We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding photographer than Mark! He spoke to us in the run up to the wedding about the different shots we would like on the day and then was sure to capture them. He was there from when we started getting ready to after people were on the dance floor, meaning that he captured all aspects of the day. He was also really friendly and struck up a great rapport with our guests, accommodating any requests. There are a great mix of staged shots and natural unposed pictures, capturing all the events and many facial expressions of the day! The final images are wonderful and we are so pleased. We haven’t actually received our photos yet (as they were only taken today!) However I can’t sing Mark’s praises enough. We had an outdoor family portrait session - dog included - and Mark was so so wonderful from start to finish. Having our photos taken with Mark genuinely felt like a nice day out with a very talented friend. We chose Mark after seeing him in action at a friend’s wedding back in 2016 and we just loved how well he blended in with rest of the guests at the wedding and captured such beautiful natural photographs.

Mark did a pre-wedding photo shoot with us last year where we got engaged. It was lovely to have some photos in our special place but the best thing was we felt like we’d made a new friend that day as Mark made us feel so comfortable in his company and in front of the camera.

Mark captured our wedding day this June and had our photographs ready for us within 3 weeks as promised. He has really managed to capture the whole essence of the day from start to finish. On the day itself Mark was a dream, so laid back and just going with the flow of the day and snapping away. He was great with all of our guests, still taking requests for photographs even when he was trying to leave at around 11pm!

