Firstly, I'd like to point out how incredibly friendly and accommodating the staff were. Everyone I came across at the spa couldn't do enough to ensure I had a relaxing day. My massage therapist especially made me feel comfortable and relaxed and gave me an amazing back massage and facial. The facilities at Lucknam Park Spa were decent. There was a large pool with a fireplace running alongside (very luxurious!), Indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools, 3 steam rooms, 2 saunas and 1 amethyst room. There wasn't a shortage of places to sit either, lots of lounge chairs poolside. The sliding door button to get through to the outside hydrotherapy pool was broken, it would've been nice for staff to let guests know and perhaps put a sign up informing them they'd have to manually slide the door.My treatments were my favourite part of my spa day. My massage therapist made sure pressure was okay for me and checked everything was fine during my treatments.Lunch was FANTASTIC. I opted for a vegetarian main and dessert and was not disappointed in any way. The staff were friendly and professional. I did feel strange being in my robe whilst there were people dining in clothes. Perhaps there could be a section in the restaurant exclusively for spa guests.Overall, I had a wonderful day at Lucknam Park Spa. I would highly recommend the restaurant and treatments but the facilities were on par with many other spas that are much cheaper. More...

This is the second time we have stayed at Lucknam Park and it is one of the most wonderful places to stay! My daughters and I were staying in Bath and decided to visit Lucknam for tea. It was a very traditional looking country house hotel, no “Shoreditch” vibes here! But this was fine by me. The tea was superb, savoury sandwich’s, scones, very tasty cakes and good cup of tea (hot water provided to top up your pot), I couldn’t fault it.||Although we had to book a time slot of 2.30pm, nobody hurried us and we didn’t leave till after 4pm. The staff were excellent - both friendly and professional - one was kind enough to take a photo of us all by the Christmas tree as we left.||A highly pleasant hotel with a gorgeous afternoon tea. This is such a lovely place to pamper yourself; grounds are beautiful, staff attentive and rooms lovely. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt very well looked after, nothing was too much bother. ||||Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, from lovely robes and slippers to umbrellas and wellies.||||The spa is very luxurious, with fire framing the actual pool and the opportunity to swim outside in the heated pool to look at the stars whilst you enjoy the hydrotherapy.||||Both restaurants are lovely but the Restaurant Hywel Jones was out of this world, the food and service are unmatched in our experience.||||Definitely our first choice for future treats. We loved Lucknam Park. We began our stay with a long walk. The grounds and surrounding countryside are beautiful. Then we enjoyed the spa. My favorite was the Japanese salt room. But also the hot pool, where you can swim outside even in the cold weather. It was a mother daughter adventure and it was just perfect. More...

We loved Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa. The staff and service are excellent. The spa is the nicest that we’ve ever seen. We both had massages and again top notch. We ate at both restaurants, Brasserie Is very good and the Michelin Restaurant is exceptional. We had the tasting menu and highly recommend. The afternoon tea is also delicious. ||The property is gorgeous. We will definitely return!!! More...

This was our first visit to Lucknam Park and we were really impressed all round. The room was fantastic and along with the rest of the beautiful grounds, the hotel had a peaceful and relaxing feel. All the staff we met were friendly and attentive. The spa was beautifully warm and relaxing with a fantastic outside pool where we gazed at the night's sky after both having massages. Dinner in the brasserie was great too. Overall, a delightful stay - very much looking forward to returning in the near future. More...

We have just returned from a long weekend at Lucknam Park. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and we would happily return again in the future. ||||For us, the highlights were: (a) Restaurant Hywel Jones - we went with low expectations but the quality of food was exceptional, the staff lovely, and the ambience great (on a Friday night at least), (b) the horse riding - the grounds are beautiful and we were well instructed/accompanied on our ride, (c) the staff - in particular, the lovely service in the drawing room for drinks, the pre-dinner sommelier, and nearly all of the waiters/waitresses in Restaurant Hywel Jones, and (d) our complementary upgrade to a larger room that the one we originally booked - this was a lovely touch and particularly welcome as we were celebrating a special occasion. We also enjoyed the spa, our massages and the free bikes.||||The only negatives for us were: (a) The Brasserie - we did not expect a lot for a hotel's second restaurant but both the food and ambience were distinctly average (for example, our fish was badly overcooked and the sticky toffee pudding had a horrible burnt flavour) and (b) we made one request for an iron and it did not arrive until a long time after the request (by which stage it was too late) - a small inconvenience but something that you would expect a 5 star hotel to deliver with ease. Particularly when we were fairly undemanding guests in all other respects. ||||All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would recommend Lucknam Park to family and friends. Frankly, no one goes to the hotel to visit The Brasserie so this was not a major issue. The only reason this is not five stars is that you expect near perfection at a 5 star hotel, particularly for the price paid - our long weekend cost nearly £2,000 in total. However, it was a great weekend all in all and we would like to extend our thanks to all of the staff at Lucknam. More...

