How long have you been interested in magic?
My first memories of Magic are a family friend performing magic tricks from a box. I must have only been around 4 years old, but since then I've been hooked on magic. I performed to friends and family for years and eventually started performing professionally when I was 18. I was working as a community youth worker where a young boy with special needs at the time. I showed him a few tricks and he started calling me Magic Dave... and the name stuck ever since!
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
Its really a hard question because every show is different. When I'm booked for a show I try and get as much information as possible to help make the show/event special. If I'm performing a magic show I tailor my show to the individual themes of events and to the clients. This has been from general 10-minute shows for introducing other acts to performing a secret agent spy magic show for a party. I love a challenge and will always try and make my shows perfect for the clients needs.
There are a few things that are always in my shows though. They are filled with fun, humour and interaction generate the most laughs and get the audience really involved. For childrens parties, the birthday child is always invited on stage to star in the show as well as lots of fun magic and puppets being in every kid show!
For close up work I will usually walk table to table (or group to group) and chat with the group, introduce myself, get to know the group and show them a few amazing magic tricks when they are comfortable. Usually this will involve a lot of laughs.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that no two days are the same. I can be stilt walking one day and the next day I can be doing a stage show in front of 100 people at a party.
I love that I make people react the way they do as well. Seeing peoples faces light up with amusement and confusion as I perform something they think is impossible is a brilliant feeling
What inspired you to start your own business?
This is always something I wanted to do as a full time job, and when I found I was getting booked enough I made the brave move to start my own job and work doing this full time!

My most popular online package is a magic workshop where i teach either you or your clients how to do a variety of fun magic tricks and even show them some extra special tricks just for them
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
During lockdown my work has remained online, but now that we have an exit plan I have developed a strategy to bring COVID friendly shows to your event. I have monitored every step we can take during the next few months and have ensured that my shows are COVID secure and socially distanced
