A really fun place to be, and the owner is really funny and likes to put on crazy movies or videos (last time I was there, we watched Flash Gordon and went into this whole discussion about late 70's intergallactic space tv shows). Allison is the world's greatest hair stylist. I've been a client for years who has purple hair that's healthy and gorgeous thanks to her expertise in the art of rock and roll hair without compromising on the health of your hair. It's hard to find a hairdresser you can commit to, but Alyson at Liquid Hair Studios is the one whom I stuck with the longest. (And I only left because I moved out of state!)The studio is funky yet profession, the prices are fair, and, most importantly, the final results are always satisfactory. Almost 2 years ago I was a color dyed red hair that wanted a big change in my life. I wanted blue hair but my old stylist made this change sound complicated and impossible. I talked to some friends and other family friend stylists and got different advice. Finally, I talked to a friend who got her hair dyed purple at this joint and thought this location would be perfect for me. I asked for someone who specializes with fantasy color hair and one of the stylists they recommended Alyson. I went in for a consultation and it all went uphill from there. She was able to turn my red hair blue in the matter of 3 and a half hours. She has stolen my heart and I love her as a stylist. She gave great suggestions for my blue hair and when I needed to leave fantasy color hair she has given great recommendations like balayaging my hair. I love this location, the vibe, and most importantly my stylist. I still go there and look forward to my next appointment in the next month or so.For people who drive, be prepared to move your car to different spots if your appointment will take more than 2 hours. When I cut and color my hair it takes about 3 hours but the meters around there are 2 hours max and they got strict on overfilling the meter on the phone. I've gotten ticketed twice. Went here to get my hair cut for a hair donation. This place was beautiful, everyone was friendly, and Alyson was a literal angel. As a man whose nickname in college was Thor, my hair was a large part of my identity and I was freaking out. Alyson saw this, helped me relax, joked around, and put up with my endless requests for pictures at the weirdest times. If I had hair I would go back in a heartbeat just to sit in her chair again. Walk into Liquid in their new location and you think you are in a trendy loft salon in SoHo or Williamsburg. You are immediately greeted by a caravan of greeters, hair washers, and beverage providers, treated royally by the creatively-black-clad staff. My experience usually features some combination of color-cut-blowout by Lilly, and that means she will do a 10-point inspection and give me the best style based on her intuition and knowledge of my hair and lifestyle issues. As a happy customer for over 4 years now, I can genuinely say that I still love coming in for my haircut (or free sides cleanup between cuts) every time. I first came in wanting something edgier but not knowing exactly what I wanted, and Natalija was able to give me a new and improved look that I've kept since! I trust her for keeping my style fresh or even for changing it up in the future.The rest of the team, the owner, as well as the shop itself, make up the most friendly and welcoming salon atmosphere I've experienced. Robert has cut my hair when Natalija was out for personal time and he did a fantastic job - the owner even honored Natalija's price when Robert's was a bit higher.I've recommended a few of my friends to this salon and I believe they're all still going! Nataljia is the BEST! ... (actually, everyone there is great!) I drive down from NH because I trust no one else but Liquid staff to cut my hair. Friendly and knowledgeable about their craft. I don't get too crazy with my style but I have been floored when Allison creates amazing masterpieces with color. The place itself is really cool too. I had an awesome experience here today with Alyson! I came in with a vague idea of cut and color and she figured out how to get me what I wanted (a lighter shade of red) without bleaching my hair. I have very thick, curly hair and Alyson managed to get me a rockin' and consistent color as well as a super cool asymmetrical cut that manages to somehow look cool AND professional. Came today for the second time to get my hair done by Sam and it’s very very gorgeous and I’m so excited to show all my friends! The picture I based it off of was exactly what I wanted and I was stunned!!! This is my first google review but I don’t know how to share the pictures I took ahh!!! Had my hair dried by Robert who was also very nice and sprayed some very nice smelling styler in my hair. Very fun hip place and everyone I’ve seen who works there is always wearing the coolest things! I can't say enough good things about this place! 