We have just returned from a 4 days in this luxurious place. The hotel is grandiose, the staff is awesome, the 2 restaurants are very very good, special thoughts for the Hywel Jones (you must go) but the brasserie is also a good place. The SPA is just amazing! Just dreaming to come back. We were the 2 french ones in the Colombine room. We really really REALLY enjoyed our stay. We will definitely come back. The staff is very kind and friendly, very classy also, the room was above expectations ( we did book another smaller room and have kindly been upgraded which made our stay even better! many thanks for this!!!), and very silent (absolutely what we were looking for). The Spa is the place to be, to relax and have a quiet moment in hot water inside/out, and the treatment, massage, was so relaxing! ||Above all, we would like to thanks especially Sakis, for his big sens of humour and his marvelous smile, Carla, for her very kindness and delicate attention about the missed "café gourmand" pastries delivered to the brasserie next evening for us!! ;-) , Capucine at the reception for all her good tips, Rogan, the good memory waiter at the restaurant, and all the others, all those for whom we do not have the names: you are all perfect! please keep this place as it is: a so british jewel!!!!a big thank you!can't wait to be back! If you want your own 'Downton Abbey' for a few days, this is not a bad option. Maybe not quite so grand, but everything else is on offer. Excellent fine dining restaurant, afternoon tea was faultless, service impeccable and rooms that are large enough to enjoy. Then come all the activities, especially all those to keep the little ones entertained while the adults laze around with a glass of something and the papers. Highly recommended. Oh, special mention to the Spa, as good as it gets. More...

Lucknam Park is one of the best UK hotels I have had the pleasure to stay in. It is quintessentially English; a step back to old fashioned service and values. Reached by a long tree line drive, you pull up by the front door to be greeted and welcomed into Reception, before being shown to your room. ||The bedroom is beautifully decorated with antique furniture and spectacular countryside views. Good size and well equipped bathroom, again with country views. ||Took an enjoyable afternoon champagne tea in the Library, absolute indulgence before heading to the well-appointed Spa to work up an appetite for dinner that was taken in the Brassier - exceptional quality and service to compliment the good food. Extensive wine list offering a good choice for all tastes. ||Breakfast the following morning was amazing, taken in the beautiful Hywel Jones Restaurant. The quality was exceptional, choice extensive and service very attentive. ||Staff throughout the hotel were friendly, very accommodating and nothing too much trouble. ||The grounds are extensive and include an equestrian centre. Location of the hotel is perfect - far enough out in the country, yet close to Bath. ||Quite simply, a small but perfect location for a restful retreat and delivering exceptional service to a high quality. I stayed Saturday to Sunday and used the Spa on the Sunday which was great because it was quiet and visiting the spa was the main purpose of my stay. I came for a short break and was so looked after, it was astonishing. The room was lovely ( I was upgraded) and the hotel was so quiet. The spa was nice but I liked using the hotel wellies and tramping around the park enjoying the weather, horses and colours of the trees the best. The food and service was top notch, as was the massage. Will return for more pampering! The DVD player and digital radio were a nice touch, as were the sweets. More...

