Q&As

Photography is all about lighting and portraits are all about capturing the essence of a person's individuality through their expressions and body language. To make a perfect portrait, all these things are crucial. The other element of the perfect portrait is the background. A cluttered or otherwise distracting background will destroy an otherwise great portrait.

I try to get to know my client's. I talk to them about different things to get an understanding of who they are. I like to know little about them so I capture their personality in their portrait. At the same time, I discuss what they are looking for in terms of the theme of their portraits. It is important to know what my client is going to use the photos for, such as a headshot for their website or a large family portrait to hang in their living room, or maybe a couple of 8x10's of their child. I also want them to ask me any questions they might have.

I love when my clients look at the portraits I make and comment that this is the best photo they have ever seen of themselves or their family. That is what I strive for, and to consistently achieve that is what I am passionate about.

I came out of retirement in 2010 to start my business for a couple of reasons. I got the idea from my niece and and nephews. I took pictures at their weddings, and despite the fact they all had "professional photographers" shoot their weddings, they all said my pictures were better and that I should think about doing this as a pro. The families on both sides from my nieces wedding ordered over 300 prints from the photos I took. Other people, even total strangers that have seen my photography always gave me very high praise. Although I always enjoyed photography as a hobby, I decided it was time to get serious about it, so I purchased the equipment and built a nice little studio.

I take a lot of pride in my work. My photo sessions are not timed the way many of my competitors do. I try to shoot a number good poses with great facial expressions and perfect mood, etc. to make my clients look their best. To achieve this, I believe perfection is not something that can be rushed. I want my clients to enjoy the experience as well as the photo products I produce for them. My prices are reasonable and I never use high-pressure sales tactics. I try to treat my clients as I would want to be treated by those I do business with. Excellence in customer service and perfection in my craft is how I want my clients to think of how we do business.
