We attended a weekend birthday party at Leipzig Country House. It was a great venue for the occasion. The accommodation is perfectly nice and the staff are great. I’m not sure there is much to do at the beautiful venue itself but driving around the Worcester/Robertson countryside is a great day-filler. We stopped at the Saggy Stone craft brewery for a fantastic lunch. Although we never ate at the Four Cousins Restaurant in Robertson we stopped their twice for coffee and to pick up wine. We went for one night and stayed for three! it would have been more if we had been able to. We had to be moved to a different room when we requested to stay on as our room was already booked out for those extra two nights. ||The buildings grounds and setting are quite breathtaking and awe inspiring. They are well maintained and very pretty. We had a very warm welcome and efficient check in by Alecia who could not have been more accommodating of our last minute booking and late check in. We stayed in Room 8 with a high ceiling and lovely bathroom with a bath and shower.It was extremely comfortable with exquisite quality bed linen. Everything was extremely clean. We had our own little private patio area with beautiful mountain views.||There are lovely walks on the farm and the highlight for us was the tortoise enclosure where we were lucky enough to witness a sort of race!||The next two nights were spent in the coach house rooms by the pool and although smaller, the room was still very spacious and comfortable. Both rooms had great quality mattresses. These rooms do not have TVs by design but the manager kindly sent over a radio for music when I said that we wanted to eat on our patio that night.||We had eaten on the dining room room on the previous two nights but know that we would not be back in time that night. Dinner in the dining room was a gastronomic experience in the most beautiful and tranquil setting.. The ambience was pure magic, the setting superb and the food was so good. In visiting South Africa I have struggled as a vegetarian, (my husband is meat eater so no problem for him!) but I really felt that my meals had as much thought skill and preparation as his did and that made it very special for me.||Without exception the staff were all friendly and helpful and we were reluctant to leave.||As we left we bought wines as gifts and everyone has been very pleased with theirs.||Our stay at Leipzig was no doubt the highlight of this,our 4th trip to South Africa and we certainly hope to return. We have absolutely in hesitation in recommending it to others. We would suggest that you go with realistic expectations (ie: country houses are more likely to have insects and also that you ask for assistance when things are not as you expect them to be and help will be provided. Last weekend my son got married and most of the family stayed at Leipzig. All the rooms were well appointed and the views are stunning. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast on both days was excellent and Leipzig staff even set up a huge banquet table for our whole party of nearly 40 people to have breakfast together. There was no menu options for seperate orders. We took a au pair with us to look after the kids and we could not order any food for her as the venue did not cater for this. The wedding buffet was all option bt she was not part of the wedding so we had to drive 20km out again to get her food.So i would suggest a menu option for when theres wedding functions. What a GEM of a property and Shandre treated us as worthy guests every step of the way. From the booking to the confirmation, arrival and departure. We only spent 1 night in the Annex which slept 8 of us who went skiing at Kwaggaskloof Dam. The accommodated our early breakfast request and really just reached our expectations plus. The Leipzig is not far from Worcester, rather take the tar road. Staff was ever so friendly. The reception hall reminded us of a medieval castle. There is a swimming pool if jou needed cooling off. They have a fabulous venue for functions which is expertly run by Alecia and the other staff with an extra bonus of excellent whines produced and sold on the farm. We unfortunately only had one night in this place, wish it could have been more. The accommodation is clean comfortable and the country house is steeped in tradition with reception and the dining areas part of the original winery. The swimming pool is an aded bonus and there is a small winery with wine tastings on site . The lady who runs the wine tasting is fantastic, friendly and professional we had a great afternoon learning about the wines and making friends! Made this a stop-over on our way from Knysna to Saldanha. Good choice! We were made very welcome and shown to a delightful room - old style - thick walls, high ceiling, sash windows - oozing comfort. Restaurant is in the old converted wine production rooms. A lovely log fire made the room warm and our evening meal was excellent (but there was no choice) - chicken roulade - Quiet room - good night's sleep. V. good breakfast - self service for juice, cereals etc. with good choice of eggs, bacon, etc cooked to our choice. The food here was fantastic however our room was really filthy upon arrival and I had to ask for deep cleaning. The girl at reception mentioned that it was very difficult to get the guests out. .. they had many other rooms available so they could have just moved us into another room. Great pool area for the kids but the place needs attentions with regards to cleanliness in general. I also had to scrub my terrace table in front of the room. hadn't been cleaned for ages.
