What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Listening to the needs of the clients, bringing out their best features. Lighting, set up, camera, lens, location relaxed subject are all key to great photos.
Knowing how to adapt to every situation whether it is sunny or indoors, moving or static. Framing and telling a story with the picture is quite important in my opinion, so capturing the moment and the essence of the event or person. The story in the picture is what it is all about for me. What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
If it is an event: What are the key shots for the day (if it is the event for instance). How many people at the event, where is the location, does location allow flash photography. All these information are ironed out in the consultation.
If they want portraits then I will ask them how many people are getting photographed kids and adult numbers for instance. What sort of look do they like.. such as some clients may like the dark moody type of shots (so low key) or the natural documentary lifestyle type of photography or high key (white background ).
Questions for all scenarios: What is the end result that clients want. For instance.. what will you want to do with the photographs? For events capturing the day they might want all digitals on a disc, for weddings they might want an album and wall display mixed packages, so the project is planned around client's end goals.
What do you love most about your job?
I love it that I can do what I enjoy, what I am good at and call it a job. I love working with people to have beautiful pictures and products hanging on their walls and displayed in their houses, it makes me so proud to be part of creating people's memories. I love the diversity in the projects that I get so I am constantly learning and honing in my skills. I love working with others as well as sharing my knowledge with other photographers. I have a great community of photographers that I associate with. I get to capture that special moment in someone's life and be part of that moment in their time. It is just such an honour and pride to me when they have quality products they can cherish a lifetime.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It was a natural move to set my own business as I have the background which led me there. I graduated in Multimedia and worked in Multimedia for over 13 years and just have naturally been doing what I love. I am inspired by my love for photography as the first and foremost reason to set up my business but also because I love the freedom it gives me to work at various projects.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have experience doing events photography for a long time as well as various different weddings from Muslim to Church and more. My ability to capture moments, natural and posed, I believe, is a positive to hire me. I aim to work with each clients requirements and deliver high end quality at all times. I am part of the Society of Portrait and Wedding Photographers so provide high quality service and products to my clients at the professional standard. I provide value for my clients and great quality products and service.
