If you are looking for relaxation or sports massage, Manchester Therapy Centre is the place to go. I am a regular there and all their therapists are friendly and have exceptional manual skills. I am a therapist myself, so I know exactly what I am looking for when I go for a massage and I can assure you that you won't regret the time you spend at the centre. Galina is one of my favourite therapists at the centre - highly skilled manual therapist that will find and work on all the knots without you even telling her where to apply pressure. She knows exactly what to do to help you with your aches and pains! On top of that she is lovely and a very good listener! On the other hand, if you are looking to learn how to perform massage - whether relaxation or sports - there's no better school! I did my course there a few years ago and the techniques learned have helped me immensely in my own practice. Keep on with the good work, Manchester Therapy Team! With best wishes, Jaz

I came to this place as my usual massage place was fully booked and it’s quite pricey in there so thought I’d go somewhere else for a change. After seeing mostly good reviews on this place and the reasonable price, I thought I would give this place a try. When I called to book the appointment, the man who answered the phone sounded weird and awkward. He asked straight away if I wanted a sports massage and I said no, I want an aromatherapy massage. He booked the appointment for me. Approximately one hour later, he called back asking if I wanted a general or relaxing aromatherapy. I said that I would like to have a relaxing one. He then talked about what oils they were going to use. I stopped him in his tracks to advise him there are certain oils that I can’t have due to having epilepsy (one of the oils he mentioned is bad for epileptics) and I had to advise him on what oils are good for relaxing and are suitable for people with my condition. Alarm bells should have been ringing at a deafening rate because 1. Why did you not ask me first time round what kind of aromatherapy I want rather than call me an hour later wasting everybody’s time (including yours) and 2. Why did I, the client, have to tell you what’s good and bad for those with medical conditions? Any reputable massage therapist would know or at least research this beforehand. He said fine and will note down my advice. I arrived for my appointment earlier than usual due to being a new client and having complex matters which required a more detailed consultation. When I arrived, a lady opened the door for me and the guy who I spoke to on my phone was sat down. Both of them were acting awkwardly and it made me feel uncomfortable as I was ushered upstairs to a small room to fill out the consultation form.

My appointment was 10 minutes late and my therapist Ana didn’t apologise for the delay and just ushered me into the therapy room. She looked at my form and said what I wrote on the form was “really interesting”. She never asked me what I want from the treatment, any parts that need work on or any parts to avoid. I had to tell her this. She also assumed what kind of pressure I like when I said I like medium pressure and told me to get undressed and she left the room while I got undressed. I also asked about the oils used to confirm what was in them but she was evasive. I proceeded with the treatment (I shouldn’t have but I did anyway, big mistake).

The treatment felt rushed, Ana was aggressive in her movements and nearly touched my private parts while massaging my legs. I asked her to reduce the level of pressure. First time, she apologised and reduced it but eventually went back to the original pressure which was sore and very uncomfortable. She then started moving my legs, hips and arms around the place which is what happens in a Swedish/sports massage and I wanted an aromatherapy massage which is supposed to be reasonably gentle and relaxing. I was far from relaxed and was desperate to get out of the place. When I turned to lie on my back, she pulled my hair and started giving me a head massage when I said I don’t want or have them. She did my neck but moved up into my head and started massaging my ears (another thing I told her about as I had surgery on them and there is still some sensitivity there but she clearly didn’t care). This was when I had enough so I asked her to stop and I would like to end this treatment because I was uncomfortable and very unhappy. She got up, stormed out and slammed the door behind her.

I was feeling dizzy while on the massage bed which worsened when I got up to get dressed and get my things. I never feel dizzy while having a massage which made me concerned because I thought I was going to have a seizure (I was experiencing symptoms I have before having one) and because Ana was evasive when I asked her about the oils used, I was concerned that they used oils I told them are bad for epileptics. When I went outside for fresh air, I unfortunately had a seizure and had to get a taxi home because I was very ill.

I have been here a few times now but unfortunately have ended up with someone called Jamelia and I'm sorry to say I'm sick of het talking through the whole hour of the massage. It completely ruins the experience unbelievable the woman doesn't stop talking. Not happy

Great friendly professional staff. Massages have been so helpful for relieving my tension headaches, which has made a huge positive impact on the whole of my day to day life. I couldn't recommend highly enough actually.

This establishment is amazing. The staff are wonderful and very professional. I have learnt a great deal from the tutors having studied here and learned how to massage. I owe all I know to the vast amount of knowledge gained from studying here. Plus visiting as a model for other students to practice their holistic therapy skills on is a great opportunity to meet a multitude of amazing people and to make new friends....I love visiting Manchester Therapy Centre.
