I had the absolute pleasure of attending my son's wedding at this venue on the 7th September. What a stunning venue, set in green parklands just off the Curragh, Co Kildare. When you arrive at the house, you are completely taken with the location, and the lush parklands around it. The owner, Edward, is always available, as are the rest of the staff. Nothing was too much to ask for on the day. The food was amazing, and served with a great welcome by the staff. The guest bedrooms are sumptuous, with fantastic ensuite bathrooms worth a look just for themselves. We had the Gods on our side for the weather on the day, which meant we could take drinks on the lawn, and have a wonderful relaxing afternoon. This place is a secret hideaway that needs to be shared with as many prospective wedding couples as possible! More...

We had a really fabulous wedding weekend in Martinstown House. The delicious food and the laid-back atmosphere and charm of the venue were exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Additionally, the ability to decorate the marquee to put our mark on the wedding added real appeal. The staff get full marks - Irish hospitality at its best. The communal breakfast with our close family and friends around the big table the morning after was really special and an unexpected highlight. Not only did we have a fantastic weekend - so many of our guests commented on the delicious food and the beautiful gardens too. After just an hour-long drive from Dublin, we arrived at the gates of Martinstown House, sensing immediately that something special was about to be revealed at the top of the meandering tree lined avenue. We spent just a few months planning our wedding and Martinstown was our first and only hotel viewing. Enough said. As we drove up to the house, we began to dream that this would be where we would get married. ||We felt a sense of warmth and welcome from the first minute. The house is a treasure. We loved it so much that we almost wanted to keep it a secret. Filled with history around every corner, it’s an amazing Strawberry Gothic beauty, by Victorian architect Decimus Burton. It fitted perfectly with our dream of vintage themed wedding. It’s so comfortable and homely - we cannot speak highly enough of the warm, cosy and immaculate bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, which we were more than delighted to show our friends to when they arrived for the big day (and night) with us. There is also great accommodation available in the lovely courtyard.||The walled “Secret” garden was for us our perfect setting for the ceremony and we were lucky to have fantastic weather to have drinks on the lawn with our family and friends afterwards. This was followed by a fantastic and taste-filled sophisticated dinner in a candlelit dining room which included a delicious homemade garden soup, perfectly cooked guinea fowl, vegetables and potatoes and, not one, but a trio of exquisite desserts. It was clear that all of our guests really enjoyed the feast. Later, the dining room was quickly cleared to allow for everyone to dance late into the night. Luckily, the weather was so good that guests also had the choice to drink and mingle outside at a log fire on the lawn. A memorable day was had by everyone. ||After a refreshing morning shower in a spotlessly clean and spacious bathroom, we came down to a first-class breakfast with our friends and family of full Irish, sausages, bacon, eggs from the farm, mushrooms, tomatoes, pudding, homemade muesli and preserves, a selection of yogurts, fresh fruit and cheese, coffee and tea and more. It was delicious and a lovely way to say goodbye to our guests. ||Edward, Jessica and Andrew were very visible and involved throughout our stay, ceremony and reception, moving around to make sure that everyone was comfortable and well looked after. It must have been about 4am when we went to bed, and they were still downstairs entertaining our friends and family in the late bar. When we woke the next morning, we looked outside to see Jessica showing another couple around the grounds as the heavens poured down. They work tirelessly and always with a smile.||We could not speak highly enough of the quality of hospitality of everyone at Martinstown. Planning a wedding can be stressful and they certainly have a special ability to reassure you that everything is going to be ok. We certainly had many questions by phone and email – all of which were met with efficiency and courtesy. Thank you for the wonderful welcome, service and memories. John & Marc. More...

Edward and his family must be congratulated for their outstanding hospitality and careful maintenance of this beautiful historic country house . It is full of charm and comfort, surrounding by gorgeous gardens and countryside. Dining is a delight such is the standard of the food served with pride and passion. The house has retained it's old world charm and has not changed decor or amenities to any great degree. It is still possible to enjoy the feeling of being living in the house in Victorian times. Not only is the house authentic but you have the extensive grounds with a walled garden and even an old Icehouse. The wedding venue in the woods has been upgraded but still retains its woodland charm. It is a place to consider when looking for a special place top hold that special event. More...
