This bakery does Eastern Europe baked goods. I have gotten breads, cookies and a German cake from them. It's a simple no thrills place but if you want a delicious homemade mom n' pop bakery cake this should be your place to go! I do suggest you call in advanced to order 2 or 3 days before. They also serve fresh coffee and simple breakfast pastries! If you go inside there is limited seating but it's usually quiet and you need to enter from the back where you can also park. We receive our challah from Lucy's and they are truly the best around. They are SO good that I entrusted them with providing pastry trays for my wedding. As soon as my now husband and I got engaged, I knew Lucy's Sweet Surrender would make our cake. My family has known Michael for many years, as he used to deliver pastry trays to my freshman dorm (and even gave me rides a few times! ). Michael's baking skills are unmatched, and his preservation of old-world techniques and flavors is sorely needed in this day and age. We asked Michael for a traditional Hungarian dessert, a Dobos Torte, made in the style of a wedding cake, and boy did he deliver! We asked for a simple design with contrasting layers, and he gave us exactly what we were hoping for. The cake was not only beautiful but delicious, and we've gotten so many compliments! The cake was a beautiful representation of my family's heritage with a clean, modern design.

Michael is an old-school Hungarian; he doesn't sugar-coat the truth, but he's still one of the sweetest people I know. He cared about giving us exactly what we wanted and even checked in with me the day before the wedding to confirm that everything was still as we requested. Lucy's Sweet Surrender is a Cleveland institution for good reason, and I can't wait to order a cake for our 1-year anniversary. My family and I stopped at Lucy's with my uncle who lives out of town now and was craving some genuine Hungarian nut roll from his old neighborhood. I think we bought out the store! Apricot cheese strudel was eaten almost immediately. So delicious!! They gave us instructions on how to gently tuck the nut and poppy seed rolls into the freezer for Christmas and New Years. We've been going to Lucy's for many years. Way back when they were on Buckeye Rd. There is nothing that even comes close. Lucy's is nothing short of Amazing !! Old European Style Bakery at its Finest. The Bacon biscuits are to DIE FOR. My God are they good. The BEST we've ever had. The chocolate Tort cake is out of this world..... Did I say I LOVE this Place If your looking for Hungarian Bakery anywhere around here, you have to come here. Visiting from out of town. Found this sweet little bakery while walking. The place has a really nice old school feel. Tried the peach apricot strudel and all I can say is no strudel will ever be good enough for me again. 12 on 10 will visit again for the strudels and maybe try the heavenly looking donuts next time. My wife ordered a Dobos torte, a chocolate hazelnut cake and krumpli from Lucy's for her birthday.  They sent them second-day air UPS from Cleveland since we live in California.  The cakes arrived on time and in perfect shape.  We had the Dobos torte for the birthday dinner we had with friends and family and everyone thought it was delicious and beautiful.  My wife said the lady who answered the phone at the store and the guy, Mike, that she mostly dealt with were extremely nice and very accommodating.  We couldn't be happier.
