Licensed Practical Nurse

15 February 2018

I started at Maxim Columbus Branch 3 months ago. I am an LPN in my 20's and back in school for my bachelors degree. Maxim has been very flexible with me on my school schedule and they really try to give me the hours I want and the schedulers listen to your concerns and are not pushy if you cannot do what they are asking. The schedulers/HR staff are mostly in there 20's as well at this branch which I actually really like because they are very easy to relate to and get along with. The nursing supervisors can be hard to get a hold of but they are very busy so it is understandable; but they always get back to you. Training at maxim when you have less than a year of nursing experience is very thorough. They have a "novice nurse" training program in which you shadow for up to 8 weeks. It only took me 5 weeks because I put in more hours each week so I could be on my own sooner. I am very happy with the training I received from Maxim. Since I am fresh out of school they were patient with me and were not judgemental if I didn't know everything. Amount of hours you receive can vary at maxim when you are a newer nurse because they are very choosy about where they place you and want to make sure you are capable of caring for that patient, which I respect. I decided not to use maxim's benefits package this time around because it was a weekly charge and was very expensive in my opinion. Great place to work and I have not experienced any incivility thus far. Everyone is very friendly and tries to help you the best they can.Pros flexibilty if you are in school, friendly, not pushyCons benefit package expensive (high premium, high deductible), amount of hours can vary More...

Like working there. Home care is just not for letting personally. The pay was best around but job can be stressful working with parents that have suffered traumas due to the illnesses their children have.c can be awkward going into people's homes without knowing where you're going or who you're meeting, as well as the cleanliness of the home itself. The management there is excellent they are very lenient and forgiving of absences excetera if you communicate well with them. There are always extra hours to pick up if needed, but there are no people to fill in if there are emergencies that are personal to the nurse. There's nobody to take your place in any way shape or form which can be frustrating due to the fact that you cannot leave work under any circumstances due to Patient abandonment. So if you have a family it tends to be a little harder to work for this type of agency but if you are single this is the perfect job for you.Pros Good pay, flexibility, nica managementCons You don't get any paid vacations or PTO, not very many benefits working here until one year then 5 years More...
