Nice hotel. Stayed many times. Always appears quiet and off season. Maybe I'm lucky. I think the most confusing thing is there's about 4-5 residences ran by MacDonald's in aviemore and think they need much more distinct names, Alpha, Delta etc. Or even pair the resistances with the food on site, so burger, pizza, restaurant, steakhouse etc. More...

In general hotel is well equipped. Decor is getting a bit dated and service seems slow. Breakfast time is a challenge and more could be done to improve layout.

2 grandsons aged 9 and 6 had wonderful time on inflatables /soft play and in the pool. Because they were so happy with that we grandparents were able to relax read and just think about where we would go to eat. Breakfast buffet delicious Carvery and Italian were fine though all would have benefited from warm plates.Lunch suffered from poor service in Laggan Bar though food was good .Chicken fillet take away seemed out of place. Expedia DBB offer has a bug - the hotel is not properly informed of the rate and it is hassle when you arrive to explain that you have paid in full. The hotel is packed with activities for kids but a bit tired - management need to do a walk through so they can truly experience from a customers point of view and put things right (e.g badly lit stair well, breakfast room, porridge very salty, lack of healthy kids meal options...) The location of this hotel is excellent for Aviemore and local attractions. Helpful to have onsite restaurants and activity centre. That’s why we chose the hotel. For the price I think the buildings are run down and the rooms are fine but nothing exceptional. The pool is quite cool and the jacuzzi wasn’t working. The kid’s room was fab. There are plenty of activities to do in or around the hotel for young kids and adults too. The on-site restaurants (we tried Aspects and the Italian) were really tasty and reasonable, although drinks were a little expensive (hotel prices). This would of been 5 stars had the family room we were given been clean. We were moved rooms but it disrupted the kids initially after a long drive. Great facilities for children. Our son was unwell overnight and the staff went above and beyond, waiting with us for an ambulance, leaving us chocolates and checking in with us later on. We would definitely return.

The staff were great, the breakfast was particularly good and the evening meal was very nice. We liked the option of using the half board package at the Steak House at the other McDonald resort in Aviemore Rooms were cleaned everyday Didnt get to use other facillities as we were out a lot. The shops were expensive.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. Nice toiletries. The hotel is dated. The hallway of the hotel smelled damp. There was also damp mold on bathroom as it wasn’t ventilated.

Room was clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom would benefit from having some hooks on wall/ door. When arrived, no-one was at reception and no phone was available to call for a member of staff. Not great first impression!
