things that have ever happened to me. Throughout the course I met some girls that I will always hold dear to me and I met the best teacher and mentor I could ask for. Salpie is excellent at pushing her students not through the standard ways. She motivates you to want to succeed on your own. I never give reviews but I felt compelled to do so because of how amazing this school is. These two random negative reviews are absolute lies. Unfortunately, there are always bad apples trying to ruin someone's good reputation. If you want a unbiased and honest review, please read below:I attended and graduated from Maxima about a year ago. I came in to this school not feeling confident and a little apprehensive about my skills and what I would be able to achieve. However, I have to say that I was blown away by Salpie and her dedication to teaching me not only the technical skills to be a quality makeup artist, but she provides her invaluable knowledge regarding business, professionalism and how to have a thriving career. The class sizes are small so she can provide the individualized attention needed to be confident in your skills. Since I graduated I have really grown as a make up artist and have had some great opportunities. What I most appreciate about Salpie is her continuous love and support even after you graduate. She has provided helpful guidance to me when I wasn't sure how to approach or respond to a situation in the industry and its comforting to know Salpie has your best interest at heart.In regards to the makeup kit, I can't emphasis enough that I always get complimented on my make up kit by other make up artists every single time I work at an event. I attended and graduated from Maxima School of Makeup Artisrty about a year and a half ago. When I met Salpie everything I thought I'd find in a makeup school Maxima was what I was looking for. Immediately Salpie made me feel comfortable. She was friendly, warm, to the point, confident and absolutely amazing. Salpie is a very knowledgeable and a very talented/well known makeup artist. She is a dedicated intructor/mentor and someone that truly cares about her students. At Maxima, you get small class sizes to ensure proper one-on-one time and you learn so much in a short period of time She makes sure you do things right and is always there for you when you have questions or need help with anything. Being a makeup artist takes a lot of work. Salpie helps prepare you and point you in the right direction. Maxima makeup artistry is an amazing school! I also attended cosmetology school and can honestly say I learned nothing compared to what I took from Salpie's (the owner) program! So glad I chose to get my makeup education here vs anywhere else. Not only did I learn the techniques to master my skills but I also learned how to network and manage the business side of it. Getting into film makeup was never something I had even thought about before attending these classes but Salpie helped open my eyes and show me all the avenues and possibilities available in the makeup profession. I realized how amazing it was working with a team of people all reaching for the same artistic goal and then seeing your talent come to life on screen! Had I not been given the opportunity by my instructor to go out and work on a few film gigs through her connections, I may have missed out on a lot! I've been in the beauty industry 10+ years now and still believe this is the best place to go even after talking to other people who have attended different schools specializing in the field. Last thing I would like to add.... I noticed some people were complaining about the classes being small. Personally, I think I got a better education because I didn't have to fight 20 other classmates for the attention or help I wanted and needed to be successful!!! More...

I am a former graduate of this amazing school.   The experience was by far the best.  You get the knowledge and expertise of someone who has been in the business for over 30 years. Skills and insights you will not get anywhere else.  Small class size makes it easy to get the help and attention you need.  Salpie, the director of the school is a well known, well respected makeup artist. Which allows her to assist her students in getting jobs. It's been 8 years since I attended Maxima. I am a well established, published, well respected makeup artist in phoenix. I have an extensive portfolio along with several IMDB credits from films I have worked on. Hello everyone who wants an honest opinion about Maxima Makeup Artistry. I have attended maxima less than a year ago and I can say that this school have giving me the opportunity to grow as a makeup artist. Salpie provided the undivided attention to cleanliness, work ethic, business to her students. As a student, I have learn every aspect of makeup from Bridal, T.V., films, special effects, and more. Salpie takes her time in teaching you the techniques you need to be a well establish emerging makeup artist. The Cost and the time is work the experience. I did find it funny that a person would just post a bad review just get out of paying for her program. Anyone who has common sense can honestly can see that is the person who posted the bad review was not a student... it's another person posting for the student.. (sounds like a parent who doesn't want to pay) I mean really, how do you start by saying "I" this and "I" that and then in the same breath say "we" hmmmm who is "WE"? Interesting! Now, if this person Sabrina K. can read any description on categories on Yelp business you can clearly see there is no category just for makeup schools; the nail shop up the street categorizes in Cosmetic and Beauty.  should I give them a bad review because they don't offer cosmetic That's an Yelp issue not a Maxima issue...IJS.... Well back to the real topic at hand. The kit is worth every penny. Since people say we as student receive sample size. Here is a picture of my actual kit. You can be the judge of that.... Are these sample size? Is this makeup worth it? I have literally calculated my products and I know if anyone loves makeup knows how much certain products cost.Saplie provides a kit that prepares you for every aspect in the makeup industry. She has help me get my makeup business started with her continues help during and after you have graduated from the program. Where are you going to find a school that you are able to continue your learning and help you grow your business. You want to do films, Bridal, T.V. I attended school at Maxima Makeup Artistry over 10 years ago. Salpie is an amazing teacher/ mentor/ friend. When I first started I was very shy, not confident in my skills. The class size was very small, and she was able to give me the one on one attention I needed in order to gain my confidence. Over the course Salpie teaches not only proper makeup techniques, and cleanliness but she taught me the ins and outs of being the entrepreneur of my business today.  She takes much pride in seeing her girls succeed, even after 10 years I've become an internationally published makeup artist and she is still there for me when I call for help.
