Delicious, rich buttercream icing like it is supposed to be, like the old days. The cake smells right, like homemade. My husband loves chocolate cake with white icing since he was a child. For his 60-something birthday, we ordered the chocolate cream cake, which is chocolate cake with white icing. The staff couldn’t be more patient and professional taking the order, asking me what color for the greeting and more. The cake, designed to serve 8-10 or so, looked great and served at least 11 big slices. The good news is they also sell some cakes by the slice. I’m so happy that they have opened this new location! Not too happy with the other one. I’ve always enjoyed driving from NJ to the one that was once located at 116th and St. Nick. When they closed I was totally upset! Today went online and found their new location! Now I can tell my family they have a new location and it’s beautiful!!!! Here we come!!!!! Stopped by here finally after going back and forth about whether or not I needed this sugar. And I did. Walked in and was overwhelmed trying to decide what to get. I ended up getting their big cupcake, yes, I said BIG. It was their vanilla cupcake with lemon frosting. The lemon frosting wasn't tarte, it was sweet. The "cake" itself was moist and delectable. Not sure why this place gets bad ratings. My experience was very nice. Kind, approachable, funny staff. Got an off-the-shelf birthday cake and they added the customized decorations in 15 min. This is one of my favorite bakeries. Period. I've been a Make My Cake customer for more than ten years. I got hooked on the red velvet cake. Everything in the shop is delicious, but pretty decadent. When you bite into a slice of cake or cupcake you can taste the high quality and very rich ingredients. They sell two sizes of cupcakes, small and large. I always get a few large ones and eat them over a few days. Best flavors in my opinion are red velvet, lemon, vanilla, and vanilla with chocolate frosting. In addition to the cupcakes, you can purchase individual slices of cake in just about every flavor that they bake. The made to order cakes are really good too. They are very tall and there's always a lot left over after a party/event. You really can't go wrong with ordering anything there.
