We understand the complexities surrounding certain injuries and that injury treatment is important. We know that many can be addressed by physiotherapy or sports therapy. Being able to seek advice from an Orthopaedic Surgeon quickly is comforting. You can find out what is wrong, get answers to your questions and determine your options. It also costs less than you think and cuts the waiting that is inevitable with the NHS.

The maximum waiting time for non-urgent consultant-led treatments in the NHS is 18 weeks from the day your appointment is booked through the NHS e-Referral Service, or when the hospital or service receives your referral letter. However, your right to an 18-week waiting time does not apply if: you choose to wait longer. Often these times are exceeded

Our physiotherapists are fully equipped to assess any issue that affects you. They can help with joint, muscle and nerve conditions and provide injury treatment. These include (amongst many others) back pain, soft tissue injuries, shoulder pain, muscle strains and joint sprains. You will have a thorough and detailed assessment session. We will then discuss the findings and recommend treatment accordingly.

Our physiotherapists are Chartered and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered physiotherapists

The prevention of injury and your rehabilitation back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of age and ability is our priority. If you have an injury we will work together to investigate your problems, diagnosing and injury treatment treating these symptoms in the most effective way. We will assist you to return to doing what you love.

This may involve further examinations or diagnostic tests (such as X-Rays or scans) but this will be discussed at your initial assessment.

Sports massage can be very effective at relaxing and stretching tight muscles and other soft tissues. It can be used to treat an injury, or as a stand-alone treatment to reduce muscle tension or soreness. The aim is to get you back to your sport as quickly as possible and give advice to prevent a re occurrence.

Our sports therapist is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists.

If you wish to see a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for advice or treatment we are here to help. You will benefit from a team of highly specialised consultants, many of whom are nationally and internationally recognised for their expertise and experience.

Consultants are supported in their work by therapists who are experts in their particular fields of orthopaedic care.

You can book to see one of our consultants whether you have private health insurance, choose to pay for your own treatment or have your treatment funded through a third party. Your referral will provide valuable background information, medical history and a general overview of your problem. Your referral will usually come to us from your general practitioner (GP) but you can be referred referred to us by your existing consultant for say, a second opinion.

Private health insurance companies will insist on a referral before they can fund treatment.

As part of your injury treatment we can also offer most common injections in clinic e.g. knee, greater trochanter, shoulder, acromioclavicular joint, finger flexor tendons etc.

These injections are offered as either local anaesthetic, steroid or ostenil injections.

We offer the assessment and treatment of specific hand and wrist injuries. This is a specialised field due to the complex anatomy, function and mechanics of the hand and wrist. These are prevalent in field sports injuries and equestrian falls.

Outdoor pursuits can be hampered by hip, knee or ankle problems leading to reduced mobility. We can help you regain mobility to get you back outside, walking the dogs, rambling or shooting. From physiotherapy, injections to surgical options, we are here to help you.

OSTENIL® is a solution containing sodium hyaluronate. It is injected into the space in the joint that contains synovial fluid and means that it can decrease pain and stiffness and improve the other symptoms of osteoarthritis.

If you wish to have this treatment, it will be injected directly into the joint affected by osteoarthritis. This will be done once a week for 3 weeks until you have had 3 injections. The procedure typically takes about 50 minutes which will also include injecting local anaesthetic.

You will probably not notice any benefits immediately after the first injection, but you should gradually start to feel less pain and stiffness over the next few weeks. The improvement in your symptoms should last for several months, depending partly on the number of injections you have. You can expect the benefit from three injections to persist for up to 9 months.

Once the effects of the first course of injections wear off, you can have more. You can continue to have new courses of injections whenever necessary.

Ostenil Plus injections costs from £300.

Corticosteroid (cortisone) injection of joints and soft tissue facts. Corticosteroids are powerful anti-inflammatory medications. Cortisone injections can offer fast-acting relief of inflamed muscles, joints, tendons, and bursa. Complications are rare but may include infection and bleeding.

The duration of pain relief associated with a cortisone injection is dependent on the condition it is being used to treat. In certain conditions such as an acute tendonitis of the thumb / wrist caused by a single episode of overuse one cortisone injection can permanently relieve the pain. In other chronic conditions, such as knee arthritis, the pain relief may be immediate and significant, but the pain is likely to return gradually, due to the underlying wear and tear.
