This is the first time I have ever taken my pet here and it was amazing. They are incredibly thorough and everyone was so nice. They explain everything well and give you all the different options before they do anything. I recommend this vet to anyone and everyone. Thank you for the kindness and care we received there. The staff at MCVH has always been caring, competent, and very responsive to my concerns and questions regarding the health and end-of-life care for all my dogs. I was especially impressed when I brought my 15 year old Lab in for a checkup and a special space had been created for senior dogs that let them stay of the floor rather than be lifted onto a table. And Dr. Plourde and the staff were so kind to us when Claire died. I will definitely continue to use MCVH for the health care of my new puppy. More...

A special thank you to Maine Coast Veterinary Hospital, especially Dr Plohr and Mary. Dr Plohr, you "joined" our family many years ago and became our family's primary veterinarian. You have guided us through so many ups and down. We are so grateful for you in our lives. As we laid our beloved Sadie to rest yesterday your kindness and compassion are unmeasurable. Mary, I am so grateful for you being there yesterday. You have been my constant at the office for many years and what you do does not go unnoticed. Thank you all for all you do. More...

Love this place! They take me seriously when I come in with research on how I'd like the treatment of my cats to go (one came down with diabetes and they were completely on board with my treatment ideas and were helpful and knowledgeable). They get right down on the floor with my cats instead of forcing them to stand on the counter that they hate. And they're always amazing at helping me get the most care for my money. They're just wonderful! And always willing to answer my millions of random questions. 5 stars from me! More...

We have always used this vet clinic for all our pets. Harvey, our child (Golden Retriever) has Dr. James as his primary doc. She is so wonderful at giving us all the info we need to make the right health choices for our pooch. Today, Harvey was neutered by Dr. Plohr, because this time slot meshed well with my work schedule. The doctors are ALL great and knowledgeable! However, their staff are the best, and I’m all about giving credit where it’s due). Mary C is so friendly and helpful every time I call! She always greets with a smile and makes you feel welcome. Mary B is incredible! (I’m only partially influenced by her love of Golden’s). I felt sort of silly asking all the details of what to expect after Harvey’s surgery (it has been a while). She answered all my questions and even asked if I had more questions. We’ve also had Tracie, Laurie and Trish as vet techs. I’m sure I’ve missed a few! I’ve always felt that they all go the extra mile to make the pet (and the human) feel comfortable. Harvey also thinks they give him super tasty treats! And Danielle? She’s incredible and I can see how much she adores every pooch that walks through the door! More...

The staff here is super attentive, responsive, friendly, and professional. When our cat stopped eating, we brought him to see Dr. Karen James, who diagnosed the issue as a tartar build up, cleaned his teeth thoroughly, did a full blood work up, and patiently helped us to understand his numbers and how he was doing. Our cat recovered fully and is in top health again! Additionally, Dr. James was super responsive when we had a last minute emergency, and got back to us with what we needed in a few short hours. This place is clean, friendly, and awesome. Highly recommend! More...

I am Kita's Mommy and I want to Thank everyone at the Blue Hill Maine Coast Veterinary Hospital for saving Kita's life last August 2017. She was having heart trouble, and I would have lost her if it weren't for their dedication.I went there with Kita early in the morning. I walked up to Mary and told her Kita was very sick. She immediately asked me to wait a minute and she went directly into the back office to get help. Dr. phlour made time and saw Kita. He was able to diagnose her symptoms immediately and started meds. She needed to stay there to be attended through the day. They allowed me to stay with her to relieve the anxiety she had. They set us up comfortably in a private room, and Kita stayed in my lap all day. Dr Phlour and his assistants attended to her and watched for signs of relief due to the meds they gave her. Late afternoon she wasn't struggling so hard for breathing, so I was allowed to bring her home for the night and keep an eye on her. The 2 of us rested in the recliner off and on through the night. In the morning we went back to Maine Coast Vet and Dr Phlour was there to see her and find out how she did through the night. They ALL "REALLY DO CARE". Thank You Mary for your quick response to a distraught Mommy. ❤️Thank you Dr Phlour for saving my Kita. More...

We have taken our dogs there for many years. I have complete trust in their decisions regarding "Drzl's" (pronounced "Drizzle's") health care. The vets and technicians, actually the entire staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, hard working, and devoted to providing the very best in medical services for your pet. They honestly do provide superb care for all animals. I would not consider entrusting our beloved dog to any other veterinary hospital. I cannot praise them highly enough!!! Oh I would like to mention that 7 years ago when we suddenly lost our precious dog, Ridge, very late at night we were met at the MCVH by one of the vets, as it was obviously he was leaving us. The vet was going to put him down immediately so he would not suffer. We brought him home and buried this 102 lb. dog in our yard next the woods he loved so much. The next morning, with tear swollen eyes, I gathered up all of Ridge's canned food and took it to MCVH so they could give it to a kennel. When I walked in all the office staff was sitting at their desk or standing........all with tears streaming down their cheeks. None of them could even speak. Finally, one lovely lady came around to me, we had a big hug, and I told her the dog food was for the animal shelter. Then they all gave me a big hug. They had honestly loved Ridge too. The day after that I received a doggy sympathy card, and in one more day I received a very beautiful letter from one of the vets telling how terribly sorry he was to know that Ridge had "crossed the bridge." It is truly beautiful to rethink that time in my life.........that while going through the indescribable pain of losing a "family member" there were people at MCVH who were missing our boy too. I will never forget how loving and caring they were when Ridgie "went home." More...

My family and I take our two cats, Marky and Missy, to this vet for their yearly check-ups and for various situations as they arise. They've redone the building since last I visited, and the waiting room is now very open with a partially walled off section specifically for cats. While I was there, I saw signage saying that these vets are trained to be as calming an influence on your pets as possible, and it shows. Missy settled right down on the table and didn't protest at all when the Dr. looked her over. Marky set himself up in the corner, but he's always been a little more high-strung. Overall, I highly recommend this group of vets, as they're obviously very compassionate and dedicated to what they do. More...

We were on vacation and one of our dogs developed a problem that needed medical attention. Dr. Albrecht saw our dog the day we called to make an appointment. Our dog is normally kind of fierce (and quite large), but somehow she "read" him correctly and by the time she approached him he was wagging his tail. Turns out, our dog has a medical problem that will require surgery which we will have to do when we get back home in about a week. In the mean time, we're so grateful that Dr. Albrecht was so great handling our dog, diagnosing his problems (he was x-rayed and then sedated for a procedure), and that she spent a lot of time telling us what she discovered while providing us with a plan to manage his issues while we're up here in Maine. Everyone we spoke with in the practice (receptionist, technician and doctor), was super nice, sensitive, and thoughtful. We feel very lucky that we were able to find such great service so far from home and on such short notice. More...
