I can’t say enough about Mark and his ability to push kids to be the best that they can be. Our daughter was going to Gold fish school for over a year. Even though she was in level 6 we felt that she wasn’t a good swimmer. One of our friends recommended that we try Mark out. OMG. In just 2 month she can swim 6 lengths of the pool without stopping. Her technique and stamina are unbelievable. She just joined swimming team at her school and she’s faster than kids 2-3 years older than her. If you want your child to get it right and quick, Marks Swim Academy is your safe bet.Yuri.K More...

My son started lessons with Mark almost 7 years ago and that were Mom-Pop-and-Me classes. It was a lot of fun for the whole family. And since then my son continues to take lessons with Mark and really loves them. Mark is an awesome coach! Highly recommended for kids and adults of all ages. More...

We enrolled our three children at Mark's Swim Academy nearly a year ago and their improvement has been dramatic. He is the first swim instructor we found who actively corrects flaws in technique while building stamina and fitness. We rate him five stars as an instructor. More...

Last week marks three years since my Alesha in Mark's class. He started at 4 and was not "easy student" and his progress is built on extensive work with Mark and on Mark's patience. It was no single day when Alesha did not want to go into class. He never lost his desire to learn and always enjoying time spent with Mark - amazing teacher , amazing man , amazing person. More...

Our son has become a much stronger swimmer under Mark's close eye. He has built significant power in his swimming fundamentals and skills over the past year and learns a lot every session. We plan to keep going to Mark's Swim Academy and are excited to see his love of swimming continue to grow. More...

We highly recommend swimming lessons with Mark. Our elder son has been in Mark's groups for more than 6 years (since he was 3 y. o.). He loves swimming and is very confident in all swimming tests he takes. Our daughter started taking lesson when she was 3.5 y.o. and has been swimming with Mark since then. She is at level 5 of American red cross swimming test (age 7 now).

Mark is a great teacher. He knows when to challenge kids and when to let them show their confidence. He is patient with students and can find the right approach to every kid.

You won't regret if you send your kid to Mark's Swim Academy.

Our son has attended Mark's Swin Academy for about 4 years, and we're way more than satisfied by the quality of teaching and by what our son learnt there. We've started when our son didn't know how to swim without swimming aids. We've tried multiple swimming lessons before (including ones at YMCA, Waverly Oaks Athletic Club and few schools operated by local towns) but our son learnt absolutely nothing there. At Mark's Swimming Academy he started swimming alone without any aids in few lessons. We don't know how Mark managed to make it but that was definitely spectacular! However more important is to see how our son gradually continued expanding his swimming skiils. Mark has multiple levels at his school, so step by step, under Mark's supervision, our son managed to reach the most challening level. And his progress is visible with such naked laymen eyes as ours! So that's the only swimming lessons we didn't regret to take for our son! More...

Q&As

All classes are taught by an experienced Swim Instructor, Mark Roizman, owner of Mark's Swim Academy, in Waltham, MA.

Roizman has been teaching swimming for more than 30 years both in the United States and in Moldova (the former Soviet Union). He has a Master’s degree in physical education from the Pedagogical University of Moldova.

Roizman teaches individuals anywhere from six months old to adults. Instead of breaking things down into age groups, Roizman separates his clients into levels depending on their ability. He teaches front curl (freestyle), backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and flip turns.

“The most important thing about working with kids is that you have to love them. You have to teach them step by step and you can’t jump over things. The most important thing that I can tell people is that I start with the basics and work my way up when I teach.”

“Swimming is a special sport. It is one of those sports where you can’t start and stop because then there is a good possibility that the fear of the water will come back. It is important to introduce things to people and never push. People will learn quickly if you teach on their individual level rather than teaching at your pace.”
