I stayed here earlier on this week (via Booking.com) - booking three days before.||||I paid, or rather my company paid around £70 for the one night for bed & breakfast. ||||I arrived & checked in a little after 5pm, and was pointed in the direction to my room. The Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel gives the impression of previously being a manor house. You walk in to the reception with a towering Christmas tree next to a roaring wood/coal fire, and a grand staircase - to paint a picture!||||My room was fine, clean, tidy, and inclusive of some Elemis freebies in the bathroom. I had a double room with a spacious bathroom, working desk, TV, and [for once] sufficient lighting - this is often one of the things that most hotels don't have that I've noticed - considering I stay in around three or four different hotels a month!||||There is also a gym, pool, spa & Jacuzzi on site/adjacent which all guests can use inclusive of their stay. I used the gym after checking in, followed by the pool & steam room (the sauna wasn't working). Back to the gym though, I've used a few gyms in hotels before, and this one was up there for equipment variety, amount of equipment, and space - not all just crammed in and old stuff, everything seemed looked after & well maintained.||||The changing rooms have seen better days with regards to the lockers, a fair few of them are broken & a couple are damaged and missing their doors - however they take a £1 coin or a trolley token! Other than that, top marks for the gym/fitness side of things.||||That evening, I ate in the hotel restaurant - I couldn't be bothered to check where to eat locally. I'd had a long day, but I was happy with my decision. After being seated, ordering a drink, and being given a menu, I went for the Olives & Feta Cheese with Sun Dried Tomatoes as a starter, and the Pan Fried Fillet of Sea Bass (also ordering a side of Seasonal Vegetables).||||My starter arrived in around 10 minutes – was spot on, good pitted olives, nice olive oil, not too salty feta – tasty sun blushed tomatoes.||||The sea bass came a little over ten minutes later, along with the seasonal vegetables. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, the curried peas & risotto + poached egg – also a 10/10. I think the side of seasonal vegetables was steamed & seasoned with a little garlic – also full marks!||||I skipped dessert, was full from everything I’d eaten – but the options also looked good!||||The bill came to £27.50, including two soft drinks – happy with that considering the quality!||||The following morning, cracked on the kettle & shortly after walked over to the gym/pool/sauna *repeat of yesterday*. Just before checking out I grabbed some breakfast – one of the best continental breakfasts I’ve seen in a long time, there was that much to choose from, I didn’t bother ordering a Full English or one of the many other variants from the menu. You name it, they probably have it!||||I’d stay again if I was in the area – definitely.||||Hotel – 5/5||Restaurant – 5/5||Gym/Spa – 4/5 (sauna not working/some lockers broken)||Staff – 5/5||Value for money – 5/5 More...

From the minute you walk in to the minute you leave this hotel knows how to treat it's guests. The hotel is in a beautiful setting - lovely comfortable room, lovely restaurant and absolutely first class staff - sure they must hand pick their staff as they are so lovely friendly and chatty. Breakfast was great and to have this in such a beautiful restaurant only added to the enjoyment. Continental breakfast was beautifully presented. Dinner was outstanding -and the staff double checked food on the menu to make sure it was safe for my partner who is celiac. The dinner menu catered for all tastes and were obliging if you had a special request - which I did. The Head Chef at this hotel has to be highly commended for his food (personally recommend his chargrilled chicken was to die for beautifully cooked and so tasteful and tender) This hotel are truly blessed to have such a talented Head Chef working for them as his food is outstanding and a credit to the Hotel. There was not one member of staff in this hotel that did not go the extra mile to make you feel welcome - special mention to the restaurant girls - they were brilliant - but then so were all the staff. An absolutely fabulous two night stay - would I recommend - you bet 150% - would I stay again - without a doubt - one of the nicest stays in a hotel I have had. More...

Words can’t express how much both my husband and I loved our magical perfect wedding day. (Even the Sun came out). However we are going to try. .....||From meeting Laura and Wendy last March, the wedding team. We found them both helpfully, approachable and knowledgeable going out of their way over the 18 months of planning to make our day perfect for us. Also answering our 5 million questions.||Prior to our day we met with Michael and Wendy to discuss timings etc, Easing our last minute nerves. We had both planned a surprise for each other on the day which both Michael and Wendy managed to keep our respected surprises just that a surprise!!!!!||The day was PERFECT!!!!!!! Michael and and all the staff at the hotel were fantastic. We had two elderly disabled relatives coming to the wedding. The staff were excellent looking after them going above and beyond to the point of the staff the following morning bringing them over for breakfast and packing their room for them.|There is not one staff member we can say anything negative about. They were all excellent and professional.||Food wow!!!! We have had nothing but compliments about the food! No one went hungry!! Please pass are compliments onto the chef and their entire team and hope they liked the cake . We know there was a lot of work and people behind the scenes.|Even the ‘picky’ guests had a clean plate. ||Bar again excellent!! Prices were on the high side for spirts and mixers but pints were pretty respectable. Although we did feel sorry for the gentleman at the residents bar who we kept busy until the early hours as the celebrations continued. We didn’t want the day to end and neither did our guests who rolled in there beds gone 3am.||Breakfast excellent again!!!! Everyone loved the buffet style breakfast. Again the staff went above and beyond looking after relatives who were traveling home to America and even took care of a late guest the morning of the wedding who couldn’t manage the 3:40am finish in the bar the day before the wedding and turned up late for breakfast.||Overall we would both fully recommend Kilhey Court. We are both big believers in treating people how you would like to be treated. As such every member of staff involved in our day we wanted them to feel as much a part of the day as are guests. We have had nothing but praise from all our guests about the venue and staffs professionalism. I was literally in tears saying Thank you to staff as we left.||The layout of our whole day worked. We had the Tennyson suite venue and with people who struggled to walk distances were able to managed the room transitions. We didn’t realise at the time but the larger venue (New build) just wouldn’t have worked for us with our numbers (70 - 90) and people walking issues||On a side note Micheal obviously having an abundance of experience had his little quirks. Giving the children their meals a couple of minutes before the adults work very well as the children were all seated prior to the guests food being served. With it being our wedding he also tried to ensure that we were the first to try the canopies and the evening bacon butties. Little things like this but in our case wasn’t needed but some couples I think would have appreciated it. We were on to much of a high with the actual guests and venue that we went without. From the grooms perspective a lot of little additions arose on the day that the staff catered for which wasn’t previously planned for. For example coffee for the bridesmaids whilst getting make up done and tea for our elderly guests as they waited for their early check|In. ‘Thankyou Kilhey Court for all your efforts, you made the day perfect for us. I am an events and weddings planner based in Standish quite close to Macdonald Kilhey Court Hotel and have planned and managed several events there for a few years. The co-ordinator Wendy O'Farrell has always been very helpful for each and every event on which I have had the pleasure of working with her, and ensures that all our requirements are met to the highest standards. Nothing is too much and Wendy goes out of the way to make sure that the clients are happy.||||We booked an event in early September, it was the reunion of the medical college alumni from the 1967 batch from Mysuru in India. All the delegates who travelled from all over the world for this were thoroughly impressed with the hotel location and its pristine beauty and the spaces it offered for the friends to congregate and re-live their college days. Wendy ensured that everything went as per our requirements from the smooth advance group check-in to the gala event on the final day.||||Afternoon tea at the Laureate Restaurant was simply delightful but I will review it separately.||||All the delegates are still waxing eloquent about it having been the best reunion ever and can't stop talking about it. ||||I would give more stars to this hotel if Trip Advisor would let me!!