Just returned from a great weekend taking advantage of the Gourmet Break. ||We had a fantastic time. The hotel is beautiful and has a really nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. We had a garden room looking over the estate and it was very good. Nice size, comfortable bed and a great view. ||It poured with rain on the Saturday but the lounge was a relaxing and beautiful place to play board games in front of the fire. We treated ourselves to afternoon tea which was top notch. ||We had dinner at the main restaurant on Saturday night and it was marvellous. The food was exquisite and the new restaurant manager was great and made us feel so at home. We have eaten at a lot of Michelin star restaurants but were really impressed. ||I set the hotel staff the difficult task of catering for a pregnant woman with a nut allergy. They dealt with it perfectly and had no trouble making adjustments in my food. ||The spa was very nice and we really enjoyed our spa treatments. Our only comment is that if the pool/sauna area is meant to be part of the spa then it should be a child free area as it really isn’t relaxing having kids running about, screaming and splashing. It isn’t really fair when the majority of the clientele are couples trying to relax. Some places aren’t really appropriate for small children. Whilst there is a ‘quiet time’ for adults only, this isn’t widely advertised at the hotel and we didn’t know about it. The spa does get very busy so late afternoon/early evening is a good time to go; unfortunately this is when the kids are all there. More...

The service is very good in this luxurious hotel ... love the old school normal keys , live wood burning fires in the rooms and historical features. Really is breathtaking - especially a live fire burning at night. Views are stunning too - Loved the log book with guest reviews as old as 1988 in the room , how special is that though!! Such an interesting and traditional hotel which is just sheer decadent !! Only thing is - our room was a little cold (radiators dont heat up and a fire for a large room was not enough ) and they dont have a mini bar , which all the best hotels have !! I would have loved to give this place a 5 stars , but if you feel you can overlook things like a mini bar and adequate heating then definitely visit. |Also we stayed in the exact room Piers Morgan stayed with his wife Marion in 1992 as he left a review in the logbook! He was exceptionally racist saying the bad thing about the hotel was foreign staff - Im sorry but ALL the staff was amazing and went above and beyond for us. Do not let Piers Morgan put you off !! We have just returned from a one night stay following our Wedding. The staff here are excellent, attentive and very friendly. The building is stunning and the details are what you'd want from a 5 star hotel. We had a room in the main building which was cleaned and replenished when they knew we were going for a treatment, room service was quick and staff helpful.||The spa was high quality and treatment excellent - very nice area to relax after our wedding, not too busy and good facilities. ||Only ate in the Brasserie which was nice but not sure on the 'new' menu compared to the one i found online and it seemed some of the other guests weren't sure either. We ended up opting for steak which was very nice so no issues with quality.||The drawing room area is stunning, drinks lovely, plenty of games and a nice atmosphere.||Will return More...

My wife and I have recently returned from celebrating our wedding anniversary at Lucknam Park. We have been staying there, every year, for about 10 years. Back in April I was gifted an overnight stay here by friends to celebrate my birthday. They are regular visitors to Lucknam Park and while I have visited the spa before and also had food in the brasserie, I have never stayed in the actual hotel. It was such a treat. The room I stayed in featured a beautiful four-poster bed, a lovely window seat overlooking the gardens and a stunning bathroom. I'm not sure if it was an upgraded room but it is one of the best hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast the next morning before the time came to leave. Needless to say I wasn't ready to go but I left with wonderful memories. I can't comment on whether my stay was value for money, as I don't know how much the room cost. But in terms of a birthday treat, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. More...

Sublime spa, hotel, service and grounds!

