Services

If you are a building owner, an employer or you are responsible for managing construction, maintenance or repair works on a building, you have a legal duty to manage any asbestos in it, so as to protect people from the exposure to asbestos fibres (under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 20012).

The key phase in the management of asbestos is to identify the location, type, condition and extent of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs). Marpal can accomplish this by carrying out an asbestos survey. The type of survey conducted will be dependent upon the nature and the activities being carried out, or the proposed activities within your premises. There are two types of survey: -

i) Management Surveys
ii) Pre Demolition/Refurbishment Survey

Management and Pre-Refurbishment/Pre-Demolition Asbestos Surveys are all carried out in accordance with HSG264 (Asbestos: The Survey Guide); all our surveyors are P402 Asbestos Surveyor qualified.

An Asbestos Survey Report will be prepared following each survey. The report will assist the building owner/occupier to manage asbestos containing materials (ACM’s) in their premises. Where asbestos containing materials are identified we will include recommended remedial actions to be undertaken to mitigate any risks to those occupying the premises.

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT PLANS / RE-INSPECTIONS/MANAGEMENT OF ASBESTOS ABATEMENT WORKS

Your duties don’t end there - once the location, type, condition and extent of any ACMs have been established there is a duty to manage. As part of our services we will manage asbestos on your premises by preparing an Asbestos Management Plan; the overall aim is that all ACMs, though inspections, re-inspections, remedial or removal works are effectively managed and risks of exposure reduced.

Marpal offer Fire Safety Services to most industry sectors across the UK. As an employer, landlord or responsible person of premises, you have certain legal responsibilities regarding fire safety to your employees, tenants and/or visitors under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. You must, regardless of the level of risk, conduct a Fire Risk Assessment.

FIRE RISK ASSESSMENTS

A good Fire Risk Assessment can significantly reduce the risk of fire at your premises. Marpal employ highly qualified Fire Risk Assessors to undertake your Fire Risk Assessment(s). We provide all of our Clients with a clear and easy to understand Fire Risk Assessment Report that satisfies regulatory requirements and includes a Fire Action Plan based on the significant findings.

Your Fire Risk Assessment should be reviewed at least annually or when there has been a significant change to your premises, such as a change in use, change in staffing levels or if there has been a fire incident.

FIRE WARDEN TRAINING

In order to discharge your responsibilities under the Fire Safety Order, you must ensure that your staff receive appropriate training and know what to do in the event of a fire. Marpal offer on-site Fire Warden Training which is specifically tailored for your sector.

FIRE SAFETY PLANNING

When you are planning to construct your new premises, alter or extend, the fire safety risks can be significantly reduced by reviewing the fire safety strategy during the design development stage. Utilising our experienced staff, Marpal can advise Architects and Designers on their fire strategies, or even provide Clients with an independent assessment.

FIRE SAFETY MANUALS

The Fire Safety Manual is designed to assist those responsible for the premises, including Managers and Employees so as to ensure that the premises in which you work is safe from fire. Marpal can develop on your behalf, property specific Fire Safety Manuals.

Under Health and Safety Law in the UK companies who employ 5 or more people must have access to competent Health and Safety Advice.

Since 1998, Marpal have provided CDM Consultancy services to the Construction industry. We have established a reputation for our proactive, common sense approach to the CDM Regulations. Utilising our highly skilled and experienced professionals we assist Construction Clients, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors in complying with their CDM obligations.

A Client under the CDM Regulations is defined as anyone for whom a construction project is carried out. The definition includes both commercial and domestic Clients. When a construction project is being carried out, Marpal can assist Commercial Clients to comply with their health and safety duties imposed on them by CDM Regulations 2015.

Marpal provide health and safety assistance to the Principal Contractor, not only by providing sound health and safety advice, but also by helping to develop Construction Phase Plans, reviewing Method Statements and Risk Assessments, undertaking Site Safety Inspections, checking competencies, developing policies and procedures, preparing Health & Safety Files and Building Manuals.
