Our table service far exceeded the expectations and standards of most of the dining establishments in Los Angeles. The ambiance was truly wonderful from the location, structure, interior, music, and decor. I am trying to remember our server's name and I think it was Felix or possible Fernand (my apologies for not remembering) was outstanding and elevated the rating.Food was good, pastries were tremendous, teas beautifully presented, the roasted beet salad was lovely, the chef, Michelle, was incredibly accommodating and pivoted on the menu items without hesitation. We had a chance to just sit and take in the ambiance and it was as if we had traveled elsewhere. We would all highly recommend this charming French Bistro tucked in the city of Pasadena. More...

This is a tea room and restaurant in one of Pasadena's most iconic and historic buildings. The place has two rooms with fireplaces, one of them small and intimate, the other a large room with a Grand stone mantled fireplace. Another small room is tucked near the kitchen. It also has a lovely patio that additionally serves as a beautiful beer garden on certain nights. Depending on the time of day, one can get brunch or dinner, and in the afternoons a wonderful high tea. (Try the Rose Tea if you're in town for the Rose Parade!) The quiet, beautiful setting of Madeline Garden Bistro is the perfect antidote for holiday exhaustion, or for frayed nerves any time of year. They also offer paid tours of this historic building. One of the loveliest afternoons we've had in a long time when we had high tea here on 30 Dec 2018. As we live in the area, we will return again and again. We can't wait to take our little ballerina here for tea. Highly recommended for the ambiance and good food too!Addendum: At the end of March 2019 we brought our soon-to-be 8-yr-old here for high tea. It was so lovely. She just loved it. She wants to have her next birthday at Madeline's. We will be happy to fulfill her wish. I want my next birthday party here too! More...

I was here during the Christmas holidays with a friend and last Thursday I took my 7-yr-old for Hight Tea. Both times the experience was so lovely. This is a family owned restaurant that serves a traditional high teas with clotted cream, small scones, and small portion savories and desserts. It was so peaceful, and the owner, Ginny, went out of her way both times to deliver excellent service to us. It is located in a historically important old bldg in Pasadena, and the rooms are lovely. I will return here again and again for special high teas. They also have a beer garden in their beautiful patio, and serve lunch and dinners in addition to the high teas. More...

This truly is a hidden gem! They may be known for their High Tea but we went for dinner and had a scrumptious meal, in a beautiful decor, with wonderfully attentive service. I had the Lobster Risotto which was delicious and buttery. Husband had the Scallop which were also delicious. We ate early and there was hardly anyone there! Considering how good the food was and how excellent the service, we were very surprised by how empty it was. The kitchen was a little slow but we were well-rewarded with a fine meal. Apparently they offer High Tea in the evenings too and we will definitely return. More...
