What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I feel connection and honesty are the key to a great photograph. We have the ability to get in our heads when in front of the camera and all of that nervous energy can come to the forefront. I think being direct, informative and laughing during a session can lead to more relaxed images, and give a better look into the subject's personality and a greater image than anything that can be staged.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the reaction you want to achieve from your audience? Regardless of whether it is photo or video what is the overall feel and emotion you wish to portray? Who is the end product for? What are some examples that you've encountered and enjoyed that you feel could work for your vision for this project? Last, what is the most exciting aspect of this project? Are there any elements that made you fall in love with the idea the first time?
What do you love most about your job?
The process is what I love most about the job. I take a lot of pride in problem solving and working towards a client's goal. I feel there's a personal pleasure I take in helping others bring an idea to fruition. That process inspires me, and keeps me in love with my work and doesn't make the experience sour.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Connecting with clients and creating lasting impressions under another company was rewarding, but it didn't feel like there was a responsibility to continue to provide across the board. Working for myself, I can always guarantee the dedication and attention a project deserves and I find that to be more comforting.
Why should our clients choose you?
I think I should be chosen because I'm dependable, upfront, honest and I keep the heart in mind. There are emotional connections to every medium, and I feel that is the heart of every project. Why not work with someone who keeps the purpose, the emotion and the end result in mind while working with the technical aspect?
