My new favorite go to for amazing food from breakfast to killer Sammie's. I'm obsessed with the Ty Cobb sandwich. They have many organic items, and the greens, tomatoes, etc. are fresh, ripe and what we grow in our own garden. This little gem is a must! San Rafael just upped its food game. Friendly service, great atmosphere and always some specials. Go on Friday Fry Day, the one and only day they do French fries. Love this! More...

This spot was picked for a late breakfast/early lunch before golf. Ordered a sandwich. It was good and their chips are delicious. Someone at the table ordered avocado toast... Fitting. After lunch we came back for a pint and was blown away with how much they charge. A “pint” of Racer 5, a local beer, mind you, is not an $8.09 experience. They also charge $7 for a bottle of Lagunitas Phase Change. Also local and not worth $7. I digress. They have a citrus water thing that was nice. Just not the experience we were expecting based on their website. More...

I tried the Heirloom beet salad and the Cubano sandwich. They were both excellent! We walked by this place (which in earlier years was the lighthouse, a danish restaurant) so often never had the urge to walk in. But I discovered it on yelp and was intrigued by the picture of great looking sandwiches. And they do deliver those! You pay and order at the entrance and they have table service from there. Everything is fresh and taste full - it's Marin prices so don't expect a bargain but as they have good ingredients and are just in the middle of the town it is reasonably priced. We will come back often when we are to lazy to drive to our regular spots in Novato (bacon), Berkely (Gilman grill) or we just had visit the miracle mile cafe in San Rafael. All these spots are among the best breakfast spots and of course I don't want to forget to mention the "le croissant " just in our neighborhood. We love to support the smaller spots since they are offering personality and great dishes. So please consider those spots for your lunch or breakfast! More...

Best salad spot in town. No doubt. I can't believe I let so much time go by before trying this place. This is a salad/sandwich lovers dream. Each gourmet salad has its own creative recipe and it was so hard to choose! You have the option to add avocado, bacon, chicken, steak, cheese, or tofu to any salad for a small fee. I throughly enjoyed the arugula salad with avocado added. My mom got the fattoush with bacon and it was equally as delicious. The portions are huge, ingredients are fresh, literally worth every penny! Great list of wine and good selection of beer, kombucha and drinks. I can't wait to eat here again! More...

How have I not been to this place yet?! Magnolia Park Kitchen is absolutely delicious! I was missing out on excellent sandwiches and salads all of this time until now. I am so happy I've tried this place and I'm excited to come back to try some other menu items. This place has both a large salad and sandwich menu with something for everyone. Seriously, everything sounded delicious on the menu. I ended up ordering the Roast Turkey sandwich which was wonderful. You could tell all of the ingredients were high quality and it tasted magical together. They had a sweet pepper jam on the sandwich and it left me wanting more. Also, all of their sandwiches come with a side of homemade potato chips. I got my sandwich to-go and ate all of the chips on my drive home since they were that good... Also, while I was waiting, I was watching all of the salads go by and wow, I'm not much of a salad person but they looked absolutely delicious as well and huge! The location is a bit tucked away but it is in the same complex as Coldstone and Arizmendi. They have a small outdoor patio if you want to bring your furry friend or they have plenty of seating indoors. Their decor inside is rustic modern and it is so cute! The only thing I wish was if this place was open for dinner since I'm not nearby during the day. However, whenever I'm around when it's open, I'll be back! More...

I'm sorry it took me so long to come in... A very fulfilling, wonderful salad. I had the Quinoa Salad, which wasn't a quinoa based salad but a greens and vegetable salad with quinoa, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The ginger-garlic(?) tahini dressing had good body so it kept its tahini flavor and stayed on the greens. Too often I've had thin tahini dressings which barely tasted like tahini. A little broccoli, apples, julienned carrots of various colors (my favorite way to have carrots and other hard veg) and half an avocado - I enjoyed every bite. Yes, a little bit pricier than some other places but totally worth the quality and avocado.Looking forward to trying your other offerings! More...

