Fantastic experience of the 8-week wine tasting course of lessons. Our sessions were held on a Thursday evening at the Jury's Inn Hotel and each week we tried 6 wines, with nibbles including cheeses, biscuits, grapes and meats to accompany as a snack. Each wine is between £5-25 and the majority around £10-15 so accessible prices. They have great flexibility when you can't make a particular session and both Jack and Phil who ran our classes were both non-pretentious, had great knowledge, and a real enthusiasm for what they were doing. They don't sell wines, which must be made clear. We've made some lovely friends and overall it was a brilliant experience. If I chose again, I would definitely say the 8-week course was a good length to go for because otherwise you're just scraping the surface with one session, which it is possible to take individually. Fantastic experience studying WSET Level 1 and Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits with Manchester Wine School. Both courses were extremely well run and very enjoyable. From the moment I booked, I felt fully supported throughout and the teaching was to a very high standard. Nothing was too much trouble for the tutors, who were on hand around class time too to help with my studies. I would highly recommend studying with Manchester Wine School to anyone looking to learn more about wine. More...

We had a wonderful time at the Inroduction to Wine day. Phil guided us through the day filled with information, time to look, smell and taste and to get real insight on the same grape produced on different continents. Lovely lunch in between. We will definitely come again More...

The Blind Wine Tasting Challenge was a very relaxed and enjoyable evening for the 40-50 who came The format was uncomplicated and Lisa's presentation, along with the clear and illuminating tasting notes made the tasting quiz great fun. The careful matching of the varied nibbles to wines was also instructive. It was a perfect social event, with the convivial chat continuing long after the end. We all loved it! More...

Last Saturday, my husband and I attended a wine tasting at the Holiday Inn Manchester. We had a great time! The group were really pleasant and a lot of fun! Nick was great , very knowledgeable and told us quite a bit we weren't already aware of and the venue was convenient for Piccadilly with a really nice lunch supplied too. The measures were very generous and the bottled water much appreciated. We are already planning our next tasting! More...

I had arranged this for my wife and I as a first day out after having our son. It was hosted at the National football museum. It was ideally located next to Manchester Victoria Train station (less than a 5 minute walk). We were greeted by Nick who was knowledgeable and informative but took the laid back approach to giving you a one day crash course in wine. The course itself started by being greeted by a glass of champagne. It had a mixture of whites, reds and one rose and was a whirl wind trip around the globe. It went into detail about each area wine comes from and what that area brings to the wine. The food included with the course was of a high standard, we went for the chicken main and cheese cake option. All served by friendly and professional staff who catered to our every need. Before this my wife and I were typical weekend wine drinkers who normally grab any bottle on a Friday night to help unwind. I feel now I that have more of an appreciation of wine and was a good starting point if you want to know the basics. Another good point of this was that all the wine picked had come a mixture of supermarkets and wine merchants. This meant there is no pushing of wine selling on the day. I will certainly be picking up a couple of bottles that I tasted this week on our weekly shop. More...

I bought my boyfriend and I tickets to an intro evening. I had no idea what to expect as I'd never been to a wine tasting before but I was really pleasantly surprised. Lisa is a fantastic host, she made it really informal and informative, and she made speaking in front of a group of strangers look easy! I think there were 8 wines to try and each was a good measure, I didn't drink all of mine and still felt tipsy! Thankfully the cheese and bread in the break filled me up! We'd definitely go again, it was good fun and great value for money. It was something different to do, in a nice venue too. Thanks to Lisa for looking after us. X More...
