Maik’s Gym has been as transformative a fitness experience as I’ve ever had. My weekly sessions with my trainer Jay are anchoring my fitness journey and something I look forward to every week. The gym is run extremely professionally, boasting high end equipment that looks and feels like nothing you’ve ever seen or touched before. All trainers are pros and very personable - truly committed to helping you achieve your goals, they gently guide and push you at the right pace and with fantastic results. This is not a quick one-and-done transactional relationship that’s trying to sell you magic pills, but rather a level headed approach to fitness and nutrition that can better you for good. There is a sense that Maik’s crew has created a real community (or dare I say family) of like minded trainers with an amazing positive attitude. And a clientele that looks visibly content and motivated by this place which adds to the positive energy. JUST GO! The trainers, equipment and the gym were excellent. I've lifted for years, but I think this place is a "step above". The equipment is made by Watson based in Liverpool. It was the best I every trained with. The gym is on the 6th floor (57'th and Lex) with large glass windows around two of the main walls. Bright with great views. Was visiting NYC for 2 weeks, I found the place through Google maps. Immediately called and the owner gave me call back in one hour! I signed up for 8 visits. Trained with Maik (owner) first day; awesome introduction to the machines, new movements and the staff. Trained mainly with Shane. Super knowledgeable and great sense of humor. I really wanted to thank Shayne for teaching me many things I was missing about lifting in general (form, frequency, focus) but especially stressing the legs. When I started going about 2.5 years ago, I brought with me an assortment of good and bad habits, accurate and inaccurate information, and a very vague goal of just wanting to get in better shape. Right off the bat, Maik provides you with a wealth of good information about training, diet and nutrition, and habits and practices. After an assessment of where you are and where you want to go, he'll set you up with an appropriate workout program and a trainer who will help guide you on your way. Each trainer is highly knowledgeable, personable, and dedicated to helping you get moving towards your goals and making their gym the best, most supportive, and results-oriented place it can be. The gym has the best equipment, much of it made just for Maik's gym, plenty of space to work in, and a really fun, supportive, vibe. I have been super impressed by what Maik has built here! Amazing equipment, awesome people and an overall great vibe (bonus points for the Haribo). I have chronic medical issues so I was very nervous to try working out again but the trainers check in after workouts to see if I’m dealing with any injuries and I’m easily able to share my nutrition and weight metrics in their app. I have felt so welcomed and supported here and even find myself looking forward to training days! Hilly and the team here have truly transformed my fitness journey. Despite my history of injuries and weight gain, Hilly tailored workouts that helped me reach my peak fitness. Maik, who oversees operations and everyone’s training, provides no-nonsense guidance – his German precision in adjusting my macros was spot on. Maik is arguably the best personal trainer in NYC and the absolute best trainer I have ever had! He helped me with my postpartum transition back to my fittest self through weekly in-person training sessions that left me feeling like I had actually worked my muscles and not just moved weights around. As a renowned competitive bodybuilder and an Olympian, he knows exactly what it takes to achieve the results his clients desire. His training regimens as well as tailored diets come from a deep scientific understanding of nutrition and metabolism and are the opposite of the pseudoscientific garbage and fads that are floating around on social media. I met Maik after working out with another coach for 6 months+ and staying pretty much stagnant. Daily workouts, constantly chasing higher weights, but no progress. That was me when I met Maik through a recommendation from a close friend. I did an initial workout with Maik and told him about my issue of staying flat and not seeing any gains. Within just 30 days Maik has identified the nature of the issue in both my diet and types of exercise that I was doing and has developed a strategy, goals and objectives. Coach Greg is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to understanding the individual needs of his client and providing deep and wide expertise across programming, training modalities, and nutrition. This person has very little moral compass or character or professionalism. He broke my family of two young kids. Such vultures and low-life exist to prey on women who are struggling to find self-worth, body image and reach out seeking help. He talks about fitness and then lures them into inappropriate conversations at odd hours … Obviously it my wife’s fault first and for that I will end up divorcing her thus ruining the lives of my two young kids …. but as fitness trainer he is not a professional … I leave here with a word of caution for other folks and customers whose significant other / wife /partners might consider his service to be aware of his characters and the potential harm he can bring… Hope he rots in hell !!!! Maik, his team, and this gym, are one of New York's great treasures. Maik and his team are all incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to share what they know to help you be better. Maik's passion for sharing his fitness knowledge shines through in every interaction and that makes it a joy to come in for a workout. If you're getting a session from Maik, he's engaged and thoughtful in how he walks you through the movements. If you're working out on your own, he's still keeping a watchful eye across the gym and it's not uncommon for him to come over and make suggestions to improve your form or to help work around an injury you mentioned days ago. This goes for the rest of the team here as well - Shane, Jay, Greg, and the rest of the group are all top notch instructors in their own right, and they do a great job looking out for everyone in the gym. I've been training here with Maik and Alex for close to 3 months and I have only positive things to say. The Trainers & Their Approach: - Their emphasis on no-BS, scientifically backed, sustainable training practices and realistic goal-setting, all tailored around your specific abilities, experience, and schedule, is really refreshing - You can't go wrong with any of the trainers here - having trained with several, I can attest that they've all been highly knowledgeable and encouraging, and know how to push me safely - My work hours are fairly demanding and they've always been flexible regarding scheduling around that + tailoring workouts to take advantage of the limited time I have away from the desk. The Gym: - The gym itself is also phenomenal. It's packed with high-end, custom-made equipment that feels – and in many cases, is quite literally – brand new - The best part is that even at its busiest, the gym is never uncomfortably or unmanageably full; I've never had to wait for someone to wrap up with a machine so I can use it With just a few months of twice-weekly 1-hour sessions, I've made more progress toward my fitness goals with Maik and Alex's help than I ever had on my own or with a multitude of other trainers at other gyms.