I'm shocked that I hadn't been here before, since I live really close by.  I only wandered in because people on NextDoor were raving about it. Whoever runs MPK clearly understands that making a stellar sandwich is no simple feat - the proverbial devil is in the details.  It's not just that the ingredients are fresh, but that there's a sense of....I guess you could call it 'cuisine': great seasoning, sauces, textures, proportions, the interplay between ingredients, the way meats aren't under- or over-cooked, and so on.  It's that elusive element in food that makes the whole greater than the sum of the parts (and altogether delicious).  Hitting that bullseye on a daily basis has got to be tricky.I asked for a few substitutions, hoping it would be ok (e.g., I'm a wimp when it comes to heat, preferred another cheese, etc), and the staff was kind & enthusiastic.  I know it can be a pain to change things around, so I really appreciated their flexibility.I wish I had photos, but I, uh, inhaled everything.  When a kitchen's approach is painstaking, something as seemingly mundane as a sandwich becomes a delightful, even transcendent, part of your day!  The highest compliment I can pay MPK is that their food didn't just nourish me; it brought me joy.  I felt like it was money very well spent and will be returning many a time.  My only (minor) quibble is that I wish they were open into the evening!  I suppose the morning & lunchtime crowds are their bread & butter, but it would be lovely to swing by after work for a dinnertime meal before heading home.  Whatever keeps them going is fine by me, though.I know I sound like I'm on their payroll, but really, this may be the finest sandwich establishment in all of Marin. I LOVE Magnolia Park Kitchen. My dad and his friend meet here every Friday for sandwiches and scones, and he brings home some to share! Even though I have the food mostly at home rather than in the restaurant, the sandwiches are awesome. We almost always get the chicken bomb and the tuna salad sandwich. I usually don't like tuna salad, but Magnolia Park's is delicious and the only tuna salad I will eat. The chicken bomb is just a blast of flavor, and the combination of the slaw and aioli sauce with the chicken is perfect. You can tell scones are made fresh, and they rotate through different flavors. My favorite flavors are the birthday cake and blueberry lemon flavors, but it's fun to go in and see what new kinds of scones I get to try! I know whatever one (or two) I get will be tasty. I've actually have only been inside the restaurant a few times, but it is a lot bigger than it looks! Plenty of seating indoors and out, and it has a cozy feel without being cramped. It feels like home, especially since the food is so good! Plus, the staff is very kind and serves you quickly.Magnolia Park Kitchen is one of my favorite places to stop when I'm in Downtown San Rafael, and I would recommend it again and again to all my friends. I very much appreciate the labeling of the salad menu for dietary restrictions, I just wish they would make it clear in the other dishes too. I had the fresh catch of the day sandwich on gluten free bread, which was delicious, although it would have been better if the gluten free option was a roll instead of slices, which tend to get soggy right away. The chips that come with it are also wonderful and I love the seasoning on them. Good, fast service and comfortable outdoor seating. More...