T
28 October 2019

If you are paying top dollar for a hotel, then, frankly, it has to get everything spot on. Lucknam Park does a lot very well, but it does not compare with the very top rank of country house hotels, and yet its prices are right up there. ||||If you were paying £200 a room, it would be sensational......lovely grounds and fabulous spa make it a very enjoyable place to spend a weekend - no need to venture beyond the 1 mile long drive and grounds. It also has an excellent main restaurant......that was top notch from start to finish.||||But when you are paying double (or maybe quadruple) the amount you might think ok for a good hotel room, the little things niggle. The Garden Room we had was fine, but pretty small. It did look out to the gardens, but no outdoor sitting area. The tap in the bathroom was wobbly, and on one evening the hot water was luke warm.||||The Brasserie was the alternative to the main restaurant, and was fine.........but a very bland dessert rather took the shine off the meal we had there. To be fair to the Brasserie, we kicked off with a couple of fantastic gin and tonics - they have an extensive range of gins - so it was a strong start to the evening.||||Staff were great all round - very friendly and obviously want to do a good job. But without the "gloss" and slickness of service you might expect from the finest establishments.......they seemed keen but under-trained in some cases.||||So, yes Lucknam Park is a lovely place for a treat, and we had an excellent weekend, but if you price at these levels, you need to live up to it. Probably one of the best properties I have ever stayed. The manor is located in a beautiful green and scenic setting. Booked a gourmet package for 2 nights. The room we were given (Gypsophila) was nice, spacious and so quiet we could sleep with the window open. A half bottle of champagne and some sweets were waiting for us in the room. So it was up to a very good start. The estate was great and so big you could go on long walks or you could cycle around. The staff were all very friendly and to be honest was probably the best asset of the hotel. The spa was also very nice. ||The improvements needed : when we went up our room, the stairs needed hovering. We were there for 3 days and they were never vacuumed. I am surprised housekeeping did not notice when they checked the room...||When we had breakfast in the morning, some of staff had dirty uniforms. Again, the manager should have noticed and tell them to get changed. ||In the restaurant, some of the linen (which were covering the legs of the table) had stains on them and needed to be changed. ||We also had a problem in our room that should have never happened but when I complained about it, it was quickly rectified by housekeeping and the front office Manager.||It was only small things but in my opinion it is the difference between a good and an exceptional hotel. When we pay a £1000/night, we expect everything to be perfect More...

We have visited L.P a few times now. Although the change in management has meant a slight loss of personal touch, we still love this place. ||The hotel would get 5 circles, if there was a bit more personalisation and attention to detail. Standards of sevice are good throughout most of the hotel, never bad bad but could be better in small pockets. However I am a fusspot and most people probably wouldnt notice these small things.||Moving on from the tiny niggles, the reason we will keep returning is our little one. She can stay at any other 5 star hotel and she still wants to know when we are coming back to L.P.||It's fantastic for kids. I understand they are working on more welcome amenities for children. The brasserie restraunt is child friendly. But the thing which makes this place great for families | that want a luxury break is the amount of things to do with kids.|*on site tennis court|*long swim period in indoor pool|*hore riding|*play ground/ sand pit|*cookery school||And my favourite the hideaway!the hideaway is a parents paradise especially for under 5's. Upstairs there is table tennis, fuseball and computers for older kids. But the lower part of the cottage is a super clean, fully loaded play area for little ones. Books, puzzles, toys, dress up with shop/kitchen, baby sensory area, toddler craft and water play. (And is a no shoe zone, which I love)||Whilst one of us uses the adults facilities, the other has plenty to do with the little one. Then we can all enjoy some family time. Took our sales team as a reward for their excellent results this year and Lucknam Park did not disappoint. ||On the first evening we had a Michelin star 10 course taster dinner. The next day we had some Spa treatments followed by a cookery course and some free time at the Spa at the end of the day. The whole experience was utter perfection - beautiful accommodation, surroundings and facilities, exquisite food and the staff were very professional and friendly. The cookery course was a highly enjoyable experience too. All in all it was utter luxury without the snobbery - we all wished we could stay. If you are planning a corporate treat, look no further. We stayed overnight during a very sunny spell which added to the overall experience.|| ||PROS:-||Lovely grounds with horses on your doorstep (we also saw a few deer during one of our rambles). Even if you don’t horse ride, they are beautiful animals up close and provide a nice diversion.||||Very nice Wellness/SPA facilities, with a 20m indoor pool and an indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool. There are also various steam rooms/saunas including a Japanese Salt cabin and Amethyst cabin; plus an outdoor salt water plunge pool for SPA guests (albeit everyone was making use of it whether they were having SPA treatments or not).|| ||The gym was a good size and featured a very good range of equipment.||||We really liked the Library area for relaxing pre and after dinner drinks. ||||Free use of mountain bikes which you could use to explore the grounds and beyond. ||||Excellent service all-round.||||CONS:-||Our room was a little small and felt cramped with the addition of 2 armchairs (we had a garden room). ||||The outdoor sun terrace surrounding the jacuzzi and SPA plunge pool was relaxing but a little unkempt. We felt that more could be done to improve look of the gardens.||||At times, the pool was fully occupied by children which made it impossible to take a swim. However, we did manage to get the pool to ourselves during the lunch period.||||The food served at the Brasserie was well executed but a little bland. A ramp was available for the wheelchair, the car was whisked away safely and brought back when leaving and all we had to do was make our way to the Drawing room to a table looking out over the lovely parkland that is one of the outstanding features of the hotel.||Service was exemplary and the food matched the service. Our thanks to all the staff who were so helpful.||||DPL80 More...

