My wife, myself and our 2 year old daughter just had a fantastic lunch in the main bar. the deserts in particular were fantastic. This is my second visit to Mar Hall, and I can say that it was equally as good as my first visit.||The staff are very attentive and keen to help, it’s nice to get a simple “Hello, Good Morning Sir” and such things, rather than no acknowledgement in a £50 a night chain, you know who I mean. ||The building is magnificent, old school British style. Lavish oak floors and hallways to walkthrough. You are greeted by a thick red carpet from the car park to the reception. Here you are greeted by very friendly staff and check in was simple and quick. I was in a standard room (you can see the images below), which was very spacious and had everything I could ask for. The bathroom was large, with a very powerful power shower in the bath and a fast flowing water for the bath (which was big and deep enough for my larger than life frame!||Bathroom came with super soft towels, ample spare toilet rolls and shampoo and cremes. Again, everything here is clean and bright, what else can you say.||We ate in the bar last night, which was a pleasant. Celebrated my mum's 90th birthday here. Staff were excellent from start to finish , private dining room excellent food and wine even had our own guy looking after us who was there the whole time we where in the private room . We booked the advertised Tasting Menu, for 3 couples, in Il Posto the Italian Bistro in the grounds of Mar Hall. It was a deal at £59/couple. Unfortunately one of our couple couldn't make it on the day so I phoned up in the afternoon of the booking let them know there would only be for of us. They said the didn't have our booking but I said I have your online receipt in front of me and booking number. They said that would be fine, just come along that wouldn't be a problem. Not knowing where about Il Posto was within the grounds we entered the main door and inquired at the reception. We were astounded to hear that Il Posto was closed that evening due to a heating and plumbing problem! They then said that if we had a booking we could dine in the main restaurant, which was fine by us. In the main restaurant they said we could order from the A' la Carte, or the Tasting Menu, once again fine. The Tasting Menu contained 6 items from the main menu not the Italian Bistro, which again was OK. When we started to talk to the staff it turned out that we were the only ones to have booked that evening for the Tasting Menu in the Bistro and we got the impression that they weren't going to open it for only 6(4) people. This again is understandable but why not just tell us instead of trying to fool us. Anyway after all that can I just say that the service was very good, attentive and knowledgeable. The 6 course menu was wonderful and excellent value for money. Every course was tasty and well presented. The dining room is spectacular, it's huge but at the same time warm and cozy. We were greeted on arrival with very relaxed and friendly staff. A room upgrade was offered and accepted with pleasure. Throughout our stay we were treated perfectly by staff who made us feel at home and very relaxed. The surroundings were impressive for a building of this age and history. Definitely a secret nougat. We had dinner both nights and were delighted with the excellent standard of food on offer. Our thanks and compliments to Chef and his/her staff.||The golf course is superb with marvellous views across Clyde to Bowling/Kilpatrick. From the minute we arrived I knew Mar Hall was going to deliver exactly what it promises. The beautiful facade, the entrance and the stunning original features make every room in the main hotel breathtaking. We were warmly welcomed and our bags taken to our room in the newer part of hotel.||The room was spacious and clean with a lovely view. The bed was super comfy and loved the range of coffees, tea and shortbread. Even had a turn down service and chocolates.||We are at the restaurant the first night and was bowled over by the beautiful surroundings. The food was delicious and the young waiting staff extremely well trained and attentive.||Breakfast was set out and had a full range of choices from cold to hot items. The only downside was poached eggs in water bath were hard but I’m sure had I asked I would have got fresh. ||Even check out was personal and polite. I adored this hotel and cannot wait to return. We had a wonderful three days there. Beautiful hotel, gorgeous four poster room - lovely to see such luxury fabrics complementing such a beautifully restored house. Food excellent morning and evening! Excellent spa experience and good golfing. But perhaps most importantly, the staff were all excellent. We were here for a wedding for 2 nights. It was absolutely fantastic. Everything was top quality. The room was spacious and we appreciated the turndown service every evening, when they set up the sofa bed for our son and left chocolates on the bed. All the staff we encountered were so friendly, especially a blonde waitress at breakfast (maybe Eastern European?) who always had a big smile and a tip about the delicious pancakes for our son. Also the bar staff were brilliant, in particular a very tall young guy who did the bar at the drinks reception on Saturday. He was full of fun! The food was absolutely delicious and very creative, especially the wedding meal, which could have been a bit hit and miss, but it was fantastic. Also the spa was lovely. We have now stayed several times and NEVER had less than perfect service. The staff are phenomenal, food was superb.