Had the most wonderful massage with Agata. She applied just the right amount of pressure and helped all my sore bits. She has a lovely manner. She really went the extra mile- fitting me in at short notice, advising me on additional things I can do for my health and even recommending a great cafe for me as I was just visiting Edinburgh (unfortunately- if I lived nearby I would be in all the time!) I went here today for a massage to try and relieve some of the tension in my back. Instead I got a kinetic chain release and a massage. I feel so much better I can't even explain. The therapist Agata was so knowledgeable. She helped me stretch and work out a lot of the tension I was carrying and was extremely patient with my movements and questions. She also gave me some excellent recommendations for exercises to do at home. Homework was an Epsom salt bath and I'm now tucked up in bed feeling better than I have in weeks. I work as a hairdresser and often neglect my body, taking care of other people means often not taking care of yourself. One of my colleagues recommended Agata at the Healthy Life Centre and now I can't imagine not taking this hour every 6 weeks to centre myself. Agata is very experienced and has lots of knowledge and advice. She uses a variety of techniques to stretch and loosen the tension that builds up in my back and shoulders. She also gave me some exercises to do at home and advised me of some additional vitamins to take over the winter months. Crashed my cycle over 2 months ago have tried various treatments for my severely tight and stressed legs also lower back with little change. I popped into the centre to pick up my girlfriend last week and just wanted to note what a peaceful, calming atmosphere I was met with. Although I haven’t experienced any of the therapies or classes which they offer, I can say that from my brief experience healthy life centre seems like a tranquil haven in amongst the busy rush of city life. Wonderful therapists and teachers, knowledgeable and skilled. My go-to place when I need to take care of me. I no longer see this as an indulgence but part of my self care to keep me balanced and well.
I have had several treatments including Shiatsu, Massage, Acupuncture and Reflexology and all were very good. I attended Andrea's Yoga workshop last Sunday and took away a lot of useful information and tools. Highly recommended. More...

I've never been one for being organised in my personal life. Making appointments or reservations? Never! I like to be spontaneous. Yesterday's inspiration was reiki, something I've been wanting to try for a long time. A friend of mine had her life turned around be reiki, and it's been a source of curiosity for me ever since. I was determined that yesterday would be the day I would find out if it was really all that life changing, but finding reiki somewhere at short notice proved to be almost impossible - until I found The Healthy Life Centre. The Healthy Life Centre is like being in my mum's house, but with more healing music and quieter people - it's definitely not an upmarket salon type experience. However, it is cosy, warm and soothing, which are all the ingredients you need for a massage/reiki/healing experience. My reiki (master?), Sam, was lovely, and set me, the newbie up very comfortably. I had to admit, I don't know if I like reiki after yesterday or find it lifechanging, but it did produce some interesting results - some of the questions asked at the end, and locations of problematic energy pointed to things that I didn't discuss, so I'm always a little impressed at that - and gives me a little reason to believe magic still exists in the world. Today I was treated to a shiatsu massage at The Healthy life centre, I was a little nervous because it was kind of out of my comfort zone and not somewhere I would normally go but I was made to feel welcomed and comfortable as soon as I walked through the door!
