Brilliant service, felt really festive for the time of year. Lovely breakfast in the morning.|Bad points, needs better room service. Couldn’t have breakfast in bed. |There was a annoying rumble on the air conditioning through the night. We stayed here on a Friday in December, rooms were lovely and spacious, bathrooms dated. Comfy big beds, staff all very pleasant and our highlight was our late lunch. 2 of us ate from the set menu which was good value, excellent house wine and an outstanding cheese sommelier which we'd never seen before !Taser was a delight, really good cheese too. We booked into the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it.||Service was excellent and although there was a slight delay in obtaining the bill, as soon as I went to the reception area it was quickly provided (they were busy at this time). We had purchased the Wowcher for 2 people on a Sunday for £29.95. The offer consisted of soup, unlimited hits d’oeuvres and a main meal. If you love food, you won’t be disappointed!! We didn’t know what to expect but we were blown away ... we sat at our table at about 12.45 and left about 4.15pm ... very relaxing and was not rushed at all. Spacious room, comfy bed and duvet, lots of mirrors, attractive public areas, adequate gym, great location. Just a few tweaks: shower handheld fixed over bath not special, basin had no plug trap, room doors slam loudly, at breakfast not everything on the menu was available, £2 extra for hot breakfast! Stayed here for just one night. Hotel is a short walk from New Street station and other amenities for central Birmingham. Check was arranged before usual time of 3pm as I had business to deal with . Reception was helpful and all that one might expect. Had a good sized room which was well equipped with what you might need in a hotel of this quality (although no room safe provided). Good value. Tried to get supper when I returned but alas not available just after 10 in the bar - although room service was available. Not sure why staff can prepare a meal and take to the 6th floor yet not bring it to the bar (near the kitchen) no explanation from bar staff. So I went out to get something to eat. Came to stay here for a friends birthday, loved it. Parked in the car park underneath which was quite expensive but so easy and convenient. My room was stunning, a suite. The decor was really modern and just in general well thought out. The bed was super comfortable which meant I got the best nights sleep! The bar was really cool and the cocktails were great! I would highly recommend this hotel as somewhere to come and stay if you are in the area! I will be rushing back once back in the area :) More...

We booked the spa night in package which turned out to be a bloody fantastic deal! We had lunch in the restaurant as part of the package which was amazing, highly recommend the onion rings as a side dish! We then checked in which was quick, easy and to the point. Our room was lovely with a super cosy and comfortable bed. The package included truffles which was a nice little touch (these would have been much nicer if they were milk chocolate ;) ). Our spa treatments could be upgraded and was a lovely treat, so relaxing and peaceful the only downside was that we couldn’t be in the same room but we both enjoyed our treatments so wasn’t a deal breaker! The shower in the spa was awesome with all the different settings! The continental breakfast provided plenty of options for a buffet breakfast and then you could upgrade for just £2 to a whopping massive cooked breakfast and still have the continental as well, my food baby was rocking from this bargain! The whole stay was great from our arrival to our departure and all staff were lovely! The biggest issue I had was booking the stay and there definitely needs to be better communication with the hotel and the main reservations centre. I had booked my lunch originally and told it was no problem and all booked as part of the package, plans changed so I called to make changes again told no problem but when my plans changed back I asked if I could be annoying and rebook my lunch I was told I couldn’t because it was a Sunday lunch and not included in the deal when I explained that I had it booked before they said well we’ll need to check because we think the restaurant is fully booked now, I was called back by a man who explained my lunch booking was never cancelled so this was fine but I would have to pay a supplement charge due to the Sunday lunch being different to the normal menu in the deal, I agreed reluctantly because I know mistakes happen but I myself work in events and if someone has email confirmation of a booking with no restrictions or mention of supplement you should honour what you have agreed in writing. I booked my lunch for 12.15pm and when we arrived we were told the restaurant doesn’t even open til 12.30pm! Then we were given the special package menu and no Sunday lunch menu and when I questioned this the lady said she had not been informed like reservations said they would to honour the supplement and also the package menu is always available so we could have either and there should have never been an issue! The restaurant wasn’t even close to being fully booked and there was at least two other sets of dinners having the special package menu at the Sunday lunch time! Reservations made the whole booking stressful when it didn’t have to be at all, but my trip at Malmaisons definitely made up for it will just take what reservations says with a pinch of salt next time! Malmaison Birmingham - This was our second visit. The position is great. Parking in The Mailbox can be a bit ‘hit & miss’. ||We were a bit disappointed as the previously excellent service was not there. They appeared short staffed & lacked the attention to detail that we have come to expect with the brand. We had to ask 2-3 staff on several occasions for coffee & toast at breakfast The staff were concentrating so much on the ordering ‘iPads’ that it was difficult to attract their attention.||I think I’ll look for an alternative for my next stay in town. Booked twin room with spa, truffles in room, one night stay, 2 course meal and cocktail. I paid at the time £135. This was in November as I wanted to visit christmas market. Evey member of staff was friendly and went out of their way to help. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a gentleman who showed us to reception. Reception staff were very polite and very helpful. Went to the restaurant for dinner and were immediately served , staff were very couteous and knew great details about the menu. Fabulous service. Spa was fabulous , jacuzzi was great, steam room and sauna easy access. massage was fab and staff again were spot on. Cannot recommend this hotel enough .If in Birmingham this is the place to stay. To celebrate my 30th birthday me and a group of 14 friends attended the cocktail making masterclass at Malmaison Mailbox Birmingham. Our host Connor was BRILLIANT ... he had the patience of a saint and really went above and beyond and for the special occasion.||There was some confusion on the day with what the package actually included as when booking nibbles were promised but on the day we were informed that this was an error on the website.
