What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Making the subject feel at ease in my company is so very important in taking a great photograph: each any every photograph reflects the true happiness and atmosphere of the moment.
Once good rapport has been created, the next most important thing is to be prepared - for any eventuality! Visualising the moment and the type of photographs that I want to capture is so important to me, ensuring that lens choice, camera settings, vantage point and lighting are all being considered - yet this has to happen discreetly, seamlessly and without hesitation or that magical moment could well be lost, and for that I call upon my wealth of photographic experience.
Finally, the very best camera equipment - whilst not the be-all-and-end-all - helps hugely: with my lenses I can create beautifully crisp images with incredible depth of field that are simply not possible to capture with lesser equipment.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
This is all about the client: I first very attentively listen to the client to fully understand their requirements and then help to guide them with their choices. Im most cases, approaching the client in such a way means that I have all the information that I could need to then provide an excellent service for them.
What do you love most about your job?
I love so many aspects of photography: the creativity of it is always hugely exciting, and successfully rising to varying challenges is always hugely rewarding; I love meeting new people, the fact that no two weddings are ever the same...and ultimately, witnessing the sheer joy of couples receiving their edited wedding images from me is a feeling that is always magical.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Being inundated with requests to photograph weddings for friends of friends, to shoot family portraits and to help businesses become more visible , I discovered that what was initially my 'hobby' was considered much more valuably by clients, so my career shifted to that of photography - and I have not once looked back!
