Scott has recently designed the wedding invitations for me and my partner Nick and I'm pleased to say they are excellent. Really personal, brilliant service . Would happily recommend. He has also produced a beautiful picture montage to remind me of my cat who is sadly no longer with us, he really managed to capture her character! More...

Q&As

My creative process varies depending on the client. I believe it's important to view each project on an individual basis and find a way of working which suits the particular client. I'm definitley not a one approach fits all scenarios type of designer; it's important for me to work with the client to find out exactly what they are looking for so I can find the best approach to fit their project.

While some clients have a vague idea of what they want others have a clear vision; it can start as simply as a few scribbled notes on a scrap of paper or it can be a highly detailed design brief. The most important stage for me in the creative process is finding out exaclty what it is the client is after, what ideas they have and ensuring we are on the same page so we can work together to create a finished project which perfectly matches their vision and needs.

For any project I firstly like to ask a series of questions to establish exactly what the client is after; asking these helps me build a design brief which in turn informs me of what we are looking to achieve from the finished design. Put simply it's a blue print full of the information I need to create a design which works for the client and this will ultimatley vary depending on the specific needs of the task in hand.

Depending on the project I may then need to request further details from the client; be that an existing company logo or information specific to the project i.e. dates, venues, times, prices etc.

Ultimatley I believe in having very open communication with my clients, if I need something I'll pop them across an email or give them a call and I'd like to think my clients would do the same back if they had any questions at any stage of the project.

I love working with my clients and getting their ideas and thoughts about what they want because this naturally teaches me new things. I don't think I've ever come away from a project without gaining a new skill, or new approach or even a different way of looking at things that I hadn't thought of before.

Ultimately I believe the client always has a vision of what it is they want but not neccesarily the time or the skill set required to turn it into a finished project. The biggest buzz for me is interpreting the clients ideas and turning these into a finsihed project which they know came from the ideas and information they gave me.

Basically the lack of fulfillment I was recieving from my previous jobs.

As work is such a big part of anyones life I got to the stage where I felt it was important to do something which I had a passion for rather than something which would just pay the bills. I decided to go freelance because being very much a people person I wanted to have interaction with my clients and build up a relationship with them and I don't think I would have found this working for a large firm, many of which I believe seem to have lost that personal touch.

Because I work tirelessly to ensure that each of my clients is 100% satisfied with the service I provide. As mentioned before I'm not a big company and I don't have anything to hide behind but what I do have is the skills, the passion, the drive and determination to deliver consistent results to my clients each and every time.

I'm a very friendly and approachable person who believes it's important to communicate with my clients every step of the way. By chosing me to carry out your work you are choosing someone that won't just see your project as another job but an opportunity to do something which I am highly passionate about.