Mark is literally THE BEST!!! From the moment we met him I knew we had made the right decision! He takes absolutely brilliant photos and documented the whole day in a sensitive and accurate way. Mark photographed our wedding in October last year at Ringwood Hall as well as doing an engagement shoot in York city centre a couple of months before. My husband and I weren’t keen on a camera in our faces all day, but Mark made us and our guests feel totally at ease. Mark shot our wedding in March and our pre-wedding shoot last year. Each time Mark put us at ease and made us feel comfortable even though we aren't comfortable in front of the camera. Mark was the only photographer who wanted to meet us before he let us book him to make sure he could provide the right service that we wanted. All our guests commented on how amazing the photos are. I cannot recommend Mark highly enough. He is an absolute marvel and I cannot thank him enough for our incredible wedding photos. From our first meeting we knew we had chosen the right photographer. We already knew he was a brilliant photographer from his website, and in person he has a friendly and relaxed nature which puts you instantly at ease.On our wedding day it rained all day and night, and I was really worried about the impact that this would have on our photos. That worry was completely unfounded. Mark captured the happy, vibrant and laid back nature of our day perfectly. His reportage style means our photos are alive with funny faces and silly moments, rather than just lots of posed group shots. Mark is amazing! We cannot imagine a more enthusiastic and talented wedding photographer. Despite there being many wedding photographers out there, Mark has managed to create his own unique and natural style, which really stood out for us. And he is just such a nice guy. Mark is an extremely warm and friendly person who put everyone at ease at our wedding. This is such a great skill as it meant he was able to take some cracking shots. He was very discreet when shooting, but many people came up to us and said what a lovely man he is. He put up with a group of girls beautifying themselves for the morning and joined in our banter and made us all laugh. Not only did this result in great photos but also made it one of my favourite parts of the day. We can not believe how hard working Mark is. He was there from breakfast to the last dregs of people on the dance floor. All the time with a smile on his face! Thanks to his hard work we now have incredible photos of the entire day. Mark really gives it his all. He doesn't stop once the wedding is over. Within a couple of days he had uploaded ten photos for us to look at, just because Eoin had mentioned it would be good to see some on our honeymoon. This was above and beyond and shows how much he really cares about his clients. Mark offers a free engagement shoot for clients and this meant we got to get to know Mark and his passion for photography. He also got to know us and our style, which made us feel very comfortable chatting to him and not at all anxious about the photographs on the day. Throughout the process, Mark was extremely quick to reply to emails and check any details of our wedding with us to ensure that the day would go smoothly and that he would achieve what we wanted. We knew he would do a brilliant job. Our wedding was a little less structured than some. For example we had no seating plan or sit down meal. We had also asked for no formal photos, as we just wanted action photos of people through the day. This must have made it incredibly difficult for Mark as people were all over the place, all the time! However Mark completely took it in his stride and through his amazing skill, he managed to get photographs of all our guests having a brilliant time. We don't know how he did it! Mark's photos arrived beautifully presented on lovely wooden memory sticks with his logo and within three weeks of the wedding. Three weeks! I do not know of any other wedding photographers who are so dedicated and love their job so much, that they will work their socks off to do this. Mark's photography skills are incredible. We are absolutely thrilled with our photographs. They are exactly what we wanted and had asked of Mark. He delivered way beyond our expectations. They are so natural and filled with the fun we felt on our day. He captured all the hilarious and touching moments of the day so beautifully. Mark was absolutely fantastic. From our first meeting with mark we felt very comfortable and able to relax - exactly want you want in a wedding photographer! From our engagement shoot to our actual wedding everything with Mark ran smoothly - He was very professional, but also friendly, and even turned up to shoot our wedding day an hour after his first child was born!We received our wedding pictures within days of returning from our honeymoon and they were fantastic - all 900+ of them!So many of our guests commented on how excellent the pictures are and how good Mark was on the day. From arriving at my parents house and putting up with 4 very giggly girls getting ready to an epic Mcfly soundtrack (sorry Mark!) Mark really got involved with the banter and managed to get some fab photos! Once we arrived at our venue I don't think I noticed Mark until the time came for group pictures! But there are some amazing ones from my arrival and the service - it just goes to show how unobtrusive he was whilst managing to record everything! Everyone always says this line, but we actually can't recommend Mark enough. From the first meeting at our home, we just felt so at ease with him and this is coming from two awkward turtles who hate having their photo taken! The engagement shoot which was included in the package (which we were both quite nervous about for the awkward turtle reason above!), was fabulous. It was a chance for Mark to get to know what it takes to get us relaxed in front of the camera, and meant we were used to being natural in front of him too. The photos were gorgeous and just got us both super excited for the big day. Mark was an absolute diamond on the day. He was with us first thing in the morning, right through to the last moment at night when the light was too low to see anything at all! For someone so incredibly tall, he managed to slip himself between guests seamlessly and snapped some of the most beautiful, natural pictures at moments no one even knew he was present for. The photos are absolutely stunning and perfectly capture our character and the relaxed vibe of the day. So I'll repeat what I said at the beginning of this (very lengthy) review: we can't recommend him enough. He is a joy to have around and an incredibly talented man to boot. Your wedding photos are what your grandchildren will pour over in years to come - you want them to be perfect and with Mark they will be. After researching many different photographers for our wedding, we were recommended Mark by a friend who had also recently booked him. Mark offered an amazing package, which was more than reasonable in comparison, and was also a local company. The package included a pre-wedding shoot, in a location chosen by ourselves, and which Mark was more than happy to travel to. We were able to discuss the style of photos we were after on our Big day, which also gave us an opportunity to understand what was required of us. As a couple where neither of us are comfortable in posing, Mark was extremely friendly and made us relax into the day. On the Big Day itself, Mark was there from start to finish, literally! He gave everything to making the day as easy and stress free as possible, interacting with all the guests and making them as comfortable as we were. He understood everything we wanted and really delivered this. The feedback from our guests was as good, saying how unobtrusive he was and approachable. Photography is an underrated skill these days, what with the capability of smart phones and filter technology readily available to everyone. Though, when you actually take time to appreciate the work of a committed and gifted photographer like Mark Hillyer you soon realise photography is a genuine art. Mark is clearly passionate about photography but particularly about his profession. He's a really easy going gent of a fellow who works WITH you to ensure the right images are captured how YOU wish. We can't fault his work and felt at ease through both pre-shoots (the first was hampered by rain and thus rearranged at no extra charge and no fuss). Mark provides amazing value for money, working from the crack of dawn until late into the evening ensuring every moment was captured in a discreet and non intrusive manner. Mark was everything you want from your wedding photographer. He spends a lot of time with you beforehand, getting to know you while he does a pre-wedding/engagement shoot to see how you are in front of the camera etc. . so you can rest assured that he is well prepared. On the day he turned up 9am as promised, and didn't finish until around 11:30pm - which is an extremely long day and yet he was on very good form and a great person to have around for the whole thing! He doesn't charge anything extra for staying so late and everything, including the engagement shoot, is included in his very reasonably priced package. Of course, most importantly, the photos were amazing! We were thrilled with them and had a lovely evening looking through them all. Mark was an absolutely fantastic photographer! He was there for the entire day - starting with getting ready and all the way through until the end of the Reception. He captured so many little details of the day, and was great at getting the best out of everyone (he is also great with kids!) Mark was a brilliant photographer and we are extremely happy with our photographs. I'm not keen on photos of myself usually so the idea of being photographed all day was not something I was particularly keen on. Mark put us at ease as soon as we met him and the engagement shoot (included in the price) was a great way to introduce himself to us properly. On the day Mark fitted in perfectly, chatting to myself and guests and making me forget there was a photographer there which was ideal. Mark has an informal style and was there until late in the evening which resulted in some great dancing shots! The editing was really quick and professional so we didn't have to wait long to relive our big day.
