We hired Matt for a joint birthday party in a small town 2 hours south of Chicago. Matt was thoughtful enough to ask for a playlist from me and my friend. I had an awesome experience working with Matt at Mattrix Music and Entertainment. He was amazing from the intial contact through the very end of our event. We booked Matt for a family friendly church event and I had very strict requirements for the music. Matt handled everything with ease, he arrived before his scheduled time, tested the equipment and kept everyone on the dance floor from beginning until “after” the event. MattJ was our DJ for a duo birthday party with my best friend in a small town two hours from the city. He asked my friend and I to send songs we'd like to hear.
We each sent about 20 songs. MattJ was able to perfectly blend our selections together as well as add some really good tracks we hadn't thought of. Our guest and others kept coming up to us asking where our DJ was from saying how they hadn't had as much fun or heard such great music in the area.

Matt is the man! Everyone is always worried about DJs at weddings because quite a few aren't that great. I'll be honest, Matt is the best DJ I've seen so far. He knows his music so well. He responds to emails very quickly and is a great communicator. My experience with MattJDaMattrix, absolutely phenomenal. We asked to meet with him to discuss every detail with our song selections. We provide him with a song list of approximately 50-100 songs and as fate would have it he had every song on our list. He also attended our wedding rehearsal to provide music for the wedding party march. On the day of the wedding he was asked to arrive @ the reception hall 2 hours before we arrive to set up his equipment he was Punctual and ready. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Keeping the party dancing all night is a matter of experience with watching and feeling the energy of the crowd as well as being able to cater to the requests of the people. Different people like different music, and although there is usually a general theme for each event, specific songs can make all of the difference. I have extensive experience in "moving the crowd," which includes controlling culturally divers crowds who's music choices normally may not work together. Knowing your music and meshing with the audience is the secret and can only be mastered with experience, of which, I have over 10 years.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I would describe my style as worldly unlimited. I am into so many different genres and cultures of music, that it all moves me and allows me to have fun with any crowd.
What do you love most about your job?
The most inspiring aspect of my job is not only making and seeing people enjoy themselves but enjoying myself as well with the crowd. We party and have fun together!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Since i was in High School, I have always loved music. whether it was singing, dancing, playing the piano or whatever, I was into it. Then one of my close friends had a basement party that he DJ'd with his own equipment. i asked if i could try, and i quickly realized that i had a knack for counting beats and blending music. He actually let me finish the party! i had such a blast that i decide to start doing small events on my own and realized i could actually make money doing this!! Thus started my DJ career!
