Therapist

I used Malcolm around 6 years ago and it somewhat completely put me off having therapy again until now.
It was my first time having a therapist, so it took a hell of a lot for me to open up and I felt as though it was simply going in one ear and out of the other as the next session he would ask questions that I had already answered (Ie. Do you live with your dad when I had spent 10 minutes explaining last time that my parents divorced when I was young and I see him once a year or so). I also mentioned that when I drink alcohol I find myself getting blind drunk and wondered if this was a numbing technique that I'd picked up over the years - to which he used against me down the line by saying 'you need X more sessions' and when I said I'm struggling to afford it, he would say 'if you're able to afford getting drunk all the time you can afford therapy' which was a real dig considering I wasn't getting 'drunk all the time' . And at that time of seeing him I was technically homeless and living on my sisters sofa.
6 years later I am open and willing to speak with a therapist again and I am praying I do not have the same experience I did with Malcolm as it has had a knock on effect for years.

Q&As

I gain satisfaction from supporting individuals with resolving a range of personal problems and issues, helping people grow in confidence, self-esteem and a sense of satisfaction with life along with increased resilience in the face of life challenges and changes.

I have gained a great deal of experience and training in working with individuals and supporting them to realise a better, more fulfilling life for themselves and those around them. I believed that I can provide the most effective support for individuals through the simplicity of direct and personal contact.

My considerable experience and training over a 36 year period in a wide range of 'people' services providing personalised services for individuals means I can respond effectively, sensitively and with empathy , providing the safety, confidence, warmth and sense of being listened to and heard that has become increasingly rare in a fast-moving and complex world.

Yes, I do offer both online video and telephone services. Video services are provided via a range of video providers: Zoom, Skype, VSee, WhatsApp.

Currently I provide all face to face psychotherapy and counselling services via video sessions. I plan to return to face to face(in the room) work in 2021, once vaccination and/or other interventions have been successful in reducing either the incidence or serious threat that COVID represents. Once this is the case, clients will be able to choose to continue via video or return to face to face (in the room) work.