I was given a voucher as a birthday present (by my family) for Lucknam Park and decided to spend it on a treatment in the Spa. I chose the Muscle and Mind Ritual which involved hot salt stones and a body massage. After an hour and a half I emerged feeling completely relaxed. I would recommend this to anyone, professional and friendly staff and beautiful peaceful surroundings. The only negative was that I hadn't realised I would be able to have a dip in their salt water pool so didn't have a swimming costume with me. Never mind I dipped my toes in the water instead. An amazing place to relax and recharge the batteries. Exceptional service. Great Spa with a swimming pool you can actually swim in. Very good massage. Top class food at breakfast, lunch in the brasserie and the fine dining... Oh my word. And the range of whiskies to choose between. Wow. The grounds in this place are huge, we had a wonderful stroll across acres of open land. A breathe of fresh air. More...

I stayed here with my daughters (ages 11 years and 14 years) for a few nights for a riding and spa treat. Having the on-site equestrian facilities was why I chose for us to stay here rather than elsewhere, and we were not disappointed! ||||Absolutely loved the riding - what a fabulous experience to ride through such a beautiful estate together. Love that our instructors pushed us a bit, too, so our riding and confidence have also improved - thank you!||We spent plenty of time in the spa as well - the pool(s) and surrounding gardens are lovely. I also very much appreciated that treatments are offered for youngsters, as this is fairly rare, and the girls loved having a manicure and a facial.||||The atmosphere (when we stayed, at least) was rather sedate / sleepy, and service at breakfast, in the brasserie and in general was rather slow and a bit lacking in flair, but OK ... fine for us on this occasion, but might not be attentive enough for those wanting exceptional / genuinely 5 star service - it's not quite in that league.||||It is a beautiful house and estate - retains the feel of a country house rather than a hotel. ||||My only real criticism of our stay would be that the room (a Park room) was really hot and stuffy - staff must know the rooms get like this in the summer, so should be proactive in cooling them (with fans etc.), or indeed offering cooler rooms if available, not merely wait for guests to mention it, as we did. The member of staff I spoke to about it was a little patronising, informing me that "it's an old building so they do get hot.." - actually, not necessarily - my own house is almost 200 years old and is beautifully cool in the summer (without air conditioning), if you air it at the right time of day and so on.||||Also, the breakfast offer is satisfactory, but not outstanding - I've had much better breakfasts at more modest hotels. (Perhaps this is a British phenomenon, as the breakfasts we had staying at Chewton Glen last year were similarly disappointing!). A shame, as a great breakfast is always a highlight of any hotel for me, and something I really look forward to.||||PS: I greatly appreciated the well-timed turn-down service, and my youngest daughter was very pleased with the little personal touch arranging her teddy and the gift of a toy pony: thank you! Had a delicious afternoon tea, with a good range of tasty food, very well prepared and attractively served. Delicious glass of champagne too and also a wide range of teas on offer. Service was friendly and the member of the team delivering the food was very knowledgeable about the items served and nothing was too much trouble for him. The only reason not to give five stars were the surroundings, which, in our view, looked in need of some care and attention; also crockery and cutlery from previous guests that afternoon took some time to clear after they left, even though where we were having our tea, there was only one other table occupied. We were not timing the removal of these items but the longer it went on ( between 15-30 minutes), the more noticeable it became! Please accept this as constructive criticism as the food itself was first class. More...

