Definitely recommend this beginner's course with Katie. She was a lovely teacher and there was no pressure at all. You worked at your own speed and she came round with tips when anyone struggled with any of the letters. The time just flew by.

A fantastic class that I couldn't recommend more! Katie is a wonderful teacher and the setting (from location to class size) was perfect. We learned the basics of modern calligraphy and had enough time to practise everything, so you can easily take your calligraphy skills to the next level at home. I loved every bit of this class and really appreciate not only Katie's teaching style, but also the attention to detail that she put into the class and the preparation (a calligraphy pen and ink for every student, a handwritten card with our names on it, a rose on each desk, etc.). Fantastic experience trying calligraphy for the first time! Katie was very patient and knowledgable and had a lot to share. I'm encouraged to keep dabbling with calligraphy, even though I'm no where near good! The venue was absolutely beautiful and really added to the atmosphere. I went with a friend, and we had a fantastic time at Wilton's Music Hall. The building itself is quirky and interesting, the cafe (which we weren't able to try) looked nice, and the course (run by Katie) was brilliant. She went at a perfect pace, dealt with the faster and slower members of the group and we learned a lot. The time flew by, we were well looked after (drinks and cake!), and the equipment we used (and got to keep) seems really good. My daughter & I did the beginners calligraphy course. The session was held in a lovely old building.We were welcomed with a glass of prosecco with tea & cakes to follow. Katie was a kind & patient teacher with a lovely manner. My friend and I attended the beginners workshop held at Burgh House in Hampstead. We had a lovely afternoon. Katie was really helpful and made us feel very welcome. Lovely class. Katie our tutor took time to explain how to use the pen/nib/ink and the best paper to use. She was also very encouraging and certainly made you feel at ease! The Modern Calligraphy private tuition class is a fantastic experience which was a birthday present from family. The venue was a relaxed, quiet cafe and Katie laid the table out beautifully providing delicious snacks as well as the calligraphy materials. Katie's tuition was first class, discussing what I wanted to achieve from the session and how we would go about it. She provided 2 booklets of excellent exemplars to copy from, with different letter designs. It was a highly enjoyable 2 hours and I learnt a lot. All the materials and equipment provided can be taken away at the end of the class to practise further at home. I absolutely love the workshops provided by London Calligraphy. Katie, who runs it, is always patient and helpful, she provides a great pack of useful information, plus you get to take away the paper, the writing or brush utensils and ink away! It's absolutely ideal for beginners! The workshops are always held in charming locations (I was in Wilton's Music Hall and Saucer and Spritz). The are small classes, so everyone gets some 1-in-1 attention, with drinks and delicious snacks provided. Katie also provides for those with dietary requirements. The classes are instructive, relaxing and once you've warmed up, it's just long enough to see how you're improving and makes you eager to go home and practise. I've taken 2 of London Calligraphy workshops (the pointed pen one and the brush one) and look forward to doing more in the future. I'm so glad its enabled my to have such a fulfilling hobby! What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Katie was a fantastic instructor and extremely hospitable as well. We were treated to not only a wonderfully quirky environment but also little treats throughout our time in her class as well as items to take back with us. It was a relaxed atmosphere and was nicely paced. Katie also didn't rush us through anything and gave us all personal attention throughout her class. Once I have practiced more it will be the improver workshop for me which I am looking forward too! This 2 hour evening Caligraphy session was a Birthday present from my daughters and Son-In-Laws as they knew I had a 'hankering' to learn calligraphy. I have to say that when I realised it was just for 2 hours I wasn't that hopeful of learning much and thought it would simply be a taster session. HOWEVER, I was wowed by the entire evening. Not only did Katie provide us with a brilliant starter kit, she also gave expert knowledge and guidance on how to use the 'tools. There was the added benefit of Prosecco and a little gift we each we received that I won't spoil for others by saying what it was. I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and came away having written the entire alphabet and some words and, very helpfully, everything I need to enable me to continue to practice at home.I will definitely want to attend an Improvers Group.Thank you Katie for a brilliant evening and your very interesting conversation. I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon with the lovely Katie from London Calligraphy, learning the art of modern calligraphy writing.