3 years ago I found out a bunch of my friends came to Liquid Hair Studios so I went to check it out. We were all grad students on a budget and it was quite affordable despite being an incredibly hip studio in the South End. I had my hair cut with Robert, as had a few of my other friends, and he did an incredible job. Since then I have not gone anywhere else, and Robert continues to know exactly how to cut my hair perfectly. My favorite thing about Robert is that he lets me try things out if I'm feeling a cut that's a little more interesting, and he always pulls it off flawlessly. Natalija has cut my hair probably 5 times now, and has done beautiful work every time. I have typically gone to her for all my short/clippered/pixie/shaved/faded cuts. She is amazingly chill. I have walked in with hair below my shoulders and showed her a really "high and tight" sort of thing from my phone-- she doesn't do the default "oh, you want to cut all this beautiful length, women kill for your color" mumbling-- she fires up the clippers and mows it off without batting an eye. I'm all about it. I went back last night sort of last minute, so I didn't get to make an artist request, but got an appt with Allyson who has rave reviews, so I wasn't worried. She is a MACHINE-- she assessed (correctly) my hair's growth patterns/texture/volume differences in about ten seconds flat (before I even managed to load the inspo photos I was looking for on my phone). She gave me something very "me," paying a definite nod to the photos I brought in, and making amendments based on my hair type. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place and about the stylist, Rob. I was visiting Boston recently, on my way to the Cape, and wanted to get some fun hair for the trip. I found Liquid on Yelp and it was near where I was staying, so I went. When I walked in and asked if anyone could take a walk-in, the staff was super friendly and told me someone could take me in about 15 minutes, so I waited. In about 10 minutes, a stylist named Rob came and introduced himself and took me to his chair. He was super friendly and engaging and walked me through the process of what I wanted when I showed him a photo. I had never fully bleached my hair before, so he was careful to tell me all of the things to expect. I had lots of questions but he was patient and helpful. He gave me a BEAUTIFUL color and super fly cut.The entire experience was fantastic and I left feeling like a million bucks. Whenever I'm in Boston again I'm definitely going back. I wanted to get my hair cut today and upon getting turned down elsewhere for a walk-in appointment I checked out the reviews for here. It seemed promising though there were a lot of negative reviews for Robert. I hoped when I went I wouldn't have him. Of course, Robert came right to me and took me back to his chair. He seemed a little abrupt, definitely a personality but the type of authentic, human I've come to appreciate immensely in life. I asked for a short bob. My hair was mid-way down my back. I've repeatedly grew my hair out and cut it again throughout the years; each time I had varying levels of satisfaction with the cut. So I was a little apprehensive as to whether I'd made a good choice. We began to chat as he cut and he turned out to be incredibly kind, intelligent and a great person. He also very much appeared to know what he was doing. As he finished I checked myself out in the mirror. I was pleased with the cut though he definitely left out the bangs I'd shown in the picture I was equally happy with the twist he'd put on it. I'd considered if I'd be okay with less bangs before walking in knowing that stylists often put their own personal design in- it never looks like the picture thats just the ground work idea. Overall pleasantly surprised at the entire visit. I'm glad I find out for myself that those reviews are definitely not an accurate represantation of the Robert I met. Let me start out by saying that before today I had never had my hair colored before.  I went here only because I found it online.  I could not have been happier with both the experience that I had but with the results as well.  I went from a pretty substantial brunette to a bleach blonde. I went into Liquid Hair yesterday for a cut and color from Alyson. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted other than a vague "pink ombre. " I showed her some photos and then turned things over to her judgment. When I left the shop, I was pretty excited, but now that I've had a day to go home and really look at my hair in the mirror, I'm in love. There's just so much going on, so many shades and layers of color. It seems like whenever I move my hair or tuck it behind an ear I find something new.I always hate finding a new stylist after moving cities, but I couldn't be happier with how things worked out with Alyson. We had a good conversation, and she was super helpful in taking my nebulous idea for my hair and turning it into something awesome. I had my hair colored and cut by Samantha at Liquid Hair Studios a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier! :DSome of my co-workers and I decided to dye our hair for the 40th Anniversary of our company, and having never dyed my hair another color before I wanted a stylist with lots of experience. Liquid Hair Studios came heavily recommended to me, and after browsing their webpage and gallery of unique hair coloring successes I had to try them out!Samantha was super friendly, professional, and helpful. I felt that she genuinely cared about my hair and the finished product. I arrived with only the vague details that I needed my hair to be in the company colors, but Samantha took that inspiration and, like a true artist, sculpted my hair with the perfect cut and color pattern. I have received dozens of compliments on my hair since -- thank you so much Samantha! I later learned that Liquid Hair Studios has been in Boston for the past 20-years, and they are clearly experts at creating unique and artistic hair colorings. The other stylists, receptionist, and even the other patrons all seemed very chill and friendly too.