The staff are so welcoming, attentive and professional in every aspect and this shows itself everywhere. We were upgraded to The Peach Room with glorious views of the courtyard and a personal welcome message and gift acknowledging our 35th wedding anniversary. Picture this estate set in a vast parkland 10 km from Bath, this 18th- Century Palladian mansion is what British country houses are made of. We rocked in time to attend the full-blooded afternoon tea that smacks of strong tradition where we tried over several days the music room and the drawing room overlooking the gardens. We had spa treatments planned and the most amazing Horse ride through the estate. We had Afternoon Tea in the drawing room several times which was beyond delicious. We ate dinner in the Brassiere and though it considered the casual dining option the food was fabulous. We met some lovely Londoners staying for a weekend getaway in the Library one evening. The staff was friendly, interested in us and ready with our every need. We were most impressed with the newly renovated Spa and pool which featured a swim out jacuzzi (the size of a small pool) to a beautiful sunken private garden. Lucknam Park is a very attractive hotel in a great location. As a five star hotel you expect the management and staff to be at the top of their game. Certainly, restaurant Hywel Jones attains this, with superbly cooked and presented food, although the restaurant itself is quite antiquated and lacks soul. ||||However, there are areas where the five star service slips. On our first evening, we were surprised not to receive a turn down. We mentioned this to reception on the following day, who were surprised and said they would mention it to housekeeping. Once again, on our second evening, no turn down. The following morning we asked to speak to the manager before going into breakfast. Even after checking out no one approached us so again we asked to speak to the manager. The duty manager arrived and said he'd received the message that we wanted to speak to him. So why did we have to ask twice? He told us the missed turn downs were because we had our do not disturb sign up at the time that housekeeping wanted to do the turn down. Although they should have known at what time we would be out of the room, as we were eating in the hotel, if they couldn't do the turn down at a time suitable to them, then we wouldn't get a turn down. And there was me thinking that things would be organised at the paying customers convenience, and not to fit in with housekeepings own schedule. Additionally when we got home my wife thought she may have left her sunglasses behind, so phoned to be told that housekeeping would call us the next day to let us know if they had turned up. Guess what. No one phoned!. This all sounds very picky but it's not the fact that the turn down wasn't done or that no one called when they said they would, it's the fact that no one seems interested in making sure a 5 star hotel provides 5 star service.||||The other thing that surprised us was that none of the door handles in the room were properly fixed! All the screws were loose as though someone had taken them off to paint the doors but not bothered tightening them up. Very strange.||||We saw the General Manager wandering about the hotel a couple of times, but he seemed to have no interaction with the guests. Perhaps if he spoke to his guests he could get feedback in a more personal manner. It has certainly been our experience in other quality hotels in the UK that GMs like to speak to guests of their hotel.||||We will no doubt be back at Lucknam in the future as we really liked the hotel. However, it needs to improve to get back to the same levels as other five star hotels in the West Country. More...

I visited the spa at night, and I have to say it was one of the greatest moments of my life looking at the stars in this wonderfully warm jacuzzi. They're so clear, compared to in the city! I wish I had taken a photo. Truly, it was surreal.||||The classic room is pretty small, but they have nice bathrooms. It's fine for one or two nights, but if i stayed any longer in a room that small I would go mad. If you're staying longer, I suggest book a larger room.||||The library and grounds are just beautiful. We took a long time to be served in the restaurant, and I don't remember being wowed by the food, but I don't think it was bad, either. ||||To sum up, a very romantic and beautiful place to stay, but book a garden room or suite if you're not staying alone! We have been coming to Lucknam Park for several years and we have always tried our utmost best to stay at least once a year when the children are on break from school. I wanted to thank all the staff for their care and attention shown during our recent visit. The staff have been trained to very high standards, service is always impeccable throughout from the Front of House and Back of House Team. My family and I have always enjoyed the variety of leisure facilities and activities the hotel has to offer. We have particularly enjoyed the spa facilities and exploring the massive land using the hotel bikes. We went for dinner at the Brasserie and as expected, the food was divine, from our main course to dessert. This hotel has some outstanding features.||The food is excellent. We had afternoon tea, dinner, breakfast on two days and lunch. Every mouthful was perfect. Do ask for breakfast to include some of the tastiest golden eggs we have ever eaten. They were almost orange in colour!||The spa too was perfect. The best massage I’ve ever had. Ask for Sue and have a back and shoulder massage. Make sure you visit on one of the three days she works.||The gardens are huge and very well kept. For Fitbit users the walk from the hotel just down the drive gives a return trip of nearly 3,000 steps. Engrossing watching dozens of squirrels (grey unfortunately) and lots of horses. In early evening there are deer to be seen.||Our room in the rectangular old ‘stable yard’ was relatively small but comfortable. The bed was excellent and pillows were good. Lots of hot water, very large fluffy towels and nice bath products. Reasonable WiFi.||The downside seems to be around the somewhat haphazard front of house organisation which many other guests record. Very nice, well meaning staff but communication between them could be better. Having booked in, and knowing we were relatively early, we gave our luggage away, and took coffee in the lounge. We explained that we were booked in with family for afternoon tea. Two hours passed and we asked three different people what time our room would be ready. Throughout that time we overheard three guests gently complaining to reception that things they had arranged hadn’t happened. We never got an answer to our query so went a walk. We were approached twice subsequently to book in, by different people. ||When our family arrived to join us things got even more muddled. We eventually were shown to our room to find our luggage already there waiting for us. No one seemed to be responsible for ensuring we were shown our room when it was ready.||The lounge areas were all set for afternoon tea so we weren’t sure where residents would sit in bad weather. ||The kitchen provided me with a delicious birthday cake and we enjoyed sitting in the garden in the sun to eat it.||Sunday was Mother’s day which was very busy and popular with non residents. ||We were incredibly spoiled by our family for this special weekend, and it was very special indeed. A tiny bit of tweaking would reap rewards. More...

