Masters of Martial Arts Academy is a not for profit sports club providing facilities for the practice and promotion of Ju Jitsu in Blackburn.
We have a brand new full time training venue situated in the heart of Blackburn (right above McDonalds).

Fantastic martial arts school with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly knowledgeable instructors. Signed up my son initially to teach him discipline, increase his social skills, and develop his confidence. It wasn’t long before I joined the adult class myself. At the age of 57 I thought I was passed it and that learning a martial art would remain one of those things I’d always wished I’d done. With the help and encouragement of the amazing Senseis and supportive classmates I am now hooked. My confidence as well as my fitness has increased and I look forward to class every week. My son and I enjoy belonging to and enjoying the sport together and we feel like we have joined not just a club but a family. My sons confidence is increasing week by week and he has widened his social circle making many new friends he looks forward to seeing each week. Casey has been going for over 4 years, its like our second home before joining MMA Casey was really shy, she struggled at school because she was that shy.
Little dragons Sensi Stephen Nightingale helped improve her confidence and gained her trust, I was so impressed with little dragons, as she learnt so much more than i expected. She began her MMA journey achieving her star awards counting and speaking some Japanese, meeting new friends and even learning important life skills. (She even made me checked my smoke alarms every week!)
When turning 7 she started MMA juniors with the help from Sensi Stephen Nightingale, Sensi Phil Turner, Sensi Leo Turner and many more, she has achieved so much. Working really hard learning her syllabus also, she really enjoys going to the competition class and taking part at competition's. I cant thank all them enough for what they have done/still doing to help and support Casey’s dream, Its honestly like a big family.
I would definitely recommend!! Come take advantage of the free trail you wont be disappointed, I can truly say you get more than what you pay for.

Our children love coming here, the senseis are patient and encouraging and the sessions are varied. I have joined the ladies only class which is great. A thorough workout and the opportunity to mark achievement with gradings ( belts)as you progress. Would recommend. More...

I started jiu jitsu at the academy about a month ago and so far i really can say its been a joy to train, everybody has been very welcoming and friendly which really does help easing in to starting a new sport and takes away any awkwardness about not knowing anybody there. I would definitely recommend Masters of Martial Arts to anyone who wants to start a martial art as the sensei's are very skilled at what they do and are very helpful in breaking down techniques in ways which make it easier to understand and perform. My son is now 15 yrs old and has Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, he had been turned away from so many different activities when he was young which was not a good experience. He started doing jujitsu when he was 7 yrs old and has not looked back. His confidence and self esteem have grown. The discipline of Jujitsu has been brilliant to help with his anger management and outbursts.jujitsu was a turning point for him and he has gone on and on to have better anger management and control. He is able to defend himself and his social skills have improved greatly. He has taken part in competitions and enjoyed the competitiveness. The feeling of satisfaction at the end of a session when you’ve given 30 kids or adults a great experience. The look on their faces says it all
What inspired you to start your own business?
Martial arts has been a passion of mine since 1982, and I’ve taught it since 1997. It has always been a dream of mine to run a full time venue which was realised in 2017. It’s not like working - it’s just great.
