What ever your age or experience level, MatteoBJJ is the place to be. My 6 year old daughter had the same feeling of comfort and excitment that I myself had while training with Matteo. My kids and I have been training with Matteo for a couple of years now. His Jiu Jitsu game is tight (he's a beast!) and his teaching style is on point. He breaks everything down into step by step instruction and doesn't move on until he's confident that you as a student know your stuff. Then what he teaches you next builds on what came before so you're learning and mastering sequences of moves instead of random, unrelated movements. Even the warm-ups are geared to this philosophy; if he's going to teach you a guard pass you're going to warm up that night doing knee slices. In all endeavors in life there are people who excel; rare are the few who excel and can explain the why and the how and impart it to others. Matteo's attention to detail on techniques are fantastic, and his lesson plans are thought out and executed over a week basis. The classes usually start with a conditioning warm-up/workout, followed by 2-3 techinques that are broken down, which you will do multiple timed repetitions on with a partner. He's great with kids as well as adults; very patient. He's also an excellent competitor and human being himself, someone his students can be proud of. Matteo is the best. His knowledge of the sport is rich and he has an incredible talent of teaching in way that’s easy to understand. There hasn’t been one training session go by without me feeling light years ahead of the previous one. My daughter is almost 6 now and she’s been training with his kids class for a few months now. He has a unique ability to keep the kids entertained and engaged. My daughter has a HUGE amount of respect for Matteo and although she can get a little crazy compared to some of the older kids, the way he handles all of it is impressive and inspiring. The new training facility is top notch! Although it’s a bit further from me than the last spot, I would drive even further to learn from him and to maintain the relationship with the Jiu-Jitsu family he has built at Matteo BJJ.
