MMID helped me with 2 bathroom projects. The master bath was gutted and another full bath received a major facelift.
Marta and her team saved the day on the Master BR project. I came very close to signing a contract for a design my husband and I did not like. MMID listened to what was important to us and gave us several designs from which to choose. I was impressed with the creativity of the designs. Marta and her designers are energetic and full of good ideas! Ultimately, we decided on a design which placed the shower in front of the window, where we are able to get natural light with a cool design of frosted glass on the architectural block.

We are so pleased with the bathroom design and with the storage closet, vanity, tile, fixtures, color and lighting that MMID selected (for both bathroom projects). Marta also helped reconfigure our bedroom and even found a new dresser for me.

At the outset of the project, I asked Marta for contractor recommendations. JLand Construction was a terrific fit for our projects. Marta and her team are incredibly responsive, thorough and creative. They have great sources and contacts. I could not have completed this project and been as pleased with the result without MMID. I had moved into a new house about a year before I started working with Marta. She met with me and really listened to my thoughts and the look I was trying to achieve. I had gotten my house to a certain point but it wasn't quit there. She had the perfect plan - 2 1/2 tons of bricks removed, relocating powder and laundry rooms, etc. One project led to another and our home is truly amazing! Marta and Annelise were so calm and reassuring during the entire project. They listened and had wonderful ideas and incorporated the items we love. Marta is wonderful!!

I recently bought a fairly "dated" house - walls needed to be taken down and the entire first floor needed to be updated. Marta handled the project from the start with wonderful designs, excellent ideas and she worked with the contractors from start to finish. Her knowledge of color, fabrics and furniture were fantastic and she turned my new house into the perfect home for me!

Marta provided a paint color consultation for one of our clients that was having trouble making color choices. Marta was professional, knowledgeable, and has a great eye for detail. Marta Mitchell has helped me with various projects from a complete kitchen and bath remodel to paint colors to picture hanging. I have worked with Marta on a number of home remodeling and redecorating projects over the past fifteen years. (My most recent project with her involved designing an outdoor kitchen/fireplace area. ) Marta is a pleasure to work with - friendly yet totally professional - and does high-quality work. That is why I return to her time and again. She always begins by listening to my ideas. When she thinks one of my ideas is not going to work, she tactfully speaks up. When she develops plans, she keeps in mind the vision you have given her so that the end product will be something that you like, not just something that Marta likes. If you do not like the plan she has developed (which is rare!), Marta is not offended -- she listens to your concerns and then gets to work on a new plan that you will like. Her receptiveness to her clients is one of her best traits as a professional.

The people who work for her on various tasks (such as painting, making window treatments and linens, installing a granite counter-top, and so forth) are top-notch. I have always been pleased with the quality of their work. Marta is a consummate professional --she gets projects completed in a timely manner and within the budget you give her. We have used Marta numerous times over the last 10 years, most recently to help us re-paint our entire house, including ceilings and trim, replace carpet and to furnish at least 50% of our new house. She is extremely professional, timely and very creative. I have used her from something as small as picking out fabric for a new sofa to this most recent project. She will use your existing furniture/accessories and work around what you have or create a whole new environment for you. Marta is the consummate professional and an outstanding designer--I would recommend her without reservation. Marta oversaw the interior renovation of a beach house that we had purchased that was in need of significant updating. We did not have a lot of time to do legwork on the project because we both work full-time, but Marta did not hesitate to take this work on, which we really appreciated. She visited the property (which was a considerable distance for her to travel) and presented us with a three stage plan that would allow us to make decisions based on both practical and financial constraints. She then came back to us for ideas for making the changes we decided on. She was responsive to our preferences, rather than pushing her own on us, which we really appreciated. She helped us to understand why she was making particular recommendations, which we thought helped us make better decisions. She shopped with us both online and at local furniture stores. She arranged furniture delivery and then spent a weekend in the house putting up artwork and arranging furniture and all the little odds and ends that pulled things together for us. She worked with our contractor as well to make sure that his end of the work was being done well. Overall, it was an extremely positive experience and we would easily work with Marta again. Marta Mitchell is great to work with, she has incredible vision, energy and talent. Marta assisted us with a whole house renovation which was really overwhelming until Marta got involved. She broke it down into smaller manageable projects and really guided me through all the decisions. Marta also has a knack for using items you already have so as to keep costs down which is always a plus.

Marta is phenomenal when it comes to color and ways to use it successfully as well as finding unique but functional furnishings. We have four children and a very busy life. I needed furniture that I would love for a long time but also that would hold up to the rigors of children - Marta's suggestions were great!

Marta designed a fairly major project in our home which was just completed recently. We added on a new screened-in porch and deck and updated our kitchen, half-bath and laundry room. She was involved from beginning to end, from suggesting a variety of layouts, recommending colors, materials, lighting and fixtures and working closely with us in furniture selection. She tuned in easily to our preferences and naturally and intuitively worked within our budget.

The project turned out beautifully and Marta was terrific. She is extremely smart, very responsive, and adaptable to changes. She worked very well with our contractor who she did not know beforehand (and who became a big fan of hers!) which made it all very easy for us. In addition to helping us with the colors for this project, Marta looked at the house as a whole and recommended colors for every room, thereby giving us the roadmap for future work we may want to do without even being asked. It is that wholistic approach that helps her do such great work.

Marta Mitchell is an excellent home designer, interior decorator and a fun person to work with. I have had the privilege of working with Marta Mitchell on two significant projects, the first being my primary residence in Greensboro, NC and the second more recently, furnishing a brand new vacation home in Hilton Head Island, SC. Like many people, I know what I like in a home but need to see that look, design or furnishing in person or on paper to know that it is the one for me. That takes a great deal of time, and you need to travel in those circles to be exposed to a wide variety of diverse furnishings. Marta spent a great deal of time searching through the universe of home furnishings out there to find those that meshed with the “theme” for the house and my personal tastes.

Marta has an amazing capability to absorb your vision for your place, and help you execute on it. I'm originally from NY (upstate), but have always been fond of the contemporary look of a "New York City loft". With Marta's help & direction, we were able to transform my basic Greensboro townhouse into a stylish and award-winning loft. In addition to furnishing about 1,700 square feet, there were several pieces that had "sentimental value" to me that Marta was willing and able to blend into the overall design.

We are well underway on the Hilton Head project, and I'm incredibly excited with how it's turning out. It is a brand new 4,000 square foot property that needed to be furnished from scratch. It is a “beach” property and the desired look is obviously completely different than my primary residence. Time is of the essence as I am anxious to get the property rented out, but I am very conscious of costs as I know renters may not always treat the belongings with the same care that I would ;-). That said, I want it to feel like "my home". Each of the bedrooms has a "theme" related to the beach, and the colors and pieces Marta's selected fit perfectly with the theme and my personal tastes. Marta has kept the time frame and cost constraints in mind throughout the process. In addition to being a fantastic beach place for me to escape to, it will be an excellent source of rental income to me from those folks who want to temporarily call it home.