||||Scott from F&B is undoubtedly the best front of house we've came across. Zack in his team is also a gem! Mathew also was so attentive and spoiled us.||||We stayed in Room 5, which, apart from a suite in Las Vegas is the best room we've experienced. We've just returned from a lovely, relaxing 2 night stay. |As soon as you drive into the grounds you know you're arriving somewhere special. |Check in is friendly and efficient and this friendliness continues throughout your stay. All staff are friendly, professional and service is faultless. |We stayed in a junior suite which is large, luxurious with a beautiful view. I dined in the stunning Cristal restaurant last night and what a treat! From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t have been any more accommodating! My friend and I were guided to the bar initially for drinks and then escorted through to the main restaurant for a stunning meal. The food is of such high quality and is the epitome of a fine dining experience for any “foodie” like myself. The surroundings of Mar Hall itself are absolutely beautiful and clearly, very well maintained.||||The range of cocktails on offer in the bar was pretty extensive and they had something for everyone in my opinion – my personal favourites were the French 75 and Passion Fruit Daiquiri however I will confess that I did have to sample quite a few during a very enjoyable evening as there so many interesting concoctions to choose from!||||The Maître-D, Scott was very attentive, and from the moment we arrived, the whole staff from reception and in the restaurant/bar and throughout the hotel honestly couldn’t have been friendlier and I felt they really went that extra mile to make us feel so welcome.||||Credit where it’s due - I was so impressed with the whole experience that I asked to speak to the general manager upon leaving, a lovely gentleman by the name of David Hamilton to congratulate him and his team on such a pleasant dining experience. Our Son married his lovely new Wife last weekend at Mar Hall where the whole event was spectacular. The staff were so helpful and friendly. From Friday through to Monday they could not have been more pleasant and in particular, one of the Managers, Scott, made our stay special. We have just spent the weekend here where our daughter was married. From our arrival to our departure it was simply fantastic. The place is immaculate, luxurious and has everything you could possibly need. ||||The staff are outstanding. Scott the bar manager is just brilliant. We were there for a hen do spa and DBB. The staff were excellent. The spa it'self has recently been done up - it's beautiful and the treatments were gorgeous. Luxury robes provided too! The bedrooms by the spa are also brilliant. Huge and comfy. In the main hotel the restaurant is v glam and service was impeccable. I would certainly recommend at stay here we recieved a beautiful upgrade attentive to all the spouls to make you feel special staff are just so accommodating its unreal. The only let down was the food. The evening meal was served 3x course starter goats cheese and beetroot with a rather strange green something dotted about? My other half had smoked salmon marinated in gin I believe, again it was bland rather a large portion thickly cut which again had this very strange Bright green something dotted about... We moved on to myself having the chicken & my other half the Squid & Pork belly to our surprise Both again had the Bright Green something with in it, warm and again no seasoning Puddings were amazing. Our waiter Matt did apply a credit for half a bottle of wine though which was very attentive of him. So Matt thank you. Breakfast was also just warm although we chose to order from Breakfast menu. But the choice was outstanding well presented But again just not hot and it had been standing a while. The grounds are amazing with a view from our window that made me feel very regal. Spa was relaxing and spotless great temperature amazing treatments on offer. All in all a fabulous experience would we go back most definitely we would probably do bed and breakfast & eat at the Italian Restaurant across from main entrance. Stayed on the 12th October, staff were excellent! Scott at front of house was an absolute star! Very attentive, directed his team efficiently and we wanted for nothing. Food was incredible and the peppercorn sauce was unique. Sancere wine is beautiful. I can't thank the team enough, we even chatted with the owner and his wife at the end of the night.
