What’s your interior design process?
Interior Design Consultancy
Lucia offers a design consultancy service that is based on a per hourly rate which is based on your requirements. This can range from advice on hanging pictures, paint colours, new furniture, new curtains, to advice on full room or house schemes.
Full Design Package
For maximum flexibility Lucia incorporates two break points in her Design Package fee structure. This allows you to determine precisely the level of involvement Lucia has in your project.
The following interior design fee structure is for residential and commercial clients.
Initial Meeting - NO CHARGE
Interior Design Fee: Varies according to room size and scope of works, and is detailed in a letter following the initial briefing meeting. The interior design fee covers the sourcing of fabrics, wall coverings, flooring, acquisition of samples and initial design drawings..
Break point - You may choose to implement the designs yourself at this stage. The design materials and drawings supplied will facilitate this.
Building and Decorating Specifications - Once the design is approved the client has the option to commission full building and decorating specifications for each room. These are highly desirable documents used to detail the works required to the contractor for quotation purposes and to guide the activities of the contractor during the project itself. A quote is provided based on the scope of works.
Break point - From this point you are well equipped to find, appoint and manage your own contractor.
Co-ordination of Contractors:
Lucia can offer Project Co-ordination on projects valued under £500,000 at a pre determined hourly fee. On projects valued at £500,000 or more Lucia can broker a Turnkey service including Project Management and full contracting services throughout the UK and Europe (please contact us for international pricing procedures). These services are subject to a detailed contract.
Supply of Materials – Lucia Bespoke Interior Design acts as an agent for the supply of fabrics, wallpapers, furniture, accessories, floor coverings etc. All goods are supplied at trade prices plus an agent's fee. Delivery charges incurred are charged on to the client at cost.
Soft Furnishings and Upholstery
Lucia Bespoke Interiors offers a full soft furnishing, upholstery and curtain-making service. Fees are dependent on product specifications and requirements.
Furniture and Rug Design
Lucia can design unique furniture and rugs, as well as bespoke joinery for kitchens, bathrooms, dressing rooms, libraries, etc.
Acquistion of Art and Antiques
Lucia can acquire art and antiques on behalf of the client.
Lucia can organise and co-ordinate specialist services including bespoke joinery and furniture-making, specialist paint finishes, polished plaster and tadelakt, specialist tiling, metalwork, glasswork, artist's murals, painted tiles, and bespoke fabric, wallpaper and rug design.
Lucia Bespoke Interiors offers a personal shopping service to accompany clients on visits to showrooms, art galleries, antiques dealers, and fairs. Fees are applicable for this service, and are completely negotiable.
(Please note the prices that will be quoted are for residential clients only; commercial projects are subject to individual quotation. All fees are subject to VAT @ 20%.).
How the design process works
An important part of our assessment is to view your chosen space, discuss your requirements/ budget, make initial suggestions and assess how much involvement you need from us. This initial consultation takes place in your home, within days of you first contacting us.
The consultation is your opportunity to show us the space, present us with your ideas and ask us any questions you have about how we work. The consultation generally lasts 90 minutes, during which time we discuss your interior needs in greater detail, and get a better feel for the area you want re-designed. At this stage, if required, we would also undertake a full laser survey and take photographs of the space in question. Following the meeting, we will send you a detailed proposal for the work we propose to undertake, with fixed fees given for each item.
After receipt of our proposal, if you wish to proceed, the next stage involves us making as many site visits as necessary to establish the detail of your requirements, presenting design suggestions and samples as appropriate, and drawing up floorplans and layouts. How long all this takes varies according to the complexity of your particular project – and, crucially, any changes which you ask us to make along the way. Some changes may incur further charges & costs.
Together with the final drawings, we’ll present you with a detailed sampleboard and a list of key items of furniture, fabrics, fittings (such as lighting) and accessories, all of which can be purchased through us.
Once you have approved the final drawings, we can prepare detailed specifications for the works to be undertaken by craftsmen and contractors – carpenters, plumbers, decorators and the like. You can choose whether to hire and supervise contractors yourself, or to use our services (recommended).
A 50% project deposit is payable upon engagement with the remainder payable upon delivery of sample boards and design specifications.
Design Packages and Supply
All services provided to complete your project are charged at the best Trade Prices we can negotiate on your behalf, plus a small handling charge of 22%. product payment is required in full prior to the placement of any purchase orders.
Project specification for contractors (optional)
Once you have approved the final drawings, we will prepare detailed specifications for the works to be undertaken by craftsmen and contractors – carpenters, plumbers, decorators and the like. You can choose whether to hire and supervise contractors yourself, or to use our services
Technical Drawing Fee: Fixed fee based on an hourly rate of £110
Lucia Bespoke Interiors, if commissioned, will work on your behalf to see the project through from start to finish. We will produce competitive costings & negotiate trade discounts. We will appoint contractors, source suppliers, organise the work/installation, hold regular site meetings with the contractors, co-ordinate hand-over including the resolution of any snagging issues and organise a 3 months defects meeting.
Lucia Bespoke Interiors do-not receive any commission from the tradesmen involved. (Please note that not all interior designers operate this way!) We pride ourselves on achieving the best possible service and value for our clients.
(Please note that the majority of the fees paid for this project are generally recouped by the package deals and discounts we negotiate on your behalf, from manufacturers and contractors. Thus, our overall involvement makes this service extremely good value, and very very popular.)
Invoices in respect of the project co-ordination/ management fee are charged in line with payments to contractors/ suppliers or at intervals throughout the duration of the project.

My Man Cave before and after. I had this empty damp space doing nothing for 5 years and then I saw the work Lucia Bespoke Interiors had done in my friends home and just had to aske them to come up with ideas for my 'Kid Free Zone'. I am still in shock. Despite the fact that through the consultation, concept and presentation or the proposed final reveal I was not sure if Lucia could possibly bring off my ideas because they were so hard to envisage, I returned home after to weeks to a revealed final project that was so amazing and perfect to the letter that I burst into tears, and fell to my knees!!! Lucia and her team were a dream to work with. My husband had past experiences with other interior designers, but this was my first time and I feel so lucky that it was with Lucia Interiors.