The slaw was spicy, but not too spicy.  I'm not a fan of really spicy food and I was a bit nervous that it would be, but it was the right spiciness for me. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. It's cute, free wifi, service was great and the menu is scrumptious; it was hard to choose. I went with the detox salad (I added grilled chicken) and it was large and in charge. It wasn't the cheapest salad (think $17ish with the added on chicken), but it was so good and healthy! They have a free coffee and a Yelp check-in, and what a great deal! Nice and strong coffee, too.As you can see, I sampled the scone as well. It was superb! So delicious, I ate only half since I'm trying not to indulge too much, but the bites were delicious. I thought I had already reviewed this place but apparently not here. I have been coming since this place opened. Love the Fried Chicken Bomb, and have brought several friends here for lunch also and they love it too. That being said, the music is WAY TOO LOUD. When I spend money to eat out , it's to enjoy being able to think, read, or socialize with friends I've treated to lunch. If the music is blaring right over the tables , it sends a strong message that you don't care about the comfort of your paying patrons nor do you care if they can engage in comfortable conversations. We should not have to talk over the music. The music level isn't about the staff...they can blast music on their own time. This isn't a bar, it's a small cafe.Being in customer service over 30 years and understanding that consumers are the backbone of any business, ive observed the counter staff should be a bit nicer also.Be humble , treat people like they matter because without us , you don't have a job.Act accordingly. The best sandwiches in Marin County can be found here. They use Acme Bread, which is my favorite, but they also use quality ingredients for the inside stuff on the sandwich. My favorite is the Ty Cobb, with turkey, bacon, blue cheese, avocado, etc. My co-workers all like the Chipotle Lime Chicken sandwich and the Club. It's a few bucks more than most deli sandwiches, but it's a few bucks less than sandwiches in a typical restaurant. The salads look huge and full of good stuff, but there's no way I'm missing out on the bread. I almost forgot the delicious freshly made chips that come with all sandwich orders. This is a great spot for lunch. They have a wide selection of salads and sandwiches with unique ingredients. They also give the option of adding avocado to anything (for $2) which is always appreciated. The only downside is that it is pretty expensive. For a salad (add avo), sandwich (add bacon), and a coffee it was over $30.I ordered the MPK Fattoush with the dressing on the side and I added avocado. First of all, their website prices are lower than what they offer in store. That was disappointing. But the salad was unique. The cucumber had a great crunch and I waffled with the idea of removing the pita chips but they were a great addition. They added a nice crunch without being giant lumps of bread like croutons. The only item I could have done without was the olives - they were too salty.Note: I was NOT offered fresh ground pepper when my salad was delivered, but the table next to mine was.My boyfriend ordered the Cheezy and added bacon. He seemed to really like that they added dijon to the grilled cheese sandwich. I tried their MPK seasoned chips and I thought they were alright. Not the best but not the worst chips I have had.Overall, I enjoyed the drama and whimsy of their salad selection and I will come back to try others. But I think this is not a cheap option by any means and will not become a regular location. More...

Daaaaamn!!! Now, THAT'S what you call a salad! Magnolia Park Kitchen just presented me with one of the BEST salads that I've had in a long while! If fresh had a visual definition, their salad would be it. I came here for lunch one day while working in the area and left out of there so satisfied! There was a line when I came in, but it moved pretty quickly. Their menu has a nice spread of both salads and sandwiches. Normally I'd choose a sandwich over a salad, but I was having a rare salad craving that day and decided to take a chance and try something new. Spotted the Yucatán salad on the menu and the description alone made me crave it. I ordered this and added avocado (because we all know how much I LOVE avocado!). The interior is cozy and trendy. They have a self service water station and their front patio is adorbs! I've always seen people sitting out on their patio when I've passed by. The manager personally delivered my salad to my table! He even came back to ask me how I was enjoying everything. How's that for personalized service? But back to that salad... HEAVENLY!!! It was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! Served in a huge bowl and tossed with lots of yummy black beans, cherry tomatoes, and corn. And that AVOCADO! They literally gave me a whole avocado and sliced it up perfectly. Avocado was so fresh that you would have thought that they had just picked it from a tree! The chipotle-lime dressing paired with this salad perfectly. I just realized that this salad was completely vegan. And guess what? It was friggin' phenomenal! This place is an excellent spot for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores alike! My one teeny weeny nitpick would of course have to be about the price. A salad can run you about $15 here. However, for the freshness and quality of their product, it's simply just worth it. Excellent salads and excellent service! I can't wait to try one of their sandwiches the next time I'm working nearby. More...

Big portions, fresh and tasty. Quick turnaround for lunch. Decor is right up my alley, industrial homey comfort a la Joanna Gaines (HGTV), hence the name I suppose. The menu items are straightforward Americana with a little ethnic influence. I was eye-balling what was essentially a fried chicken sandwich but went with a Cuban sandwich. My son went with a grilled chicken sandwich which featured a chipotle sauce and a roasted poblano pepper. In house made potato chips came as a side.  Next time I'll be giving their salads a try. One sandwich easily feeds two people unless your starving. In my perfect world I'd rather have about half the food for about 60% of the cost. Alas, businesses do what they need to do to stay afloat, so plan for the volume accordingly. More...