We last stayed at LP just under a year ago to celebrate my birthday. This year it was time to celebrate my Wife's. We chose a Park Room for added space and comfort and it was perfect. After several very useful and helpful e-mail exchanges with Emma (reservations coordinator), I opted for Room 8 'Tea Rose' which has a superb first floor position within the main hotel building and offers beautiful views of the surrounding fields and countryside. The room is spacious and very well-appointed. Traditional style with modern amenities blend to make a perfect room for a couple on a special occasion. ||||On arrival our luggage was taken for us, car parked by concierge and the receptionist wished my wife a happy birthday for the following day - a lovely touch and great attention to the booking details. We arrived before the room was ready so we took full advantage of the spa facilities. As usual, these were excellent and very relaxing. Only small observation here was that staff were a little slow to remove used towels from the pool loungers when they were no longer occupied. This made finding available loungers more difficult by not wanting to take someone else's. Perhaps more obvious used towel receptacles would help but proactive staff should be able to manage this. I don't find the pool staff overly engaging and I think they could be more customer-focused. ||||In the room we had a welcome note, hand-written by the resident General Manager and a small box of chocolates with a birthday note were left for my wife. This was a lovely touch.||||We had a supper reservation in The Brasserie. It lived up to the very high standard we enjoyed on our last visit and we had a first class meal with brilliant, friendly service, fantastic food and very good wine. Towards the end of the evening, my wife was presented with a plate of small chocolates with chocolate 'Happy Birthday' piping. Another lovely touch which made her feel very special and was very much appreciated. ||||Breakfast (on a Monday) was served in The Brasserie and we were once again spoiled for choice from the extensive menu. The food was very well presented and extremely tasty. We enjoyed a walk around the gardens after breakfast and then a quiet hour reading in the beautiful drawing room with a coffee to end our perfect stay. ||||We are already looking at dates for our next stay. One night at a time never seems enough but, for as long as we keep enjoying the experience as much as we did again this time, we will continue to return. More...

My husband and I received Mr and Mrs Smith vouchers for Christmas and we decided to put them towards a stay here. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were delighted. The staff were absolutely wonderful, the room was great and the brasserie and spa were excellent. ||We didn’t book treatments in the spa, we just sat poolside and took advantage of the tranquil setting. The sauna, steam room, Japanese salt room and amethyst room were wonderful. The warm jacuzzi pool with sliding door to the outside pool was sublime. There is a very grown up feel to the spa, with no stag or hen parties which was most welcome! ||We ate in the Brasserie and the food and service were wonderful. My husband was concerned that the menu wasn’t very big, but this was because everything was cooked to perfection. My husband had a beautifully cooked steak and I ate from the ‘plant to plate’ menu.||We asked for tea and coffee in our room in the morning and again, the service was wonderful. The attention to detail was greatly noted. ||Upon leaving, we were given a bag for the car containing bottled water and a beautiful ‘grown up chocolate’ chocolate bar. ||This is an expensive place to stay but it is worth every penny. We have stayed in hotels claiming to be 5 star (The Celtic Manor for example), bu this one really is. The staff are discreet but are always there should you need help. ||I will definitely be coming back - an absolutely wonderful break. Thank you Lucknam Park! More...

