I just a haircut from Poddie yesterday and I have to say - I love my haircut!! He is one of the best stylist here in Los Angeles. He takes his time assessing my hair from roots to the tips even with the direction of my hair growth. There have been 2+ years since I have been going to Mario for my hair and I still wish I could give him infinite stars for the magic he does to my hair. I had to follow up a year later when I came to see Mario for another color fix. Not quite so disastrous as my first visit, this time my blonde highlights were showing severely-overgrown, ugly dark roots, and a brassy tone. I wanted to re-color it more naturally brown for upcoming job interviews. My hair was in much better condition than it was last year, but it still has a long way to go. Mario remembered me from last year immediately, asking if I still wanted to keep the focus on my hair health and suggesting a compromise semi-permanent color that would fix the brassy, outgrown blonde without continuing to damage my fragile hair.I waited a couple weeks to see how the color and cut grew out, and can say I honestly still double-take in the mirror at how thick and healthy my hair looks now compared to the stringy, uni-layer it used to be. I'm very impressed with how it held up - the volume I kept asking for is very much present in my thin, fine hair, like I rarely get it anywhere else.He's not cheap, but even without a job, I invested in seeing him again because I knew he's worth it. This review is super late, and I'd be lying if part of the reason I've been putting off the review had nothing to due with me wanting to keep Mario to myself. Let's be honest, it's a tragedy when our beloved go-to establishment - whether it be a restaurant, nail salon, or hair stylist - is no longer accessible. That being said, it's even *more* of a tragedy when our beloved go-to establishment relocates because of our flawed and misguided attempt of trying to keep it in business.These are the following reasons I'm going back to Mario:- Mario will not push any products on you, but will happily answer any product questions you have. Personally, I loved that, and it made me want to go to him to get all my styling tools and products. And I absolutely will any time I want to purchase one.- I didn't cry after my haircut. No, you don't understand. It took me hours to find Mario because I wanted to make sure that I could go to a stylist who had given multiple haircuts with long layers without sending the customer to a review site to seek vengeance. It's harder than it sounds. I'm talking about the haircut, not the search. - Not only did my mom not cry after my haircut, she didn't even notice it. That's a bigger deal than me not crying.- Free parking. Park in the Trader Joe's lot directly across the street. Validation is provided once you enter the salon building. IMPORTANT: Wait for the light to turn green before you remove the parking ticket, otherwise the validation will not register. - Mario's music playlist is on point. This is just a bonus.- The amount he charges you is the amount he quotes when you ask. $85. Mario runs his business with integrity. I have been going to Mario for a year now. I had just moved to UCLA for med school and a priority of mine was to find my new hair home. I was impressed with the five-star reviews on Yelp and so booked an appt online. Here's the thing:In the short-term, Mario is super talented at classic feminine cuts and combining your interests with his expertise. He is a gem inside and out, a caring and passionate human who I always look forward to seeing. The vibe at his studio is hip but super relaxed. I left today feeling super confident and fem, it was the first time I felt like my hair was showing off my personality. I wish I could get my hair cut more often with him but I don't need to because it stays looking so good.In the long-term, I have never loved my hair more. I have wavy hair and used to use a curling iron on it daily to tame the unruliness. In the past year, since going to Mario, I have used it maybe 3 times. I feel like my hair is growing back tamer and healthier with each cut and I am loving my natural texture that is being shaped by the strong cuts.Clearly can't say enough good things, try him out for yourself :) More...

As you can see the progress in my hair. I have progressed in lightening my hair,  Mario never ceases to amaze me He is so amazing at his craft. From Brazilian to highlights to dying he is the best. He is the master of hair. Everyone that I have referred to him absolutely adores and loves his work. Every other hairstylist I've gone to has never been able to give me the quality of work Mario has been able to. He understands hair types & hair needs so well & treated my hair accordingly.  Besides getting my hair colored,  I also got the Brazilian Blowout & my hair looks & feels like a million buck$. Mario did a really great job cutting my hair for the first time. Showed him a couple pics of my usual haircut and he got it perfect. Super detail oriented and very friendly. Would definitely recommend for guys looking for a haircut with a nice fade. Was a lot pricier than what I'm used to, but likely due to being Westwood where everything is more expensive. Mario is an AWESOME hairdresser! I came here for the first time and he gave me the cut I wanted but after 2 weeks the cut just wasn't what I thought it would look like. So I called back and asked if I could have my cut adjusted, told them I was there 2 weeks ago and Mario had me come in that day to give me the look I now wanted and at a more than decent rate! Salons in LA are SO overpriced, I was expecting him to charge me for a whole new cut but he understood how the cut I'd gotten wasn't working and let me come right in to adjust. I came for a color correction, a cut, and a Brazilian Blowout. Mario and Golda knocked every single one out of the park. I had a disastrous dye job before that left me with 4 different shades of blonde across the back of my head and Mario managed to completely revive my hair's condition and completely fix the color. I came back a few days later for a Brazilian Blowout and was equally impressed. I have had Brazilian Blowouts and Keratin treatments done before, but this was by far the best. I have been looking for the right Hair Salon eversince I moved here in LA, but unfortunately I've gone to mediocre salons and met hairstylists that would not even listen to what I want and would charge outrageous fees. And so I would still get my hair done in OC with my longterm hairstylist but since I have a baby now, I really have to find a local Salon specially with my crazy work schedule. Mario is seriously the best hairdresser I have ever visited. I came in with badly dyed hair, wanting to go ash blonde. Unlike every other hairdresser who refused to give me the service I wanted, Mario was all in. In order to achieve the look I wanted, Mario spent two sessions bleaching and toning my hair to get that perfect ashy blonde look while maintaining my hair's integrity. Much respect to this hardworking guy. First off, booking via phone was easy and then they send an email confirmation, which was good. I came in wanting to do a gray balayage but Mario was honest about the damage it will do to my hair and the maintenance it would entail. I appreciate that he looks out for his customers and not just after a quick buck. I ended up doing a more regular balayage and couldn't be happier with the results.
