I discovered mal elfmans on fb. Thought I would give it try. Best service from start to finish. Paul was super helpful in the store. No high pressure sales. We established a meeting for a quote and next day they came out they came out in a snow storm! The installer was amazing! He thought the carpet would look better with a bordered edge. Left to get border added to carpet. Finished install and as it turns out that bordered edge made a nice difference. I will be using them again in the near future. The binding on an area rug that I purchased 6 months ago was separating from the carpet. I called Paul on Friday to see what he could do. The service was amazing. The carpet was picked up this morning at 8:30 and returned to me rebound by noon. The two fellows who brought it were courteous and had no problem removing all furniture and replacing to my satisfaction. I have been doing business with Elman's for over 15 years (both for myself and clients) and have always been extremely satisfied with the product and the service. More...

My husband and I recently purchased flooring and a wall-to-wall carpet from Mal Elfman's and really appreciate the great service they gave us. Their selection is excellent and we were very pleased with the salesman we worked with, Fred Richards. Agreed, not much to look out from the outside but a terrific place to do business. They did stair carpeting for us a few years back and everything was handled very professionally, Paul is a fountain of information and advice and gives it to you straight.  The result was PERFECT! Yesterday I walked in, saw Paul, and told him I was moving to VT and was just there to inform myself a bit more about carpeting. I said I didn't want to take up his time seeing as I wasn't intending to purchase from Elfman's. Well, he got me set up with ideas and knowledge as though I were his mom or best friend. He left me alone for awhile then came and spent nearly an hour with me educating me on the differences and how to pick the right carpet depending on the need. He even offered me his card saying that when I was looking at carpets in VT, if I had any unanswered questions to please reach out and he'd help. Well........wouldn't it be a much better world if all sales people reflected this level of attention and ethics? Go to Elfman's, you won't regret it. And if you are looking for a large rug they have hundreds of roll ends that they can cut and bind. So fun just to look! More...

If you need carpet or area rugs GO THERE!  They have a decent selection of bound remnants at excellent prices (great value on bound wool carpet) and if they don't have the size you want, they'll cut down a larger one and have it bound in a week (costs a little more, but you get the exact size you need). An old review said they didn't have much selection (wrong!).  Go downstairs!  Huge selection of carpeting and flooring.  If you can't find something you like then I don't know what to tell you.  Another review said not much to look at from the outside (agreed), but don't let that stop you from going in (and going downstairs!!)Based on my experience (two visits), I'll definitely be back and would definitely recommend. i've bought wool carpeting from elfman's in the past and they've always been great to deal with.  i especially like their remnants section, where you can get great deals - even on normally expensive wool carpeting! this time i got a large piece of wool sisal carpeting free on craigslist and elfman's agreed to install it for me, even though I didn't buy the carpet from them. i'm so glad they did.  the piece was incredibly heavy for me to move, but their guys handled it effortlessly. they did a very professional job of installation.  they were polite, respectful of my home, efficient and accommodating.  I'm happy to recommend them to anyone needing reasonably priced carpeting and professional service. Nor much to look at from the outside, and not a wide range of selection.But... this is THE place for high quality and CHEAP furniture, mattresses, and rugs.  I've purchased a dining room table and chairs set and some matress set here, and  I could not have been more pleased with the sales and delivery or the durability of the items.The big difference between here and the big stores is that they probably have less than 10 varieties of whatever item it is you want.   And you know what?  That actually makes it way easier to shop, particularly when all ten are well made and bargain priced. Mal Elfmans sits betwixt the bars and restaurants of Moody Street, and is a hidden little gem for rugs galore and select furniture. Awesome prices and a good carpet selection at a place that you would never think to even look (unless you live right there or are reading this review). My last trip there, I left with THREE 9x12 rugs and one matching runner (maybe 3x15 or so?) for 500 bucks. Delivered. Bam. More...