We recently stayed here with friends. Overall we had a lovely time. The Michelin starred restaurant for dinner was really lovely and the pre-drinks in the lounge was a nice touch. However for breakfast the next day it was like a different place. Service not as good, the food did not come out all a the same time, the toast was burnt, tables were not cleared, it was just a little disappointing. Lunch in the lounge too was hard work. We had to keep seeking out staff to get a drink or order food, the also need somekind of low background music as it is too silent. We ordered the same lunch two days running and they came up different! The Spa is lovely but we were told we could have drinks and lunch in the brasserie but then we were turned away by the brasserie staff as you have to get changed just to order a coffee! Think there should be somewhere where you can eat and drink whilst still enjoying the Spa for the day. Am going to start with the positives as this is a lovely hotel/spa set in a beautiful location. |We have stayed here a few times but this was the first time we were able to take the dogs and they absolutely loved it. Great walks, special treatment and welcome pack including doggy beds. Very good that they have a clear dog policy in place.|Spa was excellent with the front desk staffed by people that are a credit to Lucknam Park. One of the most peaceful Spa's we have ever been to and part of the reason we return. Breakfast is excellent, lots of choices from cereal to a full english. Brasserie was very pleasant with a good choice of food available, service very good.|Now for the niggles.|We stayed in a garden room which I have to say is a little small for two adults and two small dogs. The garden rooms we have stayed in before were a lot bigger. If you want more space you'll need to upgrade to a park room or cottage suite. Bit of a strange decision as if you have a dog's with you there's a need for a little more space not less. By their own admission it is one of the smallest garden rooms which again I was confused about.|There was a lot of inconsistency during our stay which was annoying. Some examples below:|1. Asked Spa front desk we could have lunch in our robes outside at the brasserie, told it was fine to do that to then be told by waitressing staff we could not eat there in our robes. Bit embarrassing to be honest.|2. Room serviced at 10am on day one and then at 4pm on day two (bin not emptied). Felt like someone had forgotten to service the room.|3. Spent 10 minutes looking for someone to take a lunch order, ended up going to front desk.||I appreciate mistakes happen but at this end of the market I do not expect to experience them. We stay at hotels like this to relax and be spoilt rotten for a few days. We were certainly relaxed but not spoilt like we normally are here.||I would suggest arrangements are made to have somewhere setup where you can get a drink/snack/something healthy at the Spa without getting changed, even if there was some sort of order service available.||Will we return Am not sure at the moment but if we do we will be staying in a Park room with extra space for the dog's. Visited for Sunday Lunch. Truly beautiful grounds and gardens, very impressive. The food was of the highest caliber, expertly described and with ingredients that allowed individual flavors and combinations to shine through. The service experience needs a little work - from the reception/greeting - haphazard - to being put in the ante-room - to being seated. Getting in and out of the shower was a challenge without any grab handles. Service is generally excellent but we were disappointed in one or two aspects.Breakfast (£32 plus 12.5% service for the full version, yes that is the price) was OK but my Eggs Benedict was cold. Stayed in a "Park room" for three days over Christmas 2018. The room was very comfortable and had most of the amenities that you would expect from a 5* establishment with one, notable, exception, no tea/coffee making facilities and no fridge! ||However, a fridge and T/c facilities were provided on request and everything else was perfect. All the staff, without exception, were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and professional. We were greeted at the front door by the Hotel manager and then shown to our room while our luggage was brought round and the car taken to the car park all very easy and straightforward. Throughout our 3-night stay arrangements were flawless, coach to the local parish Church for midnight mass, choir singing carols on Christmas eve, coach to the Pantomime on boxing day, gifts in the room, everything went off without a hitch! Then of course there is the food in the Restaurant Hywel Jones, beautifully presented exquisite flavours and superb service consistent throughout. Add to all of this the luxurious spa with outdoor heated hydrotherapy pool and the beautiful grounds and this made a perfect Christmas break. Thank you to the whole team at LP for working so hard to provide a relaxing and first class experience. A sublime few days that exceeded our expectations!